Customers are saying
Customers are delighted by the ease of use of the 48-Device Universal Remote, citing its intuitive functions. However, some customers express concerns regarding the remote's price and the need for professional programming. Negative feedback also includes issues with compatibility and battery life, particularly in low-light conditions due to the lack of a backlight. While functionality is praised, the cost and potential programming challenges are significant drawbacks for some users.

Pricey but the features make it worth it
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It is a good remote but with the added expense of programming it should be a GREAT remote. I've had it about 3 years and from the beginning, it could be very slow to respond to channel changing. Forget trying to change channels quickly by number. My husband used to get furious with it. It does move from component to component easily, as I am old school and still have cable box, blue ray, receiver, cd player and Roku. Don't believe if the installer says you'll have to call them back if you get a new TV of a different brand. I just installed a new LG tv last night, changing from a Sony and it works almost as well as before. Still have to get used to the new combo, but it could be good enough to not worry about another programming fee!

Does not live up to sales pitch
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It does not control TVs independently. Only controls cable boxes and other devices. The sales associate understood that we were getting 3 TVs on the same wall and that each TV should operate independently. The Geek Squad installer/programmer said IF we purchased another base device then POSSIBLY each TV could be fully controlled independently. Already $600 into this thing. Another $150 for another base and another $150 charge to reprogram the remote. No thank you.

Died...dead...DOA!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.2 weeks of working fine, the remote went completely dead. I took the batteries out and put them back in, replaced them with new batteries, and it's completely black. I called the Best Buy supervisor, who's contacting the Geek Squad "expert," to get him to call me, which has been a major problem, but that's another story. I have to take it into Best Buy, swap it out for a brand new one, and get back home for the Geek squad guy to reprogram the new one...IF he calls me. I hope this isn't going to be a fight. I just want my equipment to work is all. Not complicated! If I get a new one AND it works, I'll recommend this to a friend...IF!

Worst Remote< Worst Customer Service
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. While I was not necessarily pleased with the remote, I didn't hate it at first as long as it did what I needed it to do. It was set up initially then I bought an upgraded blue ray player and I also purchased a new projector. Of course one cannot update the remote without their software which most companies will not provide. So, the remote is worthless and I cannot get it updated without paying which I will not do. I purchased the remote through my home builder which uses a company to set up the home theater. The company that installed the remote seems to have little or no interest in coming back to my house to update. I also called Universal Remote and spoke to them and they were beyond rude and absolutely worthless. They (a supervisor) told me to just buy another brand if I didn't like it. Why in the world would anyone purchase this remote over another brand where it can be updated via their web site is beyond me. I'll just buy another brand and throw this new remote in the trash where it belongs.

Didn't Last One Month
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. What a complete waste of money. After being reassured multiple times by Best Buy Magnolia guys that these things are reliable and easy to use, mine just completely stopped working after less than a month. AND on the 4th of July when I need it to host a cookout. Now I'm stuck without anything until they can "schedule" a visit to confirm what I already know...it's broken and a piece of garbage! The screen all of a sudden just started flickering white and black.

Worst remote I have ever owned.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My biggest issue and disappointment in Geek Squad/Best Buys recommendations is the URC X-7 remote control. I absolutely hate the this remote! I’m sure it’s of high quality, but it is the most un-user friendly, complicated and poorly designed remote I have ever seen. And what makes it even more sickening is the price I paid for the remote and the programming cost. Save your money and do not let anyone talk you into buying this thing!

Not a good remote
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. No where near as good as a Harmony, which I own at my other house. It is not intuitive to use but worst of all you have to pay Best Buy to make any changes to it. It is probably why they sell it. The user manual is garbage, it points to all the buttons and says what they do. Nothing about how to actually operate the thing. As others have said, sometimes it takes multiple times to get it to work. I got it as part of a home theater set up - my bad for not paying more attention to what they sold me.

Requires Geek Squad programming
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Geek Squad is horrible at programming this product. The geek who shows up has to call someone else who does the programming.
