Simply put, doesn’t work. I would be going past a state trooper and this thing wouldn’t beep but would beep at a CVS door. Absolutely garbage

Bought this product and less than a month the speaker stopped working. Tried the update and no luck. I didn’t spend 400 bucs for this type of quality.

Does way too much.... All you need is a basic unit... This is way over-kill... By the time you figure out what's up ahead... It may be too late !!

In August of 2018 I took a Jaguar from SIXT rentals in San Francisco to drive down PCH1. As we left the car was rumbling like a 60s Muscle Car and the check engine light was on. We returned the car and grabbed our gear. I had stuffed my Escort Redline under the driver's seat and when we grabbed our packs and bags that detector was left in the car. I checked the SIXT lost and found repeatedly and when I returned in 2019 to bury my father I was given a set of keys to the Jag on their lot. Nothing. It was a state of the art detector and I miss it. Now its summer and I'm ready to do some road trips and the tip top detectors are now 600-700 dollars. Too expensive. My Redline was around $430 back in 2015 dollars. The Uniden R3 can be found for -300. Is it worth it? Heck yes. Ran from IL to VT and I would include the IN-OH-NY area as heavily enforced. Since it was new I did not tweak anything setting wise. X-band- never heard. K-band- set off on stores/malls near interstates, also on vehicles including semis. An officer of the law was using K band in NY State. K-Band is a whistle that increases as you near the source. It will pick up LE radar in towns near the interstate, It's sensitive. Use it with Waze, it will alert you to parked LE using Lazer, also includes GPS to point out speed and red light cameras, 2K miles, I give it 2 thumbs up and I would highly recommend it.

I have not used this item yet as I have not been on the road to see how it works yet.

Disappointed, Passed so many cops without it going off. It was a waste of money.

I have owned this Uniden R3 for over 2 months. I was skeptical at first because I have owned many escorts. I gave escort 360 a 1 month trial. Worked fine. But when I got the Uniden it was in a class on its own. Less false alarms easier to use. Long detection range. GPS lockouts and redlight camera warning. At $399 it’s already paid for it self 3xs over. Less expensive than escort 360 max. W greater performance Uniden is a great detector. Try it for a month. You will love it.

The range on the Uniden R3's are as good or betteer than ANY other radar detector out there. The price is beyond reasonable and its filtering system is great. The GPS lock outs for stationary false alerts is a big plus. Honestly, there's no reason you should consider buying another detector unless you need arrows (like the Valentine one) or your spending less money (which i would not recommend) This Detector makes the Escort Redline EX look like a joke.

Super easy to set up & easy to use. don’t take up much space.

This is my first detector since the 90's I have owned a Whistler and paid big bucks for an escort. I got rid of my hot rod and managed to stay clean for years. Fast forward I now have a job that takes me in a four state region. Most speed limits are 75 up to 85 and as low as 65mph. With that said I found that when your cruising at 85mph one may still push the limits a bit. So I invested in this Uniden R3 Long Range Radar/Laser Detector. I read the reviews and can confirm with out a doubt the range on this is beyond crazy. I have tried to figure out how many miles and the longest Range I have seen has been 4 miles in Colby Kansas. Arrows who needs them. I got an alert KA Band, turn off cruise control and get to posted speed limit. I keep getting hit over and over. I knew the KA was the real thing so I keep the speed and finally saw him in my rear view mirror, he had been running behind me and gunning traffic on opposing lanes. I like the fact you can mark known false alarms and store up to 200 usermarks. The power cord had a nice USB on the plug along with a mute button you can hit for those times you need the very loud beeps and voice to go away. It has built in GPS, with a MPH reading on the unit. It also has speed cameras detection but have not seen it an action yet. I sat at best buy doing research between the Escort max 360 and this Uniden R3 and with out a doubt the long range on this unit puts it in a class all buy itself. I spent two hours watching videos and reading forums and the 360 had high marks but the range is what sold me.

I had to replace my Escort/Passport 8500 and didn't want to spend between $500 and $700. This Uniden R3 really surprised me with how it performed. It is real accurate and picks up radar signals at a long distance. It's a keeper.

I have a V1 and an Escort Redline, two of the top radar detectors. I decided to buy the Uniden R3 because of all the talk about how it has supplanted the Redline as the range King. I can confirm on 34.7 KA that the R3 picks up the signal double the distance of my V1. I haven't tried the Redline recently because of all of the falses. I run my V1 with Savvy, my iPhone and the V1Driver app, so I use the full functionality available. What I really like about the R3 is the range, and the fact that I don't need to use or even connect my phone and still get all of the same features (minus the arrows) of the V1. If Uniden came out with a R4 or something else that was EXACTLY like the R3 but with Arrows, I'd buy it in a heartbeat. I really like the arrows, but I also really like all of the R3 functionality without the use of my phone. I'll keep both and run them at different times, depending on my mood.

This radar detector gives way too many false alarms. I do not recommend this item.

This is the second one I have bought. The first one works so good, I got another for my other truck. Easy to use and give you ample notice of speed traps.

Uniden just updated the FW to v1.50 and now the BSM filtering is borderline perfect. Two simple thoughts. 1) You don't need auto lockouts and 2) you don't really need the front and back arrows but admittedly the intel could help situational awareness. So, save $200 and buy an R3. It is the clear winner with best in class performance, small form factor, and excellent price.

I returned my Escort IX for this and I love it. I've always ran Escort for years but decided to try something different since my Escort IX liked to false alarm on everything. So far this one is quiet and the range detector on this thing just blew my Escort out of the water...its insane. This thing has already saved me so it's already paid itself off.

I bought mine back in February. It has saved me MANY times. The range is excellent. I once picked up a state trooper who had to have been at least 1.5 miles away! It's picks up radar over and at the bottom of hills also...knew he was there before he knew I was! I never leave home without it even on short trips to the grocery store.

Over a 3 year time span, I received 6 speeding tickets and was ordered to complete the defensive driving course not once...but twice. I bought this radar not long after my last ticket, and that was 2 years ago. Coming from someone who was getting a speeding ticket every 6 months, trust me when I say this works wonders at giving notice. Recently though, there have been several times when the radar appeared to be completely dead. I've unplugged it, and plugged it back in and usually within 10 minutes or so, it'll start working like normal again. I wouldn't expect it to malfunction after only 2 years, especially not for the price. Overall, it has saved me from countless tickets,impound fees, etc. so I would still recommend it, just know that there's a chance it will stop working around year 2.
