Pros: It worked with windows 10 of course. Cons: The upgrade is not even worth repurchasing but had to due to being in a middle of a task. Have to buy another unit instead of getting a firmware update so that my previous windows 7 version can work with windows 10. Their customer service is trash. They did not help me with the incompatibility issues, never returned my calls & pretty much gave me no choice but to buy a new unit (even though there’s nothing wrong with my existing one) if I wanted to finish my project.

After some difficulties installing the product it finally worked well. I had to download the drivers as they weren't recognized when i installed them off the DVD and I had to download a patch, I also had to ultimately contact Honestech support by email and they gave me an immediate response which finally got the program working properly. Once those kinks were taken care of the program performed well. I've saved several family videos from VHS to digital. I will convert one of the digital files to a DVD as a gift. It was quite easy to use and it appears to produce a decent digital file. The VHS tapes were a result of a very old style video camera so not of great quality so the quality of the digital file is as good as the tape. Since some of my tapes are quite boring and lengthy pictures from previous Christmas' I will be using the feature that allows me to edit the length of the video and remove scenes that I want to remove. So, it does work. If you are having difficulties with the program check out their website for anything you might need to download and contact their support if you need help. Their support seemed to be customer focused.

My sister had an earlier version and said she loved it which is why I bought this without doing any research. It's easy to use, straight-forward and cheaper than taking VHS tapes to other places to have them convert it to DVD.

This little box worked perfectly with our old VCR. The included software installed smoothly on Windows 10, and from there, all I had to do was plug in the VCR to the conversion box via composite cables (yellow / red / white) and then plug the conversion box into the computer via USB. The software walked me through the steps with its "wizard" mode, which is a quick, no-frills way to simply convert a tape without adding any extra frills like DVD menus and title cards (though that's possible in the "advanced" mode). All I had to specify was the recording length and the burning speed / DVD title (when converting and burning straight to DVD -- it's also possible to save the conversion on the computer as a media file). That's it! The tape played through, and the software / hardware converted and recorded it on the fly in digital format. I've used this to convert a number of old home movies so far. It also seems to work with copyrighted and protected videos. So far I haven't run into any problems with any tape. The audio and video quality of the converted files is identical to the quality of the original tapes, which is all I care about. It also seems possible to record gameplay from videogame consoles, though only via composite video. If you're looking for HD conversion for videos, games, or the like, this isn't the product for you. But if you're looking to convert old tapes or record footage from old game consoles like the NES or Playstation, go for it!

I was very concerned about the time it took to transfer VHS tapes to DVD and with this purchase, it made it so much easier, plus I was able to review the tapes and delete sections I did not want.
