Had my eye on this tv for a few months, once the price was right, we purchased it. Replaced a 12 year old 55" Pioneer Elite Plasma, with this beast and couldn't be happier. First off, this box is massive, make sure you have a large enough vehicle. Secondly the out of box experience is a little confusing, the directions stop pretty much at the point when you need them the most. Once the stand, cables, and power were all setup the rest was easy. Once we got to watching content a few things were noticeable: - Corners definitely have a slight darkening to them, but really doesn't matter when you are watching content. - You WILL need to adjust video settings to your liking. Out of the box its set to vivid, horrible for content that goes between dark to lighter settings. - The Built in OS is garbage, it's fine to switch inputs and doing the minimum. Any more than that it was laggy, constantly. Get an Apple TV or some other smart box. (make sure you get a compatible UHD HDMI cable with it) Overall, this set has been impressive throughout the entire journey. The colors are rich, the blacks are impressive, the lighting is solid. Even though not a lot of content to stream is 4k yet, there is a noticeable difference. P.S. Playing Mario Kart on this thing is a BLAST!!!!

One of the best 4K TVs under $1k

I have owned several Vizio TVs in the past, so when it was time to upgrade to 4K, they were definitely on my shortlist. The choice came down to the P series vs TCL's 6 series. both were priced about the same but the Vizio won out because of my previous experience. Now that I have had the TV for 4 months, I am still happy with my decision. Blacks are deep and it gets bright when needed. I do not use the built-in smart TV interface, but like most TVs, it's a bit cumbersome and slow. Better off getting a dedicated streaming box/stick (I use a Shield). Source matters as well...don't expect this to make SD sources look amazing, it won't, but feed it quality 1080p and above and it shines.

I purchased the 65 inch Pseries during the week Super Bowl. Got a great deal of only $899. Picture quality is awesome, UHD and HD movies look unreal through streaming using the chromecast interface. I use PSvue through my ps4 to watch tv when needed and picture looks good. I'm having no issues or problems with the tv so far. Tv is wife approved and we actually just purchased another 65 P-series for our bedroom through bestbuy during presidents day sale for $999. I've researched all the 65 tvs and found this tv matches the price point I'm willing to pay and features. If you're in the market to purchase take a look at this tv. It won't dissapoint.

Very good picture except when viewed from an angle. I believe the specs claim a 170* viewing angle. You can indeed see a picture at that extreme but the color is nearly gone. Anything greater than about 120* starts losing true color. Also, speakers are not very good. A sound bar is highly recommended. Even with those weaknesses it is pretty good buy at the $900 sale price.

As I sit here watching amazon prime on my new Vizio p65-f1 I felt compelled to write this review. I'm kind of a Videophile, not to the point that I will have my tv professionally calibrated. More in the way that I have to have it work perfectly and meet all the criteria for a great experience and I'm not afraid to return it and try another if it doesn't. So I've had my tv for a few days now and have pretty much-tested everything. Like others, I've done a lot of research and even bought a different model before this one. So The P65, It does a decent job on 720p material. I watch youtube tv a lot and it's a very adequate picture for sure. Passable by any means. Sit far enough away and it looks very good. Netflix 4k Dolby vision is amazing. Amazon even in 1080p looks way better than my old 46" sony in 1080p. 4k HDR on youtube is mind-blowing. The other brand tv that I recently returned 4k was amazing as well but every other resolution paled in comparison to this Vizio. The sound on this tv is very good. I disabled the surround effect and prefer it this way. It could use some bass punch but it's as good as most other tv's. I'm pretty happy with my calibration settings and there are no soap opera effects on movies or tv shows which is a must for me. The included apps are ok for me. I use youtube tv heavily so I'm very happy it's included. I do have a Nvidia shield which is much faster than this tv's interface but I cannot for the life of me get 4k HDR working so I just use the in tv apps now instead and cast anything else. Overall I'm very happy and would buy again. Had Best buy offered the PQ65 I would have purchased that instead. But after owning this model I'm totally fine with it. Probably a little happy I did not spend the extra $500.

I can't say enough how great this TV is. The picture is fantastic after some tuning. Games look and run great, especially those that are 4k HDR (PS4 Pro). Streaming apps like Hulu and Netflix look great as well. I haven't tried a physical 4k HDR movie yet. I purchased a player, but haven't had the chance to hook it up, but online reviews say they look fantastic on this tv. If you're looking for a great 4k HDR tv that's just as good, or better, at the fraction of the price of Sony, Samsung, LG you will not be disappointed.

Avoid if you watch sports and play video games

At its best, the P series is an amazing TV that offers picture quality that to the average person will seem perfect. If your a video quality snob, you'd still be impressed at the quality to price ratio. However, at its worse - its very frustrating to be distracted by "Dirty Screen Effect" or "Banding". I won't go into specifics about what makes this TV amazing, because there's lots of info out there about it. 4k HDR on this is a beast. But I watch sports and play a lot of games. Most reviews said this TV is great for gaming because of low input lag. However, they dont focus on the banding issue (They tend to save that for sports, but a lot of games offer screens with uniform colors like skys, deserts, water, etc) When this tv has a lot of the same color on screen and the camera pans or moves, you get ugly and distracting banding. Some people are not as sensitive to it as others, and perhaps I am. Just wanted to share that. IF this TV didn't have this issue - aside from OLED, I'd say its a 9.5.

Got this TV due to the good ratings. The TV Build was solid and TV had a nice look to it. However, I was dissatisfied with the picture quality. If looking straight on, It has good color and is bright. Start moving to the side, and it starts washing out quickly, The upscaling is poor, it is grainy and not clear as expected, to the point of looking like grainy noise (you could see it moving) when upscaling from 720p, 1080p was not a lot better. 4K content looked good when viewing straight on. The remote is cheap feeling and the software is lacking. The box and packing was really good.

Hello DaleC, Thank you for the feedback. A few things that might help you get the kind of picture quality you are looking for. First, make sure the Display is getting a hi-definition or 4K signal. This means making sure that you're source device (like a cable/satellite box) is capable of HD or 4K, and that it's connected to your Display with an HDMI cable that can deliver the HD or 4K picture. You can also change between pre-set picture modes on the display by pressing the PIC button on your remote. This will toggle between a few picture setting that look good in different situations. If your display is in a bright room try Vivid or Calibrated. If it’s in a dimmer room try Calibrated Dark. VIZIO

Plenty of bang for your buck

After researching 4k tvs for quite some time, and seeing the associated black Friday prices, I decided to take the plunge with the Vizio P65 F1. For under $1,000 I was able to get the most highly rated mid range 4k that is considered just a step below OLED for less than half the price. After using the TV for about a week now, I am extremely pleased with the picture. This TV replaced a 55 inch Panasonic 3d TV that was consistently too dark to watch during certain scenes (think entire episodes of Game of Thrones) and the 3d had wore out its welcome a few years ago. This TV has incredible contrast between light and dark with crystal clear picture quality using a 4k fire stick and xbox one. You do have to play with the settings quite a bit out of the box as the standard vivid setting had too much of the soap opera effect for my taste. The only issue keeping me from giving this TV 5 stars is the sound quality. Without a sound bar or surround system, this TV is pretty unwatchable due to the tinny sound from the built in speakers. While most of the time this is not an issue, I like my sound system off once the kids are in bed.

First, my old TV is a Samsung 1080 p, medium tier TV that is decent quality. After a lot of research, I decided to head to best buy and try to get this tv on sale. When an employee approached me and I asked about a few TVs, he said this was a terrible TV and that many were returned because of poor gaming and other reasons. This contradicts what rtings.com came up when they reviewed this tv, so I was skeptical. I ended up deciding to try this out because of the good price (similar LED with Dolby vision, full array, dimming zones, might come around 1800 or more). I decided this over the TCL 6 series because of the reported banding issues. When I got this plugged in and set up, I immediately ran a dirty screen test on YouTube and found no issues. Followed the suggested visual settings from sites like rtings.com to get the best color and low latency for games. I can say that both 4k hdr and Nintendo switch games look great. I don't know if I just got lucky, but I am impressed, especially for the price. Only gripe is the smart system as it is clunky. Will probably just spend the 35 for Roku 4k. Long story short, do research online and don't necessarily listen when an employee is telling you to spend more money on an overpriced edge lit Samsung with worse dimming and hdr.

Pros: Brighter: better than sony x900e Blacks: better than sony x900e (dark room) Motion (gaming): better than x900e imo (sony can be a tad bit smoother while gaming it also produces artifacts or a blur around the character ,but the vizio dosent at all) Cons: Apps: Hulu wouldn't let me change to a different user without first doing it on my cell phone, youtube wouldn't even load at all unless i cast it from my cell phone Network: Even when hard wired ethernet with a 370MBs netflix and amazon shows would be horribly pixelated for the first couple of minutes Inputs: While switching hdmi inputs from one to another the tv would randomly restart. Sound: Not sure if this is the tv's fault or the vizio soundbar cause i bought them at the same time but sound maybe once a night might go out and id have to turn off the tv to get it back. again not sure if it's the tv or soundbar but roku ultra had dropout issues with dolby d+,dts setting and i had to use dobly, dts to remedy. Picture: If i didnt have a x900e to compare to i would say its great picture quality ,but its not compared to the sony. It's not as clear or sharp and the upscaling is no where near x900e.Trust me i set them up side by side and would watch the same 10 min of a show that looks flawless on the sony looked just ok on the vizio. I just watched a show on x900e and it blew me away i literally thought it was 4k HDR10 so that was the first show i watched when i got this p65-f1 and it looked bad and i found out its only a 1080p stream and the sony just upscaled it so good it looked better than most things streamed on netflix in 4k HDR ,but sadly the vizio's upscaling engine just made it look like 480p-720p not even 1080p. Flicker: x900e has none ever and the flicker while watching some shows on netflix and while gaming is just unbearable. While the sony x900e was my first 4k hdr tv it has set the bar so high that i just can't look past the flaws in this tv and knowing for just $200 more the 65x900e can be had i am packing this tv up for return tomorrow and going for the 65x900e or x900f.

I would say if you are on the fence about this TV; DONT BE! I just picked one up to replace my 4 year old M series and what an improvement, this thing is beautiful. You can't beat the picture quality and features for the price. I specifically waited until the Rtings.com review was up and made the purchase and couldn't be happier. Sure you can get a Sony or Samsung, but your going to spend at least $400 more and to the average consmer, ain't gonna tell the difference. For $1200, this TV really shines.

Vizio. You blew my mind. This TV is so bright and beautiful, I could only imagine what the P-Series Quantum is like. I probably would have purchased the P-Series Quantum instead at its current price point if it had 500 dimming zones. The P-series can get far brighter (2000 nits vs the 1000 nits in this model), but without more dimming zones I felt this was pointless. Yes, the dimming (i.e. Active Full Array) in this TV is beautiful! Play games or watch movies with high contrasts, and this wonder shines. Moana, Gears of War, Fortnite, Star Wars, etc. all look stunning on this TV. Active Full Array might looks odd (i.e. too much lighting leakage) to the extent that it bugs some when you have the setting on high and are navigating through simple menus consisting of a single background color (e.g. the XBOX ONE settings menu). As for Best Buy Customer Service, thank you. Without giving too many details, thanks for ultimately following through with your word in the way that a true customer service oriented business would.
