Works as it should. It was easy for me to set up and the price was great.

Tried to transfer and VHS video tape to DVD via my computer and the sound was very poor. Not sure if it's the VHS tape (approx 20 yrs old) or the device itself. Would return the item but outside the 30 day return policy and would like to buy a unit the contains the VHS player/recorded and DVD to transfer directly.

Significant degradation between Firewire and Component video cables and the price for this hardware is "get what you pay for". NONETHELESS, If you want to ensure those old VHS home movies can withstand the test of time in a digital format, this will meet those needs. I bought this because my mniDV camcorder will not export via Firewire anymore. Thus, I wanted to make sure that before this 16 yr old "digital" camcorder goes completely kaput, I should transfer the footage. Where this package lacks is the finesse (transport controls and the editing functions) like non linear editing like Adobe Premier used to manage flawlessly in 1999-2001. AGAIN, this thing is a bargain. Quality could just be a tad I'm[roved though.

This is a great product for digitizing family memories that were captured on VHS.

It was pretty easy to setup and it did transfer the video form a vhs player. The quality was okay.

Needed to transfer old tapes to DVD and this software filled the bill . Was easy to use .

If you have this program and an old VCR you can record your old video to dvd or to a computer file like M4a. I think it has other settings you can choose also. It is pretty easy to hook up. You don't need a TV. You run the output from the VCR to this small box (the product) and then it turns it into a signal that goes to the computer via USB. When I connected it up and turned it on I was able to figure it out pretty easily. The program provided has a window with a a small TV so you can see what is going on the video. You can set a timer and make it record for an hour or something like that. You can also take out commercials, But it is a little time consuming. You would have to pause the recording and forward through the commercial. But it could be done if you wanted to. I am not making dvds but computer files instead. You can make them larger or smaller files. One thing to make a note of is exactly where the video file is being stored on your computer.

This performs perfectly for transferring those mounds of old family movies on VHS to a digital format.

I read the reviews on this and it had mostly positive remarks. I bought it based on that. I took it home and installed the software, then hooked up a DV camera to it. It had issues with the sound at first. It wouldn't play through the software. Then after messing around with it, only the audio worked. I tried different cables. Same thing. I had another DV camera and it had the same problems. I had a DC hum, too, using different cables and cameras. This makes me believe it was a hardware issue. I wasn't impressed with the software either. Went back to Best Buy. Wasn't worth trying another one. I will look for another solution.

Always wanted to turn old VHS movies to DVD, so easy to use.

Its nice being able to transfer all the old school movies to dvd and such.

Needed an inexpensive option to transfer multiple vhs' to my hard drive. This product got the job done without any issues, and the program associated with it was relatively user friendly and was no problem to use.

It is a easy product to use.. getting all vcr movies on dvd. great.

BOUGHT THIS SOFTWARE TO COPY OLD FAMILY MOVIES AND OLD VHS TO SMALLER DVD FORMATS.

good conversion capability, but the editing software could be better
