I had such high expectations of this TV. Turns out it is a pile of junk. Never again will I buy a Vizio. The tablet remote is slow and disconnects constantly. The TV itself has awful picture even after hours of fiddling and reading Reddit regarding the best setup for it. The HDR is sub par and does not work with Xbox one S. Regardless of what the internet says. It causes glitches with the color among other things. I ended up with an LG that was so much better. Don't buy this TV!!

    Great picture, "dumb" TV

    Posted .

As a TV, the image quality is great. Black is very black and white can get very bright once you calibrate the picture (check rtings for settings). You will want to get some better speakers if you want decent sound, but most TVs are like that. The downside? The remotes. This TV comes with 2 remotes, both of which aren't very good. The basic remote is good for changing channels (without a TV tuner?) and volume, but that's about it. The Android tablet that is the "smart" remote is a nice tablet, but you need to use it to change any setting. While it's nice to have the option to change the settings in an app, being forced to makes making quick changes a chore. Thankfully, once you have it calibrated, you can pretty much store it in a closet and forget about it and use your cable box or Xbox to control the TV. Just be careful to not press the wrong button on the basic remote which changes the display settings and you'll need to open the app again to put them back in. The built-in chromecast is a nice feature, but when every other TV can play 4K netflix and such out of the box, it does feel rather out of place sometimes. That, and castings isn't foolproof and more than once did I have to close an app and reopen it to get it working again. Long story short, get this TV if you plan on running all your streaming through another device, get a nice soundbar, and you should be good to go. Since that was me, 5 Stars.

hanks for the feedback. A few things that might help you get the kind of picture quality you saw in the store. First, make sure the Display is getting a hi-definition signal. This means making sure that you're source device (like a cable/satellite box) is capable of HD, and that it's connected to your Display with an HDMI cable that can deliver the HD picture. You can also change between pre-set picture modes on the display by pressing the PIC button on your remote. This will toggle between a few picture setting that look good in different situations. If your display is in a bright room try Vivid or Calibrated. If it’s in a dimmer room try Calibrated Dark. VIZIO

VIZIO tablet remote won't power on

The VIZIO tablet remote won't power on. I tried charging it with the stand it comes with. Then I tried charging directly through the charging port. And then I tried a different charger to see if the charger had an issue that came with it. None of these work. I can't set up the TV without the remote functioning. Seriously VIZIO? I can't transport this tv back to Best Buy as I borrowed a friends car to get it home. Hopefully Best Buy will come replace it and set up the new one for me because this is total BS.

Buggy HDMI Ports and Inconsistent Upscaling

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I've been on the hunt for a perfect TV or near perfect tv for the last 2 months. After returning 3 tvs for various reasons, I thought I would finally commit to something. This TV hit all of my check boxes - 65 inches, both versions of HDR, and lots of HDMI Ports. I figured if a TV supports Dolby Vision then it should be a 10-bit panel and have amazing colors by default. I was a little skeptical about the tablet and chromecasting at first, but honestly that was about the only thing that I ended up loving about this TV. I was amazed at how well the Chromecast worked. I had a $30 Chromecast and Apple Airplay and neither works very well in my house even though I have a 100MB broadband connection. The Vizio implementation of Chromecast does a beautiful job. It is slightly annoying that after an hr the tablet seems to disconnect from the TV so I can no longer use it to pause/rw the picture. But in terms of pure streaming quality it was flawless. The black levels on this TV are STUNNING. It is almost OLED quality. Not a single bit of light bleed at all. The problem with the TV is, it does a really bad job of Upscaling content. I mean, really AWFUL. I watched an SD version of the OC through Hulu and it was a mess. I almost wished I could have turned off the up scaling and just watch the show in it's native resolution. Since I deal with Cable 95% of the time, I found the TV to just be horribly inconsistent in terms of how it upscales and picture quality. I know this is a function of Xfinity's terrible signal, but some times the picture would be flawless, other times not. What can't be blamed on Xfinity is how flat and bland the colors looked half the time. In Calibrated modes and other modes, again sometimes it'd look great other times there would be a weird contrast sheen on top of the picture, instead of subtly behind the picture. I probably could have lived with this on the assumption that at some point next yr there would be a lot more 4K content to watch (and as I've said before, there actually is a LOT available now - just get Netflix and pay the $11 a month, well worth it if you have a 4K TV), but the HDMI ports are a little weird. On my Xbox One S it didn't read the brand new HDR update on Port 5, but when I switched it to Port 1 it did recognize the new HDR patch. Then playing streamed content through my XB1 S and my Apple TV the channel would randomly black out for 5 or 10 seconds, come back and then play out of sync for another few seconds before settling back down. At first I thought it had something do with my stream, but again I'm on a really high broadband connection and usually it'll buffer not go black and display a non-connect error message before coming back on. And this consistently happens. Vizio is the brand I normally go with and have been happy with my 2 Vizios that I've had for the last 4 yrs, so I ad faith that this M Series would be perfect for my needs and it was only $1,200 as well. Pretty much a no brainer. I wish I had splurged and just got the 65 P. So I ended up returning the TV and getting a new OLED TV delivered next week. Hopefully that TV will finally work. But I had to sacrifice the 65 inches for the 55 again. :(

Picture quality is highly dependent on multiple factors. These factors include personal preference, source/content, and the environment/room the display is in. Ambient lighting in a room can change picture quality dramatically as outside light can affect how bright the picture looks and make the contrast look low. Lower resolution pictures can look grainy or not as bright. VIZIO SmartCast devices work hand in hand with the SmartCast App allowing customer to customize picture settings on every input giving our customers the best quality picture according to their environment and based on the room the display is located in all from a device used every day. VIZIO M65-D0 (2016) - Great TV, Great Value

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

The M65-D0 is an awesome TV for a very reasonable price. The people at Rtings.com just reviewed this on 7/15/2016 just below the Vizio P series. It was also number 10 on their list of best TVs in the 65" range, though keep in mind most of the TVs in the top 10 are $2k + This was my first Vizio TV purchase and was skeptical at first, as Vizio isn't always viewed as having the best quality. I am very pleased with the purchase and I am glad that I went with this 'Home Theater Display." Pros: - Inputs. 5 HDMI (though only 1 of them is HDMI 2.0 compatible) and 2 USB. Should be plenty of inputs for the average user's devices. - Tablet. Comes with an Android tablet to control the TV as well as to use for casting. Not difficult to use or pair to the TV, but does require some extra time if not familiar with Android or how to use Apps. If you are an iPhone user, like myself, I just downloaded the Smartcast app on my phone and was good to go. Wireless charging is awesome. Tablet charges fast, seems to have good battery life. - Picture. Awesome picture. Ultra HD content looks amazing. Upscaling is decent. On the cable box, some channels are better than others. - Casting. Very easy to use as the input will automatically switch over once you cast. - Display. Stand is very modern. Bezel is not thick. TV is a little thicker than some others out there, but it feels very sturdy and is not very heavy. Cons: - Sound = Terrible. It does get loud, but it just doesn't sound very good even after messing with the settings. I ended up buying a Vizio soundbar to go with it and that made such a difference. If you aren't picky about how it sounds, you can probably live with it. Overall, this is a great purchase for anyone who wants a nice, 4k UHD TV, but doesn't want to spend $2k+ on a device. Having the tablet included was a nice touch, but I would not buy this TV just because of the tablet. I use the tablet for casting, but when it comes to normal volume control, I either use the Cable remote or the other remote included. Quality of the TV appears to be pretty rock solid. No dead pixels on arrival, nothing broken or missing. Not too big, but not too thin. If you have not tried a Vizio before and are unsure if you want to now, give it a try.

I've had this TV for a couple days and just WOW! We were watching Narcos on Netflix last night and it was in 4k resolution. It almost looks lifelike, it's so weird. Although this TV was a bit over my budget, I'd say it is well worth it so far. It can take a little getting used to with the tablet remote, but I generally use Roku, PS4, XB1 for streaming purposes so it's not a huge deal. One major issue was that the first TV I picked up from Best Buy was broken when I set it up and turned it on. I returned it for a new unit which was a bit of a hassle, but the new one has been great. Highly recommend this TV for those who can't justify the $1,700+ for the next step up.

i just bought this Home theater display i had narrowed down my choice between this Vizio and a similar Sony Display in the end i sided with this Vizio display. i had many reasons to choose this one over the Sony. 1. Value- The price was a lot more reasonable and affordable for what it included 2. Tech- The built in google cast and included 6" android tablet with a wireless charging stand to control the TV and stream moves music and youtube was far more advanced than Sony's typical basic remote control. You can also download the app on your iPhone or android and control it from there if you don't feel like using the included tablet. 3. More Inputs - Vizio has 5 HDMI Inputs sony only has 4 Both are HDR ready and are Ultra HD Vizio does have the Dobly Vision built in and very good upscaling and blacks and have the least blur for fast moving picture I've noticed and compared online. 4. Picture - Is amazing in 4K and Hd 1080p as well the display does an amazing job to upscale 1080p to a clearer picture. 5. Bezel and Stand - The black bezel around the tv is only half a inch thick. The legs are cast aluminum calibrated legs that look beautiful on any table top. They give you a clean modern look that i love. The thickness of the display is only 2 inches deep. I did a lot of research on this Tv before purchasing it and after purchasing it there is not a lot of info out there on it as it is a new display but this display was CNETs top pick last year for best TV displays. This model is just a big improvement on last years. I will say the android remote control takes a day or two to get used to but once you get used to it its awesome definitely the future of how every display will be controlled as everyone moves to streaming and cutting the cable and satellite cord. In all i am very pleased with my purchase and decision, for the price i got it and everything that was included it was a very good value.

I read a lot of reviews and comments regarding 65" 4k UHD HDR TV's (CNet, Best Buy, Amazon, RTings, etc.) and decided to go with the Vizio. It has an excellent picture via Comcast cable and the Smart Cast Apps (You Tube, NetFlix, and Vudu). The upconversion of 1080p content provides a really good quality picture and the 4K is excellent. The $1,299.00 price on the M-Series 65" is hundreds of dollars below the competition and to top it off this model supports both Dolby Vision and HDR10 formats. The sound is lacking a bit, but we have a surround sound system set up, so it did not factor into my rating. My wife and kids think the TV is great and they all like the tablet that was provided for the remote control.
