Button on remote is hard to press and cannot get a new remote to work have to spend more time at Bby getting another programmed because it only comes with one

Very unhappy customer
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have an old 2010 Ford Escape, and this was the only remote start system that is compatible with my car. The installation at Best Buy took around 3 hours, so it's best to have someone pick you up as there is no waiting area. I have giving a 1 star review for two reasons: 1) I keep getting an error that my car hood is open, but the hood isn't actually open. Because of this error, the remote start doesn't actually start my car and I need to return to Best Buy to have them fix this issue. 2) The remote that comes with this kit is absolutely terrible. I thought I would be fine with a 1-way remote with limited range since my car is parked in front of my house where I can easily see it, but the remote is very finnicky and does not work reliably. I will need to pay an additional $120 to upgrade the remote.

Don't Do It !

If you like being stranded due to technical glitches then this is the alarm for you. I can't count the times this Viper alarm has left me stranded. The remote FOB will not read the computer brain to the alarm. Locked out with no response. (Locked out without cell service to call AAA) Other times would not start. Just a flashing remote lit up. Three remotes later no change. Got to the point of not knowing if I was going to be able to make it home let alone gain access to my vehicle or is it going to start. Other times it would let me in start and drive just to have alarm go off half way down to block. Brilliant ! I tried to have Best Buy automotive personnel remedy this problem to no avail. They were as lost as I was trying to reprogram this alarm. That's when I threw in the towel. Game Over. Now uninstalled I know I'm going to make it home and have access to my vehicle without all the ridiculous trouble this gave me. Highly recommend AVOIDING this alarm ! Save yourself the grief.

Misleading Advertisement by Viper & Best Buy

This is very misleading because the front cover shows the phone and the app however that is only for short distances (150' I think). The actual remote start is 1-way and is the very basic Viper remote. Overall it leads you to believe you're purchasing the best option Viper has. Read the packaging very very carefully. Viper is a great product but this particular package is misleading and a big disapointment. As for Best Buy, they say that installation is included well that's because they tack on $109 adder to the remote start price!! Very very sneaky! I was planning on installing it myself anyway and then when I realized the misleading fact that this is a very basic Viper model, I took it back to Best Buy and they were only going to refund me $90! Free installation actually means we'll wrap it into the price for you! They were super awesome about returns as usual but I just wanted a remote start for my car plain and simple without the sneaky tactics!

Installation Disappointment!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.We had this installed today and when they completed it after 5 PM, the heat and air controls (blower included) no longer work at all! Could not get anyone at this store to answer the phone when we called (Owensboro, Kentucky store). Upon returning to the store, the manager (Anderson) told us that he would have someone call us on Thursday morning (This is Monday evening and we have made 2 trips at 140 miles total). It is Monday evening, snowing, and will be 22 degrees in the morning. We now have no heat to defrost even a window after this remote start installation! How is this not a priority to call us and address it in the morning first thing??? We have been told to go three days without anything! How do we defrost the windows in the morning? We purchased a product and an installation with the expectation of Best Buy standing by their work and doing it properly. I am beyond disappointed!

Additional harness required and unreliable

Plus, you cannot install this yourself. Best Buy won't even let you take it out of the store as their install is required. These are very simple to install and program yourself if it was allowed, and had instructions. They tech at Best Buy also told me these are unreliable. I returned mine, and went with the one from 12 Volt Solutions

After buying this I called to schedule, and the the scheduler said it was mandatory to purchase three more parts (this isn't listed anywhere on the product page and the "car matcher" stated it fitted my car). And confirmed it's a "complete kit". So, I wouldn't honestly buy or book online... I'd go into the store... Trying to get an answer over the phone left me bounced around for over an hour.

No free install!

Bought this from bestbuy.com, scheduling was a nightmare for the install. When i get there they tell me how the viper remote start is horrible and that its bad for the car. I stuck with the viper and then they called and left a voicemail saying i need a harness for the remote start and pay for labor on that. Then you cannot reach them to call them back. When speaking to management they say the install is included but you need additional parts and labor that you have to pay for it.

Seemed like it worked okay but then I noticed that no matter how high I left the defrost fan on to defrost and warm up the car that the blower never turns on when it is remote started. Took it back to BB and they said Ford climate control systems have an automatic temperature that brings on the fan. Took it to Ford, no such thing on my car, I have a base model Escape so only manual control on the fan but BB didn't hook something up correctly. THEN we spent about two weeks just getting someone on the phone at the store, no luck, had to make a fuss on Facebook to get a response. Finally someone called and still insisted that it is a limit that Ford set and that no aftermarket remote start will work right on my car, they said, "the reason why the blower does not work in these vehicles, is because the aftermarket remote starts only use the data in the vehicle to use the factory remote start that came with the vehicle. There is 100% no way for them to bypass this, per multiple technicians." I don't even know what that means. VERY unhappy with this remote start that does NOT do what it is intended to do and VERY unhappy with Best Buy overall. So be warned, if you have a newer Ford and want the car to defrost, don't waste your money on this VIPER thing. Also, this comes with a ONE way remote, so if you live in an apartment like I do, you have no way of knowing whether or not the car started and the button is hard to push. Stay away from this thing.

Can't schedule installation

When I went to book the install through Best Buy they said they only had 3 stores in my area that could do it and they were booked through February 2023! Not helpful to not be able to get it installed until its warmer out!

The car dealer now said that there's something wrong with the car starter that is draining our vehicle battery.

Problematic product not worth having
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased one of your car starter bundles for my wife for Christmas and am highly dissatisfied with the product. Since being installed she's had to return to the installer to reset the system countless times because it sporadically goes off and engages its alarm while she's driving her car. Not only is that dangerous to her from being horribly surprised by the sudden alarm sounding off on the road, but it is a great inconvenience to have to take time to drive to the installer to drop her vehicle off to be reset. It has become so much of a burden that I recently learned that she has stopped using the system in its entirety which now eliminates the alarm system that I intentionally got for her safety, but also has made my gift to her a complete waste of money. I have been trying to find contact information on Viper to reconcile this issue, and this website suggests that I contact my authorized dealer that sold and installed the system. Well after being on the phone with them for an hour they were also unable to give me a phone number to contact Viper. At this point I am not sure how responsive I can expect a company that is so evasive to be.

Horrible Customer Service

I purchased this remote start which includes installation, had install date for 12/26, received call that tech scheduled to install was off due to covid, understandable and had rescheduled at another store by their representative who called from Olympia who scheduled at Lynnwood store for 12/28. Received call from Lynwood store that only two people do this type of install on Sunday and earliest can do would be January 24th. Can't wait for next call. This is not first bad experience with bad service, but it is last one, I am done with Best Buy, I will never step foot in their stores or purchase anything from them. This type of business deserves to go out of business.
