The presentation on the site said it was a package deal - the item and the installation. Hidden deep in the fine print was the "special circumstances." charge, which ended up costing the recipient of this gift well over $100. Pretty disappointed that Viper and BBY would market an offer like this.

Not a complete system

When she tried to make an appointment, they told her she would need additional parts and labor which would push the price over $410. What a disappointment. We returned the product and went to a local shop where they installed a much nicer 2-way unit for $450. I know they say additional parts may be required but that's ridiculous - there should be some way to estimate the total cost before purchasing this piece.

Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.i live in brooklyn and i purchased this beecause it seemed like a great remote starter and i liked the fact that it said it includes installation but when i got it they told me that my local bestbuy dosnt do installation and end of story they never installed it 4 me and its sitting in my closet collecting dust

Function But Remote Is Poorly Designed

I'm on my third casing. Each time the company sends me a new one, but it takes time and is a huge hassle. This is my second Viper product. The other is/was for my car. It too broke and because it could not be found, the company would not replace it. I've tried the 800 number a couple times-they are very friendly but it takes a long time to connect. At any rate, the product shows promise, but a better design would make all the difference.

not cost effective
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.install was fine. problem is for the smartstart system it cost an additional $100 per yr or $300 3 yrs. now 4+ yrs later need a new module to upgrage to 5g network and have to pay for installation again. i would skip this system altogether not cost effective
