    Average sound, incompatible optical with Fios

    I have an earlier model Vizio sound bar (bigger and with sub) which I like (other than sub drop outs over BT) so got this one. The sound is average, not much better than the new TV, at least for dialog. I'd be OK with this maybe, but the optical input doesn't work with a Verizon Fios stb, even when the box is set to output L-PCM. As with my other Vizio unit, it's slow to change inputs. Again not a great big deal, just annoying. It's going back.

    Why Pay More ?

    This is simple to hook up and gives great sound. It is an amazing buy and the remote reminds me of my Apple remote ( very compact and simple to operate ). Makes me wonder why you would pay more for a basic solid sound system.

    Have a Vizio TV. Plugged right in; only live in a Condo and it is way good for a place like mine. For under $100 it boosts your basic tv. If you budget its a great deal for a little helper on the movie scene.

    sound kept cutting off

    After reading so many good reviews about this sound bar I decided to get it and I am disappointed in it. For one thing I bought this one mainly so I can use my TV remote to control the bar to reduce extra remotes but there isn't a way that I have found to program mine (panasonic TV) I even asked the girl this before purchasing. Also I have noticed that every so often the sound would shut off and it seemed to take forever for me to figure out how to get it back on. The 2 middle LED lights would just keep blinking. The manual didn't address what that meant. Another reviewer had mentioned that the bar has a sensor to turn off sound when TV is idle w/o sound for a few minutes and they fixed it through their TV remote because they had a vizio TV. Needless to say I am returning it, I shouldn't have to play with it every time a movie or TV show ends.

    Bought one. Good price. Sounds great. Then cut out every few minutes. Took back for a swap. Hooked up the new one and wouldn't you know, same thing. Good for regular tv. No bueno when watching action movies with the volume up.

    I'd done my homework ahead of time when it came to selecting a soundbar for a bedroom with a wall shared with the neighbor. No subwoofer required as this wasn't my main family room set-up and once I set up the unit and plugged it in, I noticed the sound was *plenty* loud...when it is that it actually worked (which was roughly 5% of the time). Cutting in and out as I changed Netflix titles let alone went to different inputs, I found that most of the time I had no sound at all (even when I paired it to my Vizio TV). Repeatedly, I had to unplug and start again both the television as well the bar to get suddenly shockingly loud volume that would turn off as quickly and unpredictability as it turned on. One of the biggest complaints besides the unpredictable, faulty performance that would go from silence to ear-ringingly loud was the layout of small vertical dots. Four blink for connection by optical or one blinks if searching for an available connection, for example, and it's almost impossible to ascertain which setting you're in when you're counting dots right in front of the unit let alone more than six to eight feet away. A major disappointment, I wound up returning it less than 48 hours after first opening the box. Avoid the bar, even if you make the investment I did in a thicker, longer quality optical cord (a mere $7 Amazon purchase) as opposed to Vizio's hopelessly thread-thin model that came included with the unit. While I can't recommend Vizio TVs enough and love their quality, unfortunately, this was an awful introduction to their budget soundbar line.

    When it works, it really pretty nice. Problem is sometimes it just doesn't work at all. Since the remote has no readable input screen, I have to just guess which input it is on. I try hitting the input button, waiting 5 seconds, no sound, hit the button again then wait again. Nothing. I do this over and over and nothing comes out of the speaker. It worked for a few days and then just stopped again. Tried with both the optical and the RCA cords.

This product comes equipped with a feature that will hopefully assist you in this case. Simply press and hold the input button down, and it will automatically search for the correct input.     As others have said, there are not enough volume adjustments on the soundbar. It’s either not enough volume or too much. Since our FL place is our part-time residence, did not notice this in time to return it. I would suggest you choose another soundbar. I wish we had.

      Hello Bruce, there are separate Bass and Treble levels that can be adjusted on this sound bar that may assist in allowing you to hear audio more clearly without having to turn up the sound bar volume. you may also want to adjust the EQ mode or turn off the TruSurround and TruVolume features to see if it allows for a better listening experience for you.     Sound was great but soundbar died after 4 months. Tried to troubleshoot online but unable to fix. Quite disappointing. Wish I had purchased the protection plan or another brand altogether.

    I have a cheap Chinese Bluetooth speaker from a no name company that sounds so much better than this. And it cost 1/3. I also have an Vizio 2.1 that I was impressed with, but this one is just junk. This was purchased to go in my bedroom for music and movies. The bass is terrible and has a horrible reverb. After trying to find a happy medium between bass and treble settings, I gave up. Even if you can find something acceptable, a change in sound in a movie or a different type of music will force you to reset and do it again. It is barely better than the speakers on my Insignia/Samsung Plasma that it's paired with. And that's subjective.

    Work with Samsung?

    Recently purchased this sound bar and while I can not attest to its quality I found that it was incompatible with Samsung Series 6 TVs. Possibly it was just my specific TV but am posting this just to give a heads up in case it is an universal issue. Returned it to store.

      This Sound Bar is compatible with any TV that has one of the following Audio Out ports. SPDIF (Digital Optical), RCA (Red & White), Headphone Jack (3.5mm), or a Digital Coaxial Cord.
