Hello Jmurphy, Thank you for the feedback. A few things that might help you get the kind of picture quality you are looking for. First, make sure the Display is getting a hi-definition or 4K signal. This means making sure that your source device (like a cable/satellite box) is capable of HD or 4K, and that it's connected to your Display with an HDMI cable that can deliver the HD or 4K picture. You can also change between pre-set picture modes on the display by pressing the PIC button on your remote. This will toggle between a few picture settings that look good in different situations. If your display is in a bright room, try Vivid or Calibrated. If it’s in a dimmer room, try Calibrated Dark. VIZIO

Out of the box, picture calibration is not good. Picture is not sharp and washed out. And when I change from one station to another, horizontal lines shows about a second before it clears up. Too bad I just missed the 15 days return policy. Otherwise, the black level is good.

I had color issues in the first year, then a black gradient appearing every time we watched and then 24 months later we get the black screen of death. This tv was horrible.

At this price point this is easily the best TV available in 2018. It has lots of features and the 4K Picture quality is really good. It has plenty of inputs. I also really like the 1080P up-scaling. Easy to set up and controls are straight forward. I would recommend it for anyone looking in this budget range. HDR and Dolby work well here. Small issues - Make sure you have quality HDMI cords, these inputs can be finicky. I did have some issues getting the onboard Youtube APP working but after a reset of the TV it works fine. I would say the remote is effective but could be better. If you watch a lot of low quality content, 480 it does a mediocre job on the up-scaling but the HD(1080) stuff up scales really well. I will say it was a little buggy at first but it seems fine after a couple of weeks. My use is onboard apps, DTV and bluray and 4k discs. I have not tested a PC or gaming system on this. Also the onborad apps are not all encompassing, hopefully they add more.

This probably won't be a really long review. Bottom line, this TV offers a pretty good 4K HDR picture for it's price range. Let's talk about setup! Popping the TV out of the box is a 2 person job just because of how large it is. You can probably manage it alone if you're just going to pop the stands on and sit it on an entertainment center but if you want to hang it on the wall, bring a friend as lifting 50+ lbs to hang on a wall mount would not be pleasant alone. That said, there were no surprises here. It was kind of neat that there were 4 screws in the holes for mounting so you don't just have gaping holes in the back of your TV if you don't want to mount it. Plugging in the TV, we begin the actual setup process. A couple of standard (and not so standard, should "store mode" really be part of the consumer facing setup process?) questions and we got to setting up wifi. Entering my rather long WiFi password was tedious. Input on the remote feels delayed and not very smooth when "typing" and the keyboard layout is the ridiculous ABCDE layout instead of QWERTY. Finally getting my password in, the TV checked for updates and applied them. That's where the breezy setup process ended. After updating, it seems like my network was forgotten. Nothing would connect to the internet. I reentered my password. Still nothing. Turned off the TV and turned it back on. Still nothing. It wasn't until I unplugged the TV for a minute and plugged it back in that it actually connected to my network and the built in apps like Netflix started to work. The built in apps are nice to have but I'll be using my AppleTV 4K instead. All of the built in apps just feel sluggish with a lot of loading indicators and slow input from the remote. They're usable but far from a good experience. That said, there are some cool things. The "SmartCast" thing that starts up with a bunch of free streams you can watch is pretty cool. I don't have cable so I'm all for any type of service that helps out cord cutters like myself. I logged in to Netflix and started up an episode of Altered Carbon to check out the Dolby Vision 4K. Using the built in Netflix app seemed to take half a minute or so to finally hit 4K quality but it got there and it looks fantastic! There are 2 picture settings called Calibrated and Calibrated Dark which are pretty much setup for you (the Dark profile for if you're in a darker room). The picture quality on these settings is really good and doesn't require any fiddling at all. I was impressed. Audio quality from the TV is OK. Actually decent for coming from the TV which usually sounds like crap. Volume can be good and the sound filled my room pretty well. Hooked up my AppleTV 4K and had no issues with it just working. It detected the Dolby Vision and adjusted my settings accordingly. Picture quality looks great still. So, bottom line, this TV has a great picture in 4K HDR/Dolby Vision. It sounds pretty decent for a TV (but obviously, get a receiver or sound bar or something). The apps that are included are not very great to use but there are a lot of cool things that are just included so if you don't mind the clunky user experience, they'll probably do you pretty well. I can recommend this TV if it's in your budget and you want a nice picture.

Original TV started having white lines flash across screen. Vizio replaced TV and now the replacement has the same issue along with a dark spot at the top of the TV. I wish I had noticed this issue during my return period. Will not choose a Vizio TV again.

Never buying a vizeo again. We have had nothing but problems with it and now that we are just over our 2 year warranty.... it won’t connect to the internet anymore. While the fire stick works and the other TVs in the house work... this one doesn’t. Never again.
