Small portable projectors don't have the greatest reputation. You tend to run into a lot of deceptive marketing covering up poor performance, lackluster image quality, and compromised software experiences. As such I was more than a little skeptical when firing up the V700 Neo - very much looking for the catch. much to my delight, however, there does not seem to be one. This is a surprisingly capable product that lives up to every promise it makes in regards to the experience it offers.
Initial setup is very simple owing to the fact that it's almost all automated. The projector automatically handles focus and some light keystone correction, with an option for manual control via the remote. Image quality is very good for a single LCD projector. The HD image is sharp and offers good contrast on both a gray projection screen and a smooth white wall. Brightness is enough to be usable in a moderately lit room, though as one might expect for best results you really want to use it in a darkened environment. Motion is very clear and great for watching every movie I tried. For gaming performance I'd describe it as... okay. There's definitely some lag that makes it less than ideal for twitchy games, but it's perfectly fine for more casual use. And the Google TV software provides access to everything you might need for streaming media in a very well laid out interface.
That said, there are a few downsides. Options for hooking up audio devices are pretty limited with no ARC support and just a standard barrel jack or BT connection for external speakers. The built in speakers aren't horrible, to be clear, but they also aren't exceptionally loud and can definitely be a bit overwhelmed by the sound of the cooling fan during normal use. It's also saddled with a large power brick, which is an awkward thing to have to work around if you plan to mount the projector somewhere for a home theater project. and the elevation adjustment is predictably poor, though at this point I'm starting to think that's just a requirement of anyone producing a small projector. I don't consider any of these to be dealbreakers, but it might be worth considering if you plan to make this the centerpiece of a larger project.
Overall, this is an easy recommendation (particularly at this price.) It's a great little projector to bring to events, serve as an occasional second TV, or to run a small home theater.

First up, the image quality. I threw on some 1080p HDR test videos (you know, the ones that make you feel like you’re in a futuristic tech demo), and I was legit impressed. The colors were vibrant, the details were sharp, and there was none of that weird washed-out look you get with cheaper projectors. The “movie” mode is where it’s at—everything just looks so cinematic. The brightness is solid too, though I will say, if you max it out, the fan gets a little loud. Not “ruin the vibe” loud, but noticeable. Stick to standard or eco mode, and it’s way quieter, so no biggie.
Oh, and can we talk about the auto keystone and focus features? why don’t all projectors have this? My setup is kinda awkward screen’s high up and like 12 feet away but the V700 Neo just handled it. It adjusted the image perfectly, no fuss. You can even set it to auto-adjust every time you turn it on, which is such a nice touch.
Now, let’s get into the speakers because holy cow. I was not expecting built-in speakers to sound this good. They’re loud, they’re clear, and they’re totally fine for most setups. Like, unless you’re a hardcore audiophile, you probably won’t even need external speakers. And here’s the kicker—it doubles as a Bluetooth speaker. So, if you’re not watching anything, you can just stream music from your phone. It’s such a flex for a projector in this price range.
Setup was a breeze, too. The remote has voice assistant built-in (because of course it does), and it’s super easy to navigate through apps like Netflix and YouTube. My only gripe? No batteries included with the remote.
Overall, I’m giving the Vankyo V700 Neo a solid 5/5. It’s got great picture quality, surprisingly good sound, and features that make it feel way more premium than it actually is. Whether you’re binge-watching your favorite shows, gaming, or even using it for work, this projector is a total win. Highly recommend giving it a shot—you won’t regret it.

I recently got on the Vankyo V700N Neo 1080P Projector, and I've been using it for a couple weeks. Here's my take on this budget-friendly projector.
Design and Setup
The V700N Neo has a fairly cool design that fits well in my home theater setup. It's compact and lightweight, making it easy to move around or take to different rooms, although my original use for it was in my basement, it’s good enough for me to use in my studio or outside. The setup process is straightforward; just plug it in, connect to your Wi-Fi, and you're ready to go. The auto focus and auto keystone correction features make it easy to get a sharp, distortion-free image without needing to be a tech expert. Auto focus and keystone both need to be in a projector for me to consider them these days and the bot is fairly spot on with this.
Performance and Features
One of the standout features of the V700 Neo is its built-in Google TV platform. This means you can stream all your favorite shows and movies directly from the projector without needing any extra devices. It's super convenient and integrates seamlessly with apps like Netflix and YouTube. This version of Google TV is fully certified, so you will get the full 1080p experience with the streamer’s encrypted streams. This is not a massive processor. It uses a MediaTek MT9630 so the gTV experience is serviceable but not fantastic. I would not recommend it for games but it works well enough for 1080P. I wish they had used a faster processor because I really want my OS to run really fast and smooth.
The projector offers native 1080p resolution with a brightness of 400 lumens, which is okay for this value level. The contrast ratio is 5000:1, helping to create deeper blacks and more vibrant colors. While it's not the brightest projector out there, it works well in dimly lit rooms. If you use it outside, you’ll need to wait unti it’s dark for the best results.
You really need to use this at somewhere betwen 6 and 18 feet because beyond that distance, you will get a little washed out. I tried it in the dark outside and I lost a lot of brightness at past 25 feet. For longer distances, you really gotta look for a laser projector. This one uses backlit LCD technology which is one of the the most basic of the types you can get.
The integrated speakers with Dolby Audio are a nice touch for casual viewing. They won't replace a dedicated sound system, but they're more than sufficient for travel or casual use. You WILL want to plug in or connect to a soundbar or something else. They are only “serviceable” and won’t fill a room, but would you expect that, honestly for this tier of projector?
Ease of Use
Using the V700 Neo is a easy enough. The interface is intuitive, and the remote control makes it easy to navigate through menus and apps. I think the remote is a little light so that means it’s easy to lose.
The projector also supports Bluetooth and Wi-Fi for wireless connectivity, which is handy for streaming content or connecting to speakers. You can cast to it normally from any Android device using the built-in cast feature, and that’s super convenient.
Drawbacks
One of the main drawbacks is the limited brightness, which might not be ideal for very bright rooms. Additionally, there's only one HDMI port, which could be a limitation if you have multiple devices to connect.
I would really like it to include a basic case with it or at least offer one that is exactly the right size.
Final answer:
Overall, the Vankyo V700 Neo is a solid choice for anyone looking for a budget-friendly projector that still delivers good performance. It's perfect for home theaters, gaming, or even business presentations. With its ease of use and built-in streaming capabilities, it's definitely worth considering if you're in the market for a versatile projector. Just keep in mind the limitations in brightness and connectivity. It’s light, easy to work with, and has gTV. So this projector is a RECOMMEND!

This Vankyo - V700 Neo 1080P Projector is really something. It offers a completely immersive viewing experience with a HUGE potential viewing screen and maintains impressive full HD 1080P picture quality, even at long throw distances for that movie theater experience. The integrated speakers offer fantastic out of the box audio if you don’t want to connect external speakers. It also offers a ton of available smart viewing apps and lots of integrated smart features. It has been a long needed and wonderful upgrade to my cinema setup.
Picture Quality is top-notch with its full 1080P resolution. Utilizes LED lighting with LCD display technology for crystal clear image reproduction. The 400-lumen white brightness paired with 5000:1 contrast ration offer bright vibrant colors, deep blacks, and excellent contrast. I was skeptical based on these numbers because they seemed low compared to other more expensive models, but the picture quality on this is truly stunning. Even in a well-lit room the picture quality and brightness are incredible. I have not had any issue using this and still maintaining a great viewing experience even at midday or with room lights on. This lamp is plenty bright. But, of course, this (like any) projector truly shines and brings the movie theater experience to life in a “blacked out” space. Color reproduction is spot-on with the LCD display technology, producing lifelike accuracy of colors that jump off the screen.
Google TV: Love that this is built-in! I’ve had other projectors in the past and it was always an extra step to use with a plugin streaming device like a firestick or other streaming device. Not with this projector. The built-in incorporation of Google TV as the smart platform provides seamless access to all our streaming services, apps, and content. Comes preloaded with many of the typical mainstream apps but also allows the addition of pretty much any other app/service on the google platform in order to ensure you can utilize anything your heart desires. The interface is super quick and responsive and makes it easy to navigate through different apps and discover new entertainment options. This has Wi-Fi for streaming and Bluetooth connectivity for setup. I’m not sure what Wi-Fi standard it runs on, but this connected to my home network with no problems and the speed is very fast with instantaneous response and zero lag or buffering while watching full HD content. Plus, the integration of Google Assistant allows for hands-free voice commands and smart home control.
Gaming Performance: With support for high refresh rates and low input lag via HDMI, this projector is well-suited for gaming, offering smooth and responsive gameplay on an incredibly large immersive screen. The color reproduction and brightness really come out with some of my newer gaming titles when connected to both my PC and PS5.
Audio Quality: The built-in speakers are actually quite impressive and capable of providing sufficient volume while maintaining a clear and crisp audio experience. For regular TV like news and sports the projector speakers alone are quite sufficient and plenty loud. Of course, for a truly cinematic experience, I would recommend pairing this with a sound-bar or home stereo system, and this projector is able to accommodate external audio devices vis the 3.5mm headphone jack.
Design and Build: Super compact design and pleasant overall look of this projector. The tiny footprint and lightweight offer maximum portability and allow this unit to be placed almost anywhere due to its small size. The projector is well-built and solid, ensuring long-term durability even if you’re frequently transporting and possibly using it outdoor as I often do.
Overall Impression: The Vankyo - V700 Neo is top-notch quality at entry level price. It delivers impressive picture quality, incredible smart features, and great performance without breaking the budget.

I’m retired now, but for many years I traveled the world dragging my heavy AV equipment with me giving technical seminars. Back then, a projector with this much brightness, sharpness, and features, would weigh between 8 and 10 lbs. It would require a spare $100+ delicate spare halogen bulb for each trip, because of the probability that the high intensity bulb filament would burn out in the middle of a presentation. Not too long ago, projectors did not have the Bluetooth and WiFi capabilities of the Vankyo – V700. That lack of flexibility in old projectors meant that extra equipment like media players, sound amplifiers, mixers and various cables had to be carried around too. We live in wonderfully technological times. This projector is not powerful enough for auditoriums, but normally auditoriums come with their own AV systems installed. This is an excellent choice if you give presentations in smaller hotel rooms with 20 or so people. The 1080P resolution allows the audience to see the details that you’re trying to present on the screen. With nothing but a decent Wi-Fi connection available the V700’s capability of accessing Apps such as YouTube, means that if your presentation is on the internet as a YouTube video, you can simply show it to your audience with this projector. The Vankyo V700 uses the Android operating system found on many current televisions. You’ll be able to cast video and audio signals from your phone to this projector, just like you do to an Android television. The interface will look very familiar and operate the same way. For better reliability with high resolution video, I prefer to connect my phone directly to the projector with the supplied HDMI cable using an HDMI to USB-C adapter
FEATURES:
· Light source LED. (This makes it rugged for transport).
· Comes with 6-foot power cable, 5-foot HDMI male in/out cable, a Remote Control
· Two internal 8-watt speakers and 6mm outlet jack for headphones or audio amplifier
· HD (native 1080P) Bright (400 lumens) output
· Comes with a 6-foot power cable, a 5-foot HDMI male in/out cable and an IR Remote Control
· Auto and manual key-stone alignment and focus
· Can be voice controlled with Google Home Commands
· 3 selectable output brightnesses
· Net Weight 4.4 pounds
· Can be secured to wall ceiling with 1/4'” screws. Image can be switched between normal, mirror and upside down for projection options.
· Warranty: 30-day full replacement. 2-year limited warranty (see www.ivankyo.com for details)
PROS:
· Light weight and small size make it an excellent travel projector
· Auto and manual key-stone alignment and focus make it easy and fast to set-up.
CONS:
· Cooling Fan is somewhat noisy at full brightness (but fine at low and medium brightness).
· Auto and manual key-stone alignment and focus keep trying to override manual settings that are sometimes necessary in unusual venues. All it takes is a physical bump to the projector and all of your manual settings have to be redone.
· From this review you can see that I think of this as a travel projector. That makes the lack of an included carrying case very disappointing. All it would take is a zippered leatherette or fabric lightly padded case, the same size as the cardboard box that the projector came in. With a travel case I could carry it on the plane and toss it (gently) into the overhead aircraft storage with no worries.
CONCLUSION:
You could spend a lot more money on high end projectors for a home theater system, but as I’ve tried to make clear, I think Vankyo - V700 Neo 1080P Projector, is an excellent choice for the traveling presenter.

This is a very capable projector with an extended capability which is that it has Google TV incorporated into the projector - wow. Tip of the cap to the engineers for adding this functionality. There is a quick start guide and a well-done user manual supplied with the projector along with an HDMI cable. Several long q-tips are also provided for cleaning as needed – look on the bottom of the projector for cleaning instructions – this is a nice and very easy cleaning feature.
The screen size can be varied and the max projection size is recommended at 90 inches, this makes a very good movie-theater-size of TV. The unit does have an extendable foot, so no need to prop it up with a book which otherwise may have been needed. A ¼ inch threaded hole is available to hang the projector from the ceiling as well – very handy and I used the ceiling hanging option.
There are amazing features for autofocus and auto keystone correction that work really well. The unit will magically level a projection. The technology is first rate for this unit. The projector also has the functions to work with Google Home and the ability to 'cast' from a laptop or cell phone. I tested these functions and they are great. The software allows you to use any app to project via your cell phone apps. I tried a few like Gmail and the unit displayed the app contents with my inbox items right on the big screen – great. Casting was also very simple. I would recommend running through the projector’s menus to see all the great capabilities.
I did encounter a problem trying to first use this projector with Google Home. It seemed the Quick Start guide wanted me to connect the WiFi via adding a device to Google Home but this did not work for me. I was not able to utilize a WiFi connection even though the app said it was connected. I then selected the prompt to use 'Basic TV' instead of Google Home and was able to connect and display the normal app menu that included streaming apps like Prime, YouTube, HULU etc. This approach was successful. Later when I opened Google Home the projector was also there. This point might help other users avoid my misfire; and possibly the Vankyo folks can make the quick start process more clear.
The projected display was excellent; bright and colorful. The sound may actually be the most powerful and superior asset for this projector. I was very impressed with the bass, the higher volume ability and no audio distortion. Relative to price versus performance this projector is an outstanding value and I highly recommend this wonderful unit.

Very impressed with what you get for the money with this Vankyo v700 Neo 1080P projector. I wanted to focus on value as much as overall quality with this review. I have a large living room and have an Epson 2150 projector there and this is NOT a replacement for that. The Epson is brighter, sits further from the screen and can produce a larger image. It also costs about 4 times as much and consumes about 2x as much power. I wanted something a little cheaper and smaller that is easy to use and more mobile and this projector really knocks it out of the park.
My initial set up was a bit frustrating as I didn’t think the picture looked great. But I soon discovered I was just going for a larger image than this device should be used for. Once I adjusted the projector to about 9 feet from the wall things started looking much better. Getting it a couple feet closer produced a bright and crisp image. I quickly signed into the wifi and my Google account. The auto screen adjustments work pretty well. I had to do some minor manual adjustments to get things perfect but the auto focus and corner keystone features works pretty well. I also think the speakers are decent. My main system is for movie night with its 122” screen and nine speakers. While using the onboard speakers clearly won’t rock the house they still sound pretty good. The remote is perfectly fine with good response time. It is so nice having a single device has so much built in streaming content, it really makes it very versatile to use.
All in all I think this is a very solid choice for the price. Easy to set up, easy to move, good video quality, built in streaming options and decent on board speakers. The auto focus and screen adjustments work pretty well and just ads to the overall ease of use, especially for moving it around. If I had a friend looking for a lower priced projector I would absolutely recommend this device!

Overall, this is a solid but not perfect projector.
The first impressions are that this projector is big. But then again this is my first LCD projector, as I have used DLP projectors in the past. But looking at the unit, it has a removable lens cover on the front. The rear features a DC input using a dedicated power brick (no USB-C and no battery on this unit). A single USB-A, and an HDMI input, along with a single analog 3.5mm audio jack out. It does feature a tripod mounting socket on the bottom as well as an adjustable foot to elevate the unit when placed on a table. The back and sides feature ventilation and speaker grills. Overall, it seems well made. The remote control is also well made and even includes batteries.
As a projector, this gets most things right, and I am rather impressed with the engineering that went into this. It features a noteworthy auto-focus mechanism. It features a motion sensor, so that it can detect when it has been moved. After moving, it goes through an auto-focus routine where it projects a pattern (unfortunately, this means interrupting whatever you are watching), and it moves the focus point. A camera built into the front detects when the screen is in focus. In addition, there is a pattern in each corner so that it can tell when each corner is in focus. Because of this, it can determine the distance on each corner so that it knows how to automatically adjust for keystone (needed if the projector is off–axis from the screen). So it does all of this as if by magic, making sure that the screen is always rectangular. The only downside is that it does not fit the image to the entire LCD array, but that can be fixed by going into the menus for “Image Correction” and then “Zoom and Shift” in order to use all of the array. You can also easily adjust focus and keystone manually, and I am impressed with the control that the user is given in this regard. The only negative is that the keystone adjustments are done electronically, by moving the image around on the LCD. This means that if the projector is very much off-axis, you cannot get all portions of the screen in focus at the same time. But I was not expecting that at this price, and was still impressed with the options that it does have.
Being LCD instead of DLP, the blacks are not truly black, but I did not expect that at this price point. The image can be set to three brightness levels, with more brightness meaning more fan noise. That is probably my biggest complaint about this projector is that it can be very noisy. But being an LCD that breathes air, there is a concern about dust getting on the internal display. A cleaning kit is included, but unfortunately the instructions on the bottom of the unit say that a sticker needs to be peeled off of the bottom in order to remove a panel to gain access to the LCD in order to clean it. Having to remove a sticker just seems a bit cheesy. But still, it is nice to have the option and the instructions.
The final thing is the operating system installed. It uses Google TV, which seems to be adequate. It comes with the most popular streaming apps preloaded, and it is possible to add more. The problem that I encountered is that it has the option to add more channels, but when I searched for the ones that I wanted to install (Hoopla TV, and Legacy Tablo), they were not found. However, if I used my computer to go to the Google Play store, I could add the same apps from there. Not the most convenient way to install things, but at least it was possible. Also, the user interface was a bit sluggish. It would sometimes take a few seconds for button presses to be acknowledged. But it does eventually get the job done. Not perfect, but at least usable. But if Google TV really bothered me, it would not take much to add a Roku using the HDMI input.
So, the summary is that this is a solid projector. It is not perfect, and it could benefit from a quieter fan and a faster CPU inside. But it still gets the job done, and I am happy to have it.

This is the first media projector I've owned and I can't tell you how much I love this thing. I'm not a huge media nut so having the perfect home theater set up with a support high end projector isn't something I'm looking for. But a fun inexpensive projector that I can move around for family movie night is something I've always wanted and this thing checks all the boxes.
The most important aspect of any projector is how does the picture look. I was very pleased with the quality of the image. This projector has a fancy auto focus feature that means you don't have to worry about getting the picture dialed in. You just set it and you're good. We just used a regular white wall as the back drop and I couldn't tell you how clear the picture was. It was absolutely perfect and at 100 or so inches I was shocked say how crisp it was.
The built in Google tv means you really don't need anything else to connect to this box. It has everything app you could want and it's superiority snappy doing it. If you've ever used Google tv or android tv you'll be right at home.
The only downside is the bullet in speaker. I would say it's almost unusable. Is super quiet even say 100%. But it's honestly not a huge deal since you can easily connect a speaker via Bluetooth.
Overall this is the perfect affordable family movie night projector.

What I like most about this unit is that it is basically a smart TV in a projector format (it uses the Google TV platform). All of the typical streaming services (Netflix, YouTube, etc.) are located on the home screen - and you use the provided remote to select / configure / program the setup like any smart TV.
The device size is decent - not tiny, but not large by any means. I find the autofocus feature quite nice (no worries about manually focusing the thing). The picture quality is sharp and quite good (1080p). This is a projector that you will want to use in a darkened room (it is not really for use in a room with a lot of daylight). This unit throws a good size image on the wall.
The setup takes a while to connect to your WiFi and to get everything running. That is not a biggie though since the setup is intuitive and the interface / home screen is equally as intuitive once that you have it set up.
Although the projector has a built-in speaker, you will want to use external sound. The unit has HDMI and mic ports to accommodate external connections.

So far this has been a great mid entry level projector. It has a ton of features and the video is actually pretty good for a 400 lumens / 1080p projector.
It was questionable at first how well this would look once i got it all setup.
I have had a few projectors in the past from expensive to super cheap, so when this one arrived I immediately questioned how bright it would be.
In the daylight with the sun blaring in, it's a no win here. I could barely make out images on the screen, with that being said I wasn't expecting much for only 400 lumens, now outside of the obvious, at night this thing is a beast.
The picture clarity is really good and the brightness is as good as it should be.
The image auto fits and adjusts to your screen based on distance, and it does it well.
The projector produces a good picture, with a lack luster audio budget. If you can provide your own audio I would recommend it, however in a pinch the audio on the device works decent enough, just don't expect a great movie experience with the onboard audio.
The onboard plethora of apps and options is staggering to say the least, you will not be left empty handed here, definitely a winner in the sense of availabe choices.
Since you are able to push the video through the back of a screen, I decided to purchase a second screen (cloth screen) so I can hang it on my front window and display some fun Halloween & Christmas videos during the holidays... should provide some fun later this year.
Pros:
wifi
google tv w/thousands of apps (Netflix, youtube, etc)
google cast & google assistant
built in streaming w/wide content access
Quick launching projector
auto focus & keystone makes for quick environment changes (includes auto obstacle avoid & auto screen fit as well which is nice)
1080p / 400 lumens
HDMI in
Cons:
fan noise is on the the loud side (dont sit close to it)
not day (light) friendly
onboard speakers aren't the best
only 1 HDMI in
Features:
Standard throw (max dist. 20')
Bluetooth
front/rear, desktop & ceiling installation
aspect ration 16:9
contrast ratio 5000:1 dynamic contrast ratio
LED bulb life 20,000 hrs
Mount type free standing
Overall this is a really solid entry level projector. I have not had any issues with it so far, essentially the unit does what it says it does and does it well, at night this thing is a real champ. I would definitely recommend the v700 Neo.

Great alternative to a TV

We recently moved into our new home and I was looking for a tv for my garage. I like to be able to watch Youtube or a movie whenever I'm turning wrenches in my garage.
Although I initially was looking at mounting a TV in my garage, the opportunity to give the Vankyo - V700 Neo 1080P Projector with Google TV came up. Boy am I happy that I got this opportunity. Not only did the Vankyo - V700 Neo 1080P Projector with Google TV save me room in the garage (no having to hassle with hanging a tv on a wall), but I now get a huge screen, great audio quality, and incredible picture.
Luckily, I already had a ceiling mount for the projector. The only thing that I did pick up was a projector screen that I can easily roll up and down whenever I want to watch something in my garage.
If you are mounting the projector on the ceiling, it can take some time, but if not, you will be up and running in a matter of minutes. Once you get logged in to your Google account, it's smooth sailing from there. I really was stunned with the picture quality. For such a compact projector, and at a reasonable price, you realy can't go wrong with the Vankyo - V700 Neo 1080P Projector with Google TV.
I would highly recommend the Vankyo - V700 Neo 1080P Projector with Google TV to anyone. It is a great alternativce to a super expensive TV.

With winter on the wane and summer just around the corner, I was in the market to get a projector for our backyard movie nights. We live in Texas, and literally from April through October can be movie night if it is not raining
Honestly I have never heard of Vankyo, but the feature set grabbed my attention
Unboxing was uneventful with just enough packaging to protect, but not so much to frustrate
Set-up was an absolute breeze.
I used an inflatable outdoor screen and dialed in the projector in just a few minutes. You will want a small table or TV tray to get it off of the ground
Focus was super easy and clear once done
Of course I had to run an extension cord for the necessary power
I chose to connect it wirelessly to my network and use the native apps to show the content. I did not need a phone, iPad or any other device
I also chose to use the internal speakers which had plenty of volume for a small group. If you have 10 or more, I would recommend a set of bluetooth speakers to compliment the audio
Lastly, the brightness was sufficient with a reasonable throw, and perfect with a darkened sky

I haven’t been a big fan of going out to the movies for a while. What can I say, I like the big screen and snacks but I also like my own space. A good projector can help with that, get the movie experience without actually going to the movies. The Vankyo V700 fit the bill for me, not least of which because it has some great features without hurting your wallet too much.
For the price, I love the features available with this projector. One of the biggest pluses for me is that it has Google built-in. That’s a big plus for making it easy to watch right from the projector. You can also mirror from your phone, so anything you can watch on your phone, you can watch with the projector.
In all honesty, yeah, the speakers kind of suck but I feel like that’s almost a given at this price point and there are options for connecting different speakers to help with this issue.
I think you’d be hard pressed to find another projector at this price point that offers the features this one has, which is why I kept the review at 5 stars.

The Vankyo V700 Projector is a very budget friendly projector that can satisfy those looking for a simple, affordable, and mobile projector, as long as they remember what they paid for this projector. In all honesty, when it comes to this projector, the value truly is a story of goldilocks...just about right.
Unboxing you will find a quick start guide that provides zero information about setup or using. This quick start guide can be thrown away. There is another instruction manual that has a lot more relevant information in how things work. Unit itself is light enough to be portable, heavy enough to feel like it will last, and has a basic camera tripod threaded mount on the bottom. A remote, power cord (short) and HDMI cable are included. The projector has a lens protector and can be placed on a table/shelf, or mounted from a ceiling. I did not find any documentation about image throw specs, however when comparted to my other projectors, it does appear consistent (approximately 10 inches of screen size per foot from the screen). This projector does have GoogleTV as well built in speakers, both of which are adequate, but far from exceptional.
When setting up the projector, the on screen prompts will walk you through setup. When attempting to connect, the projector will appear as a Google TV, not Vankyo or a Projector. Although a screen is not required, it is greatly beneficial as this projector has an auto keystone setting that is not perfect, however will get you very close. A dedicated projector screen is also very beneficial as the brightness of his projector is not great. If you are looking to watch movies under starlight, this projector should do you just fine. Or if you have a basement area dedicated to media in which there is no outside light in the room, this projector would probably do just fine. But do not expect to be wowed by the display or output, even on the brightest setting.
The on board GoogleTV software is present and functional, however it is slow and a little clunky. If you are going to use this projector daily, it will test your patience. However if its only a special occasion device where you sit to watch a 2+ hour program at a time, it will do fine.
As I stated before, the price point and value of this printer are on par. Its an inexpensive projector that will give you an entry level projector with a few cool features. As long as you understand that, you will be satisfied. I would be interested to see if Vankyo offers a higher tier model for around $100 more that corrects a few of this projector's downfalls.
