I needed a new radar detector (previous detector was destroyed) and after reading many reviews I decided on the Uniden R3 vs the Escort models. I've only owned Escort models (for many years) but this Uniden has the features I want/need and doesn't have the bells and whistles (and added expense of these unnecessary features) I don't need/want. After using the Uniden R3 model for over 4,000 miles riding with friends using Escort models: I can personally verify the Uniden R3 model is superior in terms of early warning radar detection, which to me is the primary point of having a radar unit...

I bought this to replace an old beltronics unit. The range is amazing. It has settings for everything you can imagine. Worth the investment if you like to speed

Did a lot of research before purchasing. Moved from a 10+ year old Escort X-70. The long range detection is superb! Love the display and information it provides. Biggest knock I have seen is some don’t like it because it doesn’t have indicator arrows like Valentine 1 and some of the Escort line. If you don’t care about the non-arrows and simply want a great detector, this is the one.

This radar detector does a great job. I run it in city mode which greatly reduced the number of false alarms from car sensors. I would definitely buy it again.
