It's good, but not great. It doesn't have a notification light which is a big negative for a phone this pricey. I downloaded light manager for screen notifications, but it was too power hungry so I uninstalled and just lived with no notification light. I really dislike the chrome finish on the perimeter b/c just breathing on it will scratch it. The octa-core 1.4Ghz is not very snappy. There is definite lag time when opening apps unlike the S series which is very snappy. Battery life isn't what I thought it'd be for 3000mAh and it takes forever to charge. The camera is not very good. It is quite pixelated and has a cheap interface. Plus the "back" and "show all" buttons at the bottom do not light up. Again, c'mon, man. On the plus side, the HD screen size is hard to beat and has a good feel in the hand. The speaker is also nice and loud. I also think the Samsung Keyboard is unmatched. Very easy on the eyes and seamless. Love the emoticons and the ease with which I can enter them. In my opinion, you are paying for the Samsung name, Android Marshmallow, large HD screen, the Samsung Keyboard, good external speaker, smart application manager and 16GB onboard w/ 2GB ROM. I'd rate this as Samsung B-/C+ stock due to the lag time, no notification light or bottom lights, not so great camera and not great battery life. I expected more, but I guess that's why they have the S series. I'm just not willing to pay more for that, and think that for the features available and the quality of the build this phone is overpriced. But as far as Virgin Mobile phones go, it is a 5. I've had many, and this is one of the best thus far. Just a shame no notification and bottom lights. That's Bush League. For a phone that retails for $230 those features should be included.

I got this phone after my Samsung Galaxy S3 died. There are some definite advantages w/this phone, but I don't like how much bigger it is. Still getting used to all of the quirks.

It's no high end phone but it does it's job. It's limited in speed so don't expect iPhone quality.

Before I review this product,I'd like to give you some details about my phone plan.I am currently with Virgin, and,I've been using my iPhone 4 for more than a couple of years,I was one happy person, because Virgin gave me 5$ per month discount for using iPhone ,plus the phone itself was doing a pretty good job...BUT.....couple of months ago I realized that my options with iPhone 4 are very limited,MAJORITY of my apps were not working, because all of them required ios 8 in order to function properly, obviously it is impossible to update iPhone 4 to ios 8....I realized that I need to buy a new iPhone with ios 8 in order to use basic apps like Pandora or BestBuy...the phone slowed down and I had to restart it few times a day.I felt like if I was forced to buy a new iPhone, though my iPhone 4 looks like new and doesn't have even a single scratch on it.I decided to buy iPhone 5s,but then realized, that, probably in two years I will have to upgrade it again due to new ios version that is incompatible with older version of iPhone.Though I own multiple Apple products at home and I love them,I refused to buy an iPhone again. My gf advised me to buy J7,which I did after reading reviews, which in fact are mostly positive.I am in love with this huge screen and the camera is great in comparison to my previous phone.I'm amazed with the sensitivity and response rate of the screen and the sound is awesome. Doesn't freeze and finally I AM ABLE TO USE ALL OF MY APPS that permanently froze or crushed on my previous phone. Virgin voided 5$ discount after I disconnected my iPhone 4.

This phone would be amazing...IF the screen wasn't so fragile. I always keep a case on my phone, but twice in three months I have ended up with a shattered screen due to relatively short drops. The second time it even fell on a carpet! I have never had a phone break as easy as this. If you are brave enough to buy this get the insurance. I will be shopping for a different phone this time.

This is a cheap version of the galaxy 3. Legit - camera is horrid. And sound quality is equal to being underwater.

Bought this nearly a month in advance as a gift. Recipient said camera was not a good quality. Attempted to return it, but since I had missed the January 15, 2017 deadline, my return was not accepted. So I ended up out of $180, and basically penalized for purchasing an item in advance as a gift. Will think seriously before I purchase another cell phone or any gift from Bestbuy.

I was looking to replace my LG Volt, which was an okay phone for the price I paid, but there were too many annoying bugs and it was hardly ever updated (thanks LG). I learned my lesson from the last time when I waited until my phone died (Galaxy G2) and had to scramble searching for a decent replacement without doing much research. I had a hard time deciding among the new mid-priced phones available now but decided on the J7. I'm so glad I did. There were a couple of annoying things about it that were different from my previous phone but I learned to work around them. For example, the lack of notification lights on the front of the phone was disappointing because I had become so accustomed to relying on that feature. However, I found an app that has filled that need and has calmed me down lol. It's called “LED Blinker light” and it saved my sanity! Another feature that was lacking - and it is not the phone's fault I guess but more the Marshmallow operating system - is the inability to customize and rename folders and shortcuts. I'm still baffled as to why this was eliminated in Marshmallow when I could easily do it in Kit Kat. Again, this problem was easily resolved for me by using a third party app called "Website Shortcut.” What a lifesaver. Aside from these two things, I am very happy with this phone. The screen is very large but like anything, you adjust. There is one-handed operation available to help with this when needed but I do not use it often. This phone is very fast and I have not found any obvious annoying bugs. I am also thrilled about the 16GB internal storage although it does worry me the amount of bloat ware that is preinstalled. You can't move apps to SD card and that worries me too. Will I eventually run out of space? Time will tell. Again, these are operating system issues and not really the phone itself. Battery isn’t too bad but I do need to recharge a couple of times a day. I get panicky when the percentage falls below 60 percent. You just never know when there will be a power outage or some major catastrophe, heh. I would really recommend this phone. Oh and the relatively affordable price doesn't hurt either.

    Stealth phone

This is a solid choice of a phone for those going with prepaid carriers like Virgin Mobile. Construction reminds me of the older Galaxy S models--cheap plastic backing, easily-scratched "chrome" trim--but at this price point, I'm OK with all that. Look up the features of Android 6.0 if you're not currently using it--one of the best, if not *the* best aspect of it is the improved battery management, which dovetails with this phone's sizable battery to provide some serious endurance. I'm very happy with this phone's longevity compared to my old Galaxy S3 running Android 4.4. I'm disappointed with the exclusion of a notification light. This is a common gripe, and the fact that this isn't even the first iteration of the Galaxy J7 makes the little blinky LED's continued omission puzzling. I'd give up the front-facing camera for one, quite frankly--I like basic phones, and consider a notification light to be a more critical feature. Finding a case for this phone, which differs in configuration and size from its predecessors (which were also confusingly called the Galaxy J7) is proving quite a challenge as well. All told, if you can deal with these pitfalls and are looking for a reasonably-priced phone with a great OS, this may be it.

We did some homework prior to spending money for this phone. In the past, when purchasing cell phones, we assumed that the specs would be sufficient and hoped for the best. That wasn't always the case and after getting burnt a few times, we elected to educate ourselves as to what wanted/needed. This phone has everything we wanted and more. 16 GB RAM, Large screen, easily accessible SD Card slot, 13 MP camera, and the Marsh-mellow OS. And best of all - Virgin Mobile pre-paid. Love it!

This is a really great phone the camera looks awesome and the screen is huge. the gps works great and will track every step while playing pokemon go however, the name SAMSUNG GALAXY J7 (2016) is misleading I was expecting the SM-J710 model not the J700 model...the J710 model is the real SAMSUNG J7 (2016) version of the phone also known as SAMSUNG J7-6 but it is not available in the united states.this phone is just a better version of the 2015 with a new OS and maybe .5 more gb of memory so I am a little upset about that one. be careful buying phone cases online...don't look up j7 2016 because it will be different from what you have. if you are wondering what I am talking about just look it up on the internet and you will find it but this is still a really good phone just not the model I was hopeing for.
