40" TV
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I just got this TV this last week. I am happy with it. It is in my bedroom and the right size for the room. Good color and hue with good focus. Easy to set up with great picture. I am a Samsung user but got this a little cheaper and I am just as happy with this as I am with Samsung. I just sold my Samsung and I will buy this brand again.

Love the control over picture, etc
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this TV from another seller and I received the soundbar booster with it. I'd bought another brand prior to trying the Vizio, and was terribly disappointed that in order to control the color, picture, etc., I was only given a bar! I returned that one and bought the Vizio 40" D and wowie-zowie! this TV is GREAT! So many options to adjust just about everything - from what I call an "equalizer," to the color, the contrast, etc. I don't use the internet on this TV, so I can't speak to that, but the picture is amazing. Another thing, although the room I watch it in is 19'x20', this is the perfect size - I can look at the whole screen and not just parts (darting my eyes from one place to another - I learned that with the one I'd purchased previously which was a 43" - could be just me, though). The only extra thing I purchased was a more brawny HDMI cable. I've had this TV for at least 2 years - since I'm disabled, I watch a lot of TV, and I never cease to be amazed at the clarity of the HD channel picture. If you don't have to have the biggest, I assure you this is a GREAT buy (and people call me picky - haha)! Sorry for those who've had problems, but I love this material object! Also, CS was VERY nice to me, very helpful!

Good picture, lousy sound
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The sound on this tv is terrible. So, I’m dabbling with the idea of buying a soundbar. But the problem is finding one that fits between the feet of this tv and trims out neatly. The Vizio soundbar is too long. Also, it would be nice if the soundbar on/off power was USB controlled by the tv. Keep it simple, sit down turn the tv on and the powerbar comes on as well, one remote. Visio should incorporate this feature in their soundbar as well as make it fit between the feet. The picture on this tv is great, I really like it.

Great TV for a bedroom!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.TV is not too big or too small, for a normal sized bedroom. This Smart TV also has a host of embedded applications, which eliminates cable if you're not a big TV watcher.

Not the longevity I had hoped for
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This D40f-G9 is the third Vizio TV I've owned along with a Vizio Sound Bar. Right in the middle of a program my seven month old TV displayed a black screen and lost the audio. I could still use the apps on my Blu-Ray player to watch TV but I wanted my TV to work as it was intended to. After researching the net I came to the conclusion that my main board went out so I ordered a replacement which arrived yesterday. I put it in and, Voila!, I was back in business...….for about six hours. Sure enough, the same black screen and lack of audio. I tried doing a factory reset which disclosed that my TV was no longer receiving a Wi-Fi signal though my other Vizio in the living room, my cell and Kindle all work fine and show five bars on the same network. I just got off the phone with Vizio Customer Support and no joy. I should have called them when I first had issues as the TV was still under warranty......didn't know that......and my changing out the board voided the warranty. That said, the Rep had me test and try all sorts of things without success so I'm out of a TV. Had I called before working on it myself they could have sent someone to my home to work on it. Didn't know that, either. My wife's 62" Samsung went out last month and their Customer Support said that the nearest repair facility was in Colorado. As we're in South Carolina that would have been rather impractical so kudos to Vizio! I will get another Vizio to replace this one but I'll get a different model as I'm still a fan of this company.

Great TV!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’ve had for about a month now and it’s simply great. I honestly don’t care about the smart features as my only internet is my phone and it’s never used as a smart model, so I’m not meaning anything in regards to those, I just wanted a solid 40 inch TV. It gets both above average sound and picture. I don’t see a need for 4K with only a 40 inch model and I live in an apartment so the size is ideal. I use an antenna with all my TV’s (always a high quality one) and this does well getting in a good number of channels knowing what my area is capable of. If the size suits your needs then I absolutely recommend this.

Good Picture Decent Sound Terrible Lag
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this TV from a Best Buy Store for my Bed Room As its just me and my dog 40 inches is perfect for an apartment or home bed room sized TV Picture quality is good sound is decent. However the LAG in response from apps and remote function make my grandma in her rocking chair look like she's covering distance. Absolutely horrendous The TV also crashes more then a teen in sports car having their license less than an hour ago. If your not doing soft resets or waiting for the TV to respond to your input its not bad.

TERRIBLE TV - DO NOT PURCHASE
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased not one, but TWO of these tvs...I purchased the first one on 7/31 for my son's bedroom and I loved the picture quality so much that I thought I'd go back 8/2 and upgrade my bd rm tv as well. I was so wrong, as it truly was NOT an upgrade. Within the first week and every day after I've had several issues. Smartcast TV not connecting, remote has extremely slow response, "Network not connected", tv screen freezing, apps (specifically Netflix, YouTube, TubiTV, Disney+ and Hulu) not able to load...or they'll load 10 minutes after you've already selected it. I literally have to do a soft power reset and disconnect the tv so many times ago (including 2 or 3 times to get through a 2 hr movie). Its ridiculous! After reading Vizio's site (and Twitter) and troubleshooting on my own I finally called my internet provider on Friday (8/14) I wasn't having any network issue with anything else in my home but figured I'll give it a shot. They didn't see anything wrong. So, on Saturday (8/17) I finally called Vizio. They did a server reset and went through about 3/4 different processes and stayed on the phone several minutes after to make sure it was functioning...for BOTH tvs. They was!...for that time being. Saturday night, right back to its original state. Smh. The only reason my son is able to utilize the apps is because he's using his Xbox to do so, but whats the point if you can't utilize them on the tv? Both if these tvs have drained me more than the news these days. I'd have a little more understanding if it was just one, but not BOTH!

Not what I thought it would be..
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this TV simply because I “ thought “ it had access to the internet ( like the old Web TV back in the day ). The good part is that if you are a person that likes and uses apps like Netflix and many others, you will be in heaven because this TV does have tons of apps. The bad part is ( for me personally ) is that I don’t really need all these apps, and do not want to pay for a monthly fee either. The picture quality is great at 1080p, and the sound is pretty loud. I had the volume at 50 and it was too loud.. other than not having a web browser and too many apps I will never use, its a great HDTV for the great price.
