Customers are saying

Customers frequently mention the R3 DSP Long Range Radar and Laser Detector's impressive range and overall performance, which is comparable to the R7 model. Users appreciate its radar detection capabilities, accuracy, ease of use, and value for the price. While false alarms are a concern, they are not overly frequent, and some recommend disabling the K band.

Highly disappointed!!! I ordered this radar rector brand new from Best Buy and received it may 9. This weekend the screen has turned black and remains that way even though I could still hear the radar detector when I start my car and the buttons still light up. Now I have to send my unit in to Uniden for warranty since it’s too late to return to Best Buy.

This detector worked great until just after one year from purchase and then poof...it stopped working. Just out of the blue this detector stopped working. One day (no different from any other day) I used it on my way to work, no issues, got out of work, plugged it in, and nothing, no noise, no lights, NOTHING. I could see if this were a $50 dollar radar detector, but I paid over $400.

Was working great until the charger for the lighter port died somehow. I tried 2 different ports and a different plug. All will not work. Not sure what happened. I unplugged it one day to put a different charger in the port for my phone (which worked for the phone). When I put the radar charger back in the port, it wouldn't turn on. Disappointed.

Absolutely Crushes the Escort 360 Max

    Posted .

I have owned top of the line radar detectors since the early 80's (the original Escort, Whistler Spectrum, even a Uniden in the late 80's. I currently own a V1, two Escort 360 Max's, one Escort Max and now this Uniden R3. But for missing arrows pointing to the direction of the radar and Escort's app notifying you of police locations, the R3 absolutely crushes every other radar detector I have owned. For the money, this is it. If you are a person who appreciates knowing when they are under surveillance prior to a possible encounter, you will not regret this purchase!!!! Truly the best on the market! Footnote: Escort will need to re-evaluate it's product offerings, the R3 makes Escort's current offerings obsolete.

I am shocked by the BSM filters on K band (the good kind of shocked) I am running v1.31 with TSR on with K band at 40% in Adv. Mode..... Working beautiful... Quiet.... Quiet ride is currently off but not many speed cameras around here... My biggest point is I expected the range. I have a BEL STI Driver and also a Magnum..... The last Escort product was a Max360... That will go to the wife..... For all the tricks the Max360 had to stay quiet, the R3 is quieter and almost double the range on KA which is biggest threat here anyway besides laser.... I'm not gonna lie...i like arrows... Owned 3 or 4 Valentine back in the day too...I can't justify giving up 1.5 extra mi of warning, or over a extra min of warning just to have arrows especially when that unit (R3) falses less, a lot less... It's really up to you how much less false you want with the Adv settings and filters on the R3 I can't really afford it right now but Best Buy had one and I'm keeping it!..... Might look for my Max 360 on eBay LOL

Radar stopped working after 21 minutes of use, Plugged back on and turned off itself, no way to silence or mute alerts, is like driving an ambulance I do not recommend this Brand at all , Best Buy must try product before to sell it . Am moving forward to Escort Max 360c

This radar detector has so many problems, it can lock up while you attempt to update it, after you are done updating it, it will most likely not pick up police radar, it doesn’t function nearly as well as the Max 360 by escort, I would definitely spend the extra money to get into the 360 and out of the R3.

Purchased in Ohio. Tried it out on the way back to Mobile. Was stopped within the first hour by an Ohio State Trooper, for speeding. I returned the item to the Best Buy in Mobile and ordered another unit, hoping that I had just got a lemon the first time.

Saved me several times. (I'm definitely not the guy going 5 over in the left lane clogging up traffic.) The GPS lock out are clumsy but everything else is great. Reasonably quiet, GREAT range, reliable. Thinking of upgrading to the R4 but I can't justify it. Maybe I need arrows and the R7 or R8. This purchase is worth it. Any cheaper and you're not going to be happy, and there are plenty of more expensive ones that are not near as good.

A great detector that is not only worth the money... it won't send you to the "poor farm" for buying it either. Depending upon terrain and weather conditions, the detection range could easily be several miles. Plenty of time to check and adjust your speed! Its operation, display, and detection features can be customized to your liking. Another great feature is that it can be updated via your PC easily WITHOUT having to send it away and wait forever for it to be sent back. You can also purchase a "hardwire" kit to power it directly from the fuse block and there are several different mounting solutions available for it too! Mainly though... it does what it's supposed to do, and it does it VERY well with minimal false alerts. Without a doubt the best detector I've ever owned, period!
