Great Sound And Features for The Price

I've owned this sound bar for just a couple of days and I've already fell in love with it. I bought it to replace my two Bose - yes, Bose - speakers in a particular setting. I cannot use the speakers with my desktop PC via BT or WiFi because there is always an unbearable 2-3 seconds lag. I tried to connect them via the wire (Aux) but they cannot be paired as stereo duo via Aux and for me "Stereo" is a must!. But back to what this review is about. This Vizio sound bar has a half a second or so lag too when connected via BT to my PC and that's acceptable for me. What I love about it is that I can also connect via Aux (wire) and listen in stereo without any lag - the main reason I prefer it over Bose (in this particular setting). It now sits on my desk in front of my monitor and everything feels right: the distance, the sound, the controls. Here it what else I like about this soundbar: • Perfect in a desktop setting - size, listening distance, within reach controls (besides the remote). • Unexpected powerful sound without any distortions even at max level • Immediate paring via Bluetooth and acceptable lag • Best "bang for the buck"...

      Trouble with set-up

This soundbar has beautiful sound. It's clear at mid and upper ranges as well as providing a big deep bass you can crank up if you want to. Greatly improved the sound of my new Samsung 42" and the price was great. BUT, there proved to be no way on the planet to sync the sound bar with the TV or cable box so I didn't have to use two remotes all the time. As someone who's constantly readjusting the volume (down for crashy parts, up for dialogue), two remotes are much too cumbersome for me. No 4-digit code from the new TV,, no Mediacom expert, no Best Buy expert or tech elf could solve the problem and eventually a more experienced Best Buy sales guy told me it couldn't be done. Returned the bar with disappointment and bought a Best Buy DVD/5.1 surround home theater system. Better sound than the Samsung TV, of course, but not such great sound as the bar. So I recommend this bar to anyone who has a home theater system or universal remote that can accept it - and be sure you talk to a senior tech person about exactly how to do this. .

I was weary of the "you get what you pay for" when approaching the buying of a sound bar, but we just don't have the budget to tap into a larger, more luxurious sound system right now. All that went away when I brought this home and plugged it in. For the price-point, this sound bar really impressed me. It is very sleek looking and I like the minimalist design of the light that signifies the current volume (as well as other audio controls). All we needed was to finally rid ourselves of the dreaded, unbalanced stock TV speakers effect of not being able to hear any dialogue/voices without having to blast the speakers and hear the crashes and booms of background noise. Now we have a more balanced sound where we don't have to blast the speakers. It isn't perfect, depending on the input, sometimes we need to still turn the volume down when the music/SFX gets too loud (since we live in an apartment) but it serves its function well. I think the best balanced system would be to have true surround sound with speakers behind you as well but this does the general trick for now. The bass is plentiful, in fact, we had to turn ours down because it was too punchy! For those on a budget, you won't be disappointed by this product.

I purchased this alongside a Vizio TV since I bought the TV open box and had enough leftover to grab a sound bar. I couldn't believe how good the bass was when I first used it. The associate that showed it to me in-store cautioned that it didn't come with a subwoofer, but I wasn't looking for anything crazy bassy, so this was perfect for me. I haven't messed with the settings since the out of the box sound was alright with me, so I can't say much about the equalizer settings. The only problems I have with it are 1)There have been a couple of instances when I switched to a different game console or switched to Bluetooth to play music on my phone and it decided to do a loud, constant beep like it has a connection problem. I just turn the speaker off and on again, and that has fixed it. I would I recommend keeping the volume down when making switches like that, just in case. 2)If I keep the volume at the lowest it will go, it seems to dip the volume to being inaudible randomly. If you need to keep it way down for any reason, keep that in mind.

Seems crazy that I am complaining about too many inputs. However, there are too many, if the way to switch between them is to click through one at a time. Also, you know what input you are on by the position of the two missing dots on the left side of the speaker. I use optical and analog RCA. For the first month or so, I had to keep a key on the remote to see which set of dots are needed for my input. Very annoying! It would help if it auto switched when a signal is detected. Oh well. Very good sound, certainly fuller than my TV. It also has a subwoofer out if the onboard bass is not enough for you. I am keeping it because I like the sound for the price but It would have been better with less inputs- The more expensive version with chromecast has less inputs and works great.

Good quality sound. Don't expect thundering bass. Get the wireless subwoofer option if you need that. Plugged it in with optical cable. It worked. Dramatically improved the pathetic TV sound (turn that down to prevent echoing). Don't expect much range of adjustment on bass or treble. Select the True sound and Simulated Surround Sound. You're done. The remote is quite reponsive. That being said, this is not for the "primary TV" which we use for most theater type viewing. For that we have a decent surround unit with woofer etc. This Vizio delivers good sound for us while we watch the news or PBS Kids. And I would not use this to bluetooth music. Overall, a great unit. But don't expect it to sound like $400. And if you think great sound is rumbling big bass, get the sub woofer.

I really wanted to like this soundbar, as I like to root for an underdog, but I can't endorse it. First, I only hooked it up to the TV via optical cable. I watched a Blu-ray and it worked perfectly. Then I tried to watch a DVD -- didn't work. Hooked up my Blu-ray player to the soundbar directly and it worked without a hitch. Then I hooked up my AppleTV, and it worked when I watch Youtube or Crackle, but NOT when I watch Netflix/HULU/HBONow. This is ridiculous, how can it work with some apps but not others? They're all playing via the AppleTV. I even hooked the optical cord directly from soundbar to AppleTV (which I shouldn't have to do), and that did not work either. It seemingly senses there is no source. Frustrating. I will return this.

Having purchased a 55" TV last summer, it didn't take too long to recognize what every reviewer talked about with respect to the limitations of the built-in spreakers. After (as usual) agonizing over the purchase of a sound bar for some time, I eventually remembered that I'm not an audio or video-phile, had pretty basic needs and just plain didn't want to spend a ton of $$. This VIZIO sound bar has been PERFECT. It was plug&play from a set up perspective, works automatically with the VIZIO TV remote and increased our sound & enjoyment level many-fold!!
