Everyone has a smartphone on them at all times now so why not control your TV with one. That's what this TV does. It is so easy to search for something on a phone or tablet then stream to the TV. The ability to change settings and power up your TV with a smartphone is awesome. That's the main feature I like about it. The picture on this TV is awesome. Love watching 4k YouTube videos. Can't beat the price for this beast of a TV.

Only giving this TV 4 stars as the first one I bought from BestBuy stopped working after a week. I called Vizio and they said they'd be happy to replace it but it would take about 2 weeks, fortunately I was within the BestBuy return window and a local store had the same model in stock, so I was able to exchange it. Thumbs up for BestBuy and their easy exchanges. I was expecting to really dislike the Android remote, but the setup and configuration were really straight forward. If there's any calibration or updates it's handy to have, but otherwise I just use the regular remote. Fundamentally I don't know why I need a Google account to set up a tv, but there doesn't seem to be a way around it. The picture is great - both movies and games look wonderful, I have the set calibrated per rtings.com's settings. I just wish the first TV would have worked properly.

    Awesome monitor for the price!

It seems that there are some defective units out there from what I found searching reviews. BUT... it is NOT all of them by any means. I've had mine for two weeks now and it has been nearly perfect. Nothing is perfect so an honest star rating would be 4.5 only because of some minor glitches. Nothing serious, just odd stuff interacting with my HTPC and NextPVR setup. The Vizio CEC/ARC implementation isn't what I think is "standard" so it still does CEC even when you set it to ARC Only. On some inputs, not all. Picture is amazing once you change Picture settings to Calibrated and set Judder and Motion Blur to 5 and turn off Clear Action. Also make sure Active LED is ON in the Picture settings. I didn't care for the Auto Brightness settings, all of them seemed too dark. It is true that the Samsung equivalent is somewhat better in bright rooms. If you are buying a TV for a glass building lobby, this one will be a bit washed out. Not bad, just noticeable. I have no issues in a pretty bright living room but it is a minor difference. Stay away from LG. Their software is better than any I've used. They got that right. But, unless you buy the OLED models, the screens are lower quality and the picture just isn't there. And, note that I have been a big fan of LG for a long time but they bet the company on OLED. You can spend a LOT more money and not get a better TV/Monitor than the Vizio. You will NOT regret it!! Note... if you don't want Vizio watching what you are watching, you need to go into Rest/Admin menu and turn off Smart Interactivity setting.

    3 Vizio 4K TV's, 3 with picture issues. Returned

Bought the M65-D0. Previously bought the D series in 50". Experienced inconsistent backlighting. When watching a source that included an un-busy, light colored background like a clear sky, a wall, or (especially) an expanse of ice during a hockey game, several vertical areas of the screen were slightly less it than others, giving the picture a curtain like effect. Not noticeable except during any panning shots, which happen sometimes, but are virtually continuous in hockey games. Tried every calibration & trick on forums by experts. Eventually contacted Vizio, who sent out a replacement. While waiting for my replacement 50" D series to arrive, I took a chance on the M series in 65", thinking that there"s no way the third tier of Vizio quality could (or should) exhibit the same issue. Boy was I wrong. Not only did my replacement 50" D series have the same issue, but my M65 exhibited the same clouding or curtain effect. My 8 year old, base(ish) model 52" Sony Bravia NEVER had any sign of an issue like this, yet I experienced it with three Vizio 4K tv's in a row. the rest of the tv's functions & picture were great, but the issue became such a distraction that I couldn't enjoy a movie or show without seeing stationary, horizontal areas less lit than others any time a light background was in a panning shot. As if I had a dirty screen. Long story short, I kept the 50", as it sees more regular use for general tv watching, but returned the M65, as it was for my movie room, and was clearly not up to snuff. No more Vizio for me. I do not recommend.

VIZIO HDTV's have active LED zones. This means that based on the content and signal being received from the broadcaster and/or source device sections of the screen will automatically dim to help improve the contrast of the display. VIZIO Display's have a setting that can be adjusted making the active LED zones stay on when the TV is used. This will lower the contrast but help provide a more even lighting across the screen. TV has gone kaput 371 days in

TV worked great for 371 days, great picture and options. Unfortunately the TV will no longer power on and the manufacturer's warranty expired after 365 days. Vizio customer service was very polite but in the end very unhelpful. Everyone I spoke to was confident that because the TV went kaput within a week of warranty expiration they would likely stand behind their product and send someone out to repair it. It was not to be, final decision was rendered today and Vizio ruled that I would have to pay for someone to come out and repair it. They did provide me with the phone number to contact the repair company. Very disappointed with my relatively new, non functioning $1500 TV.

    Can't Go Back to a Non-Smart TV

We have been due for a new television and I was excited to jump into the smart tv market with the VIZIO SMARTCAST™ M-SERIES ULTRA HD Television. What makes the VIZIO SMARTCAST™ M-SERIES ULTRA HD Television stand out? Includes a 6" tablet remote - you actually get two remotes, a small regular one and tablet one. The tablet one connects via Bluetooth and allows you to Google Cast your favorite apps right to the tv screen. You download your favorite apps such as Netflix, Hulu, HBO Now, and Youtube and then push a button on the tablet to cast it onto the tv screen - super easy! You can actually cast just about anything online from pictures you have stored (perfect for viewing with family) to games your playing! The tablet remote can really do so much! You can even cast from your phone or computer right to the tv screen as long as you are on the same wi-fi network as your tv. Just like on the remote, you tap the Cast icon (its the first one on the top right). Here is what pops up on my desktop when I click the Cast button on my Chrome browser. Once I click this, whatever is on my laptop screen shows up on my tv screen. You can also watch shows right on the tablet which is perfect for when you want to watch something on television and your kids want to watch a show on a tablet! There is even a headphone jack! The tablet remote features a Wireless Charging Dock which makes it so much easier to charge and keep track of. My kids are terrible at charging their tablets but they have yet to not put this remote on the dock thanks to how easy it is. I won't get into tech specs, you can read those on the Vizio website, but the picture is super crisp thanks to LED backlighting. Picture has no editing, up close it is even crisper! Super easy to set-up! My 9 year old did the set-up on his own basically! You don't need a tech guy to connect to your network or connect all your app accounts. The tablet remote prompts the set-up and is very user friendly. Steel Calibrated Legs - I honestly wasn't sure about the legs when I first saw the tv advertised but they have grown on me. I really feel like the tv is very sleek and modern looking. Oh and I was worried the tv wouldn't be sturdy with the legs but they are perfectly sturdy. Lots of ports for connections including HDMI, Ethernet and Audio Outputs - Honestly though other than our cable box we don't have anything connected to this television thanks to the SmartCast feature of being able to cast all of our movie networks we watch! The ports though are great for connecting video game consoles and Blu-ray players, including 4k UHD BluRay players. The HDMI ports are ready to support next-gen UHD devices - cable/satellite boxes, Blu-Ray players and game consoles. HDMI cable included! Just so your totally ready to watch this awesome television, a 6 foot HDMI cable is included! A very intuitive remote. You can change settings, connect devices and more right from the touch screen remote. I received this television at a discount in exchange for sharing my honest opinion.

Technical issues ruined a nice TV

I have been a supporter and fan of Vizio products for years. My last Vizio TV was fantastic, and is still going strong several years later. Unfortunately my experience with the M65-D0 hasn't been as positive. I picked this TV up for the sole purpose of playing my Xbox One S, and PS4 on it. I purchased the TV in November and immediately found out that there was an issue with the TV and Xbox HDR. I was experiencing blackouts, audio lose whenever I had color subsampling enabled on HDMI 1. After scouring the internet I discovered that Vizio was aware of this issue and working to resolve it with a firmware update. The CTO posted on AVS forums that an update was coming, and it would improve the HDR issue, but not fix it completely, and that MS would have to fix it on their end too. So the end of December comes and the firmware finally comes out, and it in fact made the HDR issue worse. So the HDR function has been unusable as of the end of December. Also after the firmware update I started getting a screen flicker that happened when there were dark colors on the screen. I'm part of the Xbox preview program so I got a beta version of the upcoming One S update, which FINALLY resolved the HDR issues totally, but I'm still left with a TV that flickers. So I called Vizio support and they tried to troubleshot it and ultimately said they'd replace it. I contacted Geek Squad since I paid for the coverage, and they came out I showed them the flicker. They ultimately decided to honor VIzio's willingness to replace the TV. So last Friday I lugged this 65" TV back to Best Buy and did an even swap. Got home with the new TV, set it up and low and behold same frigging screen flicker. It's not an input thing because it does it on my Xbox One S, it does it on the PS4, and it even does it casting from the tablet. On Sunday I was playing the PS4 and the TV randomly rebooted. When it came back on the frame rate was so choppy it was unplayable. The screen had tons of artifacting going on and was just a mess. I switched over to my Xbox One S and it was totally fine, switched back to PS4 and it was fine. I'm beyond frustrated with this TV. I've yet to enjoy the TV without some sort of issue. So I'll be returning the second TV I received last Friday and going with a different brand. It's a real bummer because until this I've always been a very vocal supporter of Vizio, and while their tech support is extremely nice, and was willing to replace the initial TV, I just want a TV that works like it's supposed to work.

I was hesitant on the purchase initially due to some negative reviews, but I decided to give the M65 a shot. As of right now we're loving it! Mounting and set up was a breeze. The size and picture quality is a huge upgrade. Even though I haven't streamed any 4k content besides sample videos from YouTube we can already see the difference. Another plus is that this TV is less expensive than the 48" led we purchased in 2009! I still need to calibrate some of the picture settings as "live human" programming looks a little washed out at times and sometimes gives off the "soap opera" effect. I know many people have complained about the remote, but I love it. It makes streaming and configuration a whole lot easier. If I had the money I would have gotten the P series. Good job Vizio! You guys have come a long way!

I saw this Tv online and compared to the other tv's thought it was a great price1299,so after reading many reviews as i usually do i decided to buy the tv and have it delivered and to say the least i will NEVER EVER buy anything online from best buy whole other story and lets just say they are horrible to deal with,so after finally getting my tv on a friday i set it up and i must say vizio makes it easy for a novice to set up.The volume on the tv is not that great and i read that in many reviews however planned on getting a sound bar,so after two days with the tv and playing with the settings which it needed i was not thrilled with the picture especially watching football but its my first big tv purchase in 10 years.Afetr two days i turned on the tv and noticed a thin green line on the left side of the tv i think thats was a sign as i was not thrilled so i googled it and its a defect in the tv,so i returned it and wound up buying a samsung and spending the extra money 1499,and right out of the box what a difference i was amazed and glad i went to the samsung and spent the extra money,i will say vizio is pretty user friendly

    Horrible product, please don't buy...

I have bought many Vizio's over the years and have been happy with them, until this one. I bought it in Jan of 2017 and in the first week black lines would shoot across the screen from left to right. I called tech support and they couldn't figure it out, so in two weeks I returned it to Best Buy and did an even exchange. So, we got the same model home and hooked it up, within a week it had a loud humming sound coming from the back bottom of the tv. They sent a repairman out to fix it, send a new main board with him. He put it in and that did not fix it. He thought it was something called a t com or t con board, so he ordered that and came back the next week. It did not fix the buzzing but the picture worked. About a month after that the picture would start to randomly freeze. It happened once or twice a day, sometimes on Xbox, sometimes on Playstation and even on my Fios set top box for tv. So I called them back again and they sent another main board to the house, when the repairman got there and put it in, it would not even power back on. They had sent a bad part. The repairman said he would notify Vizio. I had, had it at this point. I called Vizio and all they wanted to do was sent me a re certified used tv. I found that unacceptable. It was only 4 months into the factory warranty. I did happen to buy the Best Buy warranty and thats what saved us. The Geek Squad tried to fix it and they decided it was trash and had the store refund us and the warranty price. We put it all towards a little more expensive Sony and so far I am much happier. But the Vizio M65-D0 is NOT worth the box it is shipped in. A friend of mine also had the same model and he too had issues and ended up returning it. He got the 70 inch version of the same model and had issues with that and returned it and finally got a Samsung. Another friend of mine got the 70 inch version and still has it, but had to have the main board replaced. Also the smart cast feature is true garbage, you HAVE to have wifi, which we do, but what if you don't? You can't make setting changes on your tv. You can only do it through casting through wifi, the menu is NOT built into your tv, its not a smart tv, the apps are NOT on the tv, you cast to it through a cheap tablet they supply. It would lose connection over and over again, this happened on both tv's we had of the same model. I thought we just had a lemon with the first one, but then the 2nd was just as bad and two of my friends also having issues with their M series. Do yourself a favor and save yourself time, effort and frustration, spend a little more money or wait until you can and get a better tv.

    Unworkable remote ruined entire TV

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I owned this TV for 10 days and returned it. If you don't want to read the whole review, the main point is that the TV simply does not work with the horrible SmartCast system. No matter how nice the picture, if you can't watch your shows, then it's nothing more than a giant piece of garbage sitting on your wall. Full story below: PROS * Amazing picture quality, beautiful screen/colors/black levels * Decent sound for a TV, but easily worked with the VIZIO soundbar I also purchased * CHEAP! CONS * The SmartCast system ruins everything. To help you understand, the Vizio is not a TV, it's only a monitor that plays stuff you send it. You can't hook it up to an antenna, for instance. Instead, you use the table to play everything, and then Cast it to the TV. However, what happens when that Cast system doesn't work? Well, you can't use your TV. My experience was as follows: Use the included Android remote/tablet to turn on TV. TV turns on and says remote not detected. Use remote to turn TV off and back on. TV still says remote not connected. Restart TV and remote. Now TV detects remote. Load HULU. Hulu gives no Cast option as it doesn't detect TV. Restart system again. Load Hulu again. Now HULU casts to TV. After 12 minutes of watching my show, TV stops working as it says can't detect remote. Restart everything again. Load HULU, finish watching show. Next episode about to start, TV says remote not detected and stops working. Restart again. Nothing. Restart again, now it works again but once again Hulu won't cast. Try Netflix. Same thing. Restart again, now Netflix and Hulu work. Watch another 12 minutes of show before it crashes again. You get the point. In short, the TV quickly became a giant paperweight, a totally useless hunk of technology. I was continuously frustrated. And to give you an idea of my tech level, I build my own computers and fully installed an entire smart home system in my home that works seamlessly. So there you have it. A great "monitor" that has amazing picture quality that you can never actually use. My advice, do NOT buy this. DO NOT.

    multiple TVs with display issues

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I bought this TV almost 2 years ago. My first TV had a display issue where sometimes when you turned it on it looked like antenna static and then if you turned it off and back on again it disappeared. It was definitely the TV because I checked it on multiple inputs with multiple devices. It was still under warranty so vizio replaced it. Now less than a year later the new TV has a large discolored/dark spot that takes up about 1/3 of the TV. Vizio will not do anything to help with this TV because replacements are only warranted for 90 days after delivery. Which by the way is not in their warranty documents; the customer service rep said only they can see that information. When you spend this much money on a device it should work for longer than a year and their customer service should actually perform a service. Don't waste your money and don't buy from vizio.

    Horrible Vizio customer service!

The TV itself is wonderful. I also like the idea of offsetting all the processing power to the tablet and casting the content onto the TV. In this way the TV will be kept update to date using a simpler software updates every now and then. However, my dealing with the Vizio customer service soured my whole experience. My problem was a simple faulty cheap tablet and this was my experience (see below). I cannot imagine how they would threat a customer if the TV itself had an issue! My tablet died after a simple os update. Called the customer service to have it replaced. I was told that I would receive a new tablet in 3-5 days. After a week I called back again to see what happened. I was informed that my case was canceled without me being notified at all! They would just ignore my request if I didn't follow up. After being tossed around a couple of times and conveyed the fact that that's the way it is, deal with it!, a new case number was generated. I am told that they will send me a box to return the tablet first (3-5 days), then after receiving it in their warehouse (3-5 days shipping back and 2-3 days processing time at best), they would send me a new tablet (3-5 more days). Way to go Vizio! That's the way to appreciate, treat, and trust your customers!

Better off buying a bigger HD TV

Color has major distortions but the fix is to turn off "normal" color mode. Adjusted many settings following some guides. Still does not look 4k quality at all. The tablet is a cool concept except the fact netflix crashes on startup the first time I actually tried to run it instead of run it from my firetv. Contacted support to trade in for the new Samsung. You shouldn't have to tweak or deal with these kind of issues for the price of this TV. The picture quality is HD at best. Tiny distortions all over the screen which you can fix by downgrading the quality in settings. I would not recommend buying this. You are better off buying a much larger HD TV for your money because that is all you are getting image quality wise.
