Customers are saying

Customers find value in the R3 DSP Long Range Radar and Laser Detector, particularly praising its impressive range and overall performance, which is comparable to higher-end models. Users appreciate its radar detection capabilities, accuracy, ease of use, and the inclusion of GPS for camera updates. While some mention false alarms and suggest turning off K band, the detector's size is considered reasonable.

This thing has saved me from many tickets. I can’t believe how far pout it will pick up a radar. Once you have used it a little while you truly know how it works and notice how far off it will alert your to a potential speeding ticket. It also has gps that you can mark spots where police may be sitting and it will give you an alert anytime you are near that spot again. You can do this for many spots and it will remember them all for you.

I drove around for years with an older Escort Passport, and didn't know how in the dark ages I was until I got this R3. Range? Incredible. In upstate NY, state police drive around with Ka band on full blast. This Uniden sniffs them out around corners and over hills so well that I assumed it was giving false positives for awhile. False alerts? Next to none. Uniden seems like a committed company to its customers with regular, free updates, that include more filtering abilities. And if there is a false alert, its very easy to mark as such by double clicking the Mute/Dim button.

Very good unit with almost no false alarms. Has gps chip so you can flag false and location to memory. Very good price compared to other brand with the same features.

The R3 is the absolute best mid tier radar detector in the game. It has been reliable for me, stays way too often being baked in my front windshield, and has never had any issues. I also drive a common route that having markers for areas I need to slow down for is very important, and is heavily policed. No doubt this has saved me money.

This is my first radar detector and I was pleased with the purchase. We decided to buy this since we wanted one on our month long road trip and this did not disappoint. We did get a few false alerts and I think it would pick up signals from other vehicles having radar detectors, but it also correctly alerted us to not only cops and speed detectors, but also picked up oncoming cops from the opposite side of the traffic. We concluded our trip without any violations.

Made a one-way trip across the country. Highway mode alerted me miles prior to actually seeing any speed trap. When it goes off within the next 5 minutes, you'll find out why it went off. Way better than my old cobra.

Very happy with this product. I had an older, cheaper model and just replaced this and used on a trip from Raleigh, NC to Tampa FL and back and it was just amazing. Picked up every cop, hardly any times could I not find what it was signaling, and the temp mute on the plug is very handy. I also like how initial beeps are loud then immediately softens so it gets my attention but does not annoy the crap out of me. Great buy.

It’s a great radar detector and the range is very very solid with minimal false alerts. If you get a KA hit you know there is law enforcement somewhere near by. The only thing I’m bugged about is the return policy. I did want to return it because I wanted to get the best of the best so I bought an escort redline 360C and I was going to return the uniden but I was two days outside the return policy. Kinda bugged and it doesn’t get any hits on KSL

Bought this just before a road trip. It has already paid for itself. Still getting to know the various alerts and figuring out which ones to disregard, but I have found the range on this detector is incredible. The alerts come a long time before you are even close to being within range of police radar. Identifies the signals and starts alerting well over a mile out even with hills and turns ahead. By far the best radar detector I have ever used.

As expensive as tickets are, this is a good investment. Great range and it is easy to use. It has great ratings and is several hundred less than the other top of the line brands I would consider. Great product, especially for the money. Directional indicators would be nice, but I can live without them for the savings. I would not be surprised to see them added soon, but it would require a second antenna and would likely add to the cost.

This uniden has accurately alerted me to just about every police radar ive come close to. With 21,000 miles of highway use i can only say how well its performed. Its so sensitive to ka that most times i have that cop on my radar miles before i even see it! Love it and am buying another one today for my wifes car.

This was my first Radar Detector, honestly don’t have any complaints, I’ve had it for a few months now and it’s saved my @$$ more times than I can count. Picks up state troops and sheriffs very well, small town cops you have less of a warning because their k band signal isn’t as strong.

Very sensitive and lots of settings. Where there are known X/K band alerts (such as in front of big box stores) you can hit the mute button twice (about 1 second between presses) and tag the GPS location of the false alarm. In the future, the detector will auto-mute X and K (and not Ka or Laser) in that location. I also like that you can turn *off* the button backlights, and you can also black out the display completely at night. I do have occasional false laser alerts in direct sunlight.
