This 5.1 system is very easy to setup and doesn't need that much wiring. This soundbar filled up my small compact room but the only thing I didn't like were the rear speakers. The rear speakers compare to the whole package were lacking in sound clarity like as if it were cheap speakers!! Oh also the soundbar can get hot when used for a long time(Duh!) left of the power button.

I live in an apartment, and I didn't want to use my old 7.1 system with receiver, and all the wires that came along with that. I looked at these and compared a lot of different vendors. This has the 2 read speakers feed off the Bass, so no wires running across the floor to feed surround sound. The sound bar is tiny, but does a great job with sound. I can understand my Sharp 60" TV now and don't have to turn the volume way up. I was surprised of the size of the Bass. It's hard to tell in any of the pictures, but it's large. It's flat, which was weird enough, but I actually had to adjust the Bass down for my apartments. Rear speakers are tiny, and don't give a lot of impact to the 5.1, but sounds good enough. Remote needs a little work on the display. It's hard to read. Should have made it with back lighting to make it easier to read. I would recommend this product for the money.

We have not had a sound system in our home for many years. After many weeks of research I came upon this product and along with the great reviews, I decided to go for it. All I have to say is that we are continually looking for movies that we've seen in the past because the experience that we are getting from these speakers are truly amazing. It takes the movies to another level that we have not experienced in the past with the TV audio. It fills the room completely, the bass is amazing and the music from the movies sound incredible.

    Great sound when it works

Recently I bought a brand new Samsung 60in tv and along with that purchase I bought this Vizio surround sound. As you can imagine I was very excited to get it all home and working. Upon set up the surround sound worked great! I was so excited. Since that day I have had nothing but problems. I contacted Vizio and they made me download the app to run the surround sound. I have had nothing but problems with the app it almost never works. I've called back and they make me reset the system. Needless to say I am currently listening to music thru my tv because once again the surround sound won't connect. It's very frustrating considering the price point of this product. I've also had some problems with Netflix like some of the other reviews have stated. System sounds great when it's actually working. Which most of the time it's not

I just had a terrible experience with Vizio customer service. To say they were arrogant is an understatement. I have purchased from Samsung, Sony, Bose and others and nothing compared with the bad customer service I recieved from Vizio. I am guessing this is why they are so cheap as you get what you pay for. I will not buy from a company that does not stand behind its pricing or products. Buyer beware as I hope you dont get into same situatuon. you might be stuck paying a restocking fee for their products too!

    From Bose To VIZIO!!

I just have to say that starting this review, I came from having a Bose SR1 system. That system was amazing and I believe spoiled my taste in sound. Before I returned it and got this I tried the Samsung soundbar and sub with rear speakers model 5110 I believe and it was the worst sounding system I have ever had. I thought it was because of the Bose that my ears were ruined. I returned it to get my current Vizio SB4551 model got it home and it was missing a satellite speaker cable, no worries though because any RCA to RCA will work and Vizio has me one on the way now shipped fast for the inconvenience. I hooked everything up and WOW!!! What a system. I have it hooked up through HDMI ARC on my Sony 65” 930E 4K tv and have the system connected to WiFi so I can control it from the app and cast music onto it. This system just absolutely rocks and like a prior review, I haven’t been able to turn it all the way up due to it just being that freakin loud. The bass was non existent in the Samsung and no control over sub at all. The Vizio comes with an LCD screen remote and makes it pretty easy to figure out how to change settings. If you want it even easier then download the app and control it from your phone for instant changes to the system you can hear and set accordingly. The sub and bass will need to be nadjusted because on the highest setting it is shaking my walls and windows. Feels just like a small movie theater in the house!! It’s the closest thing to hearing a Bose system without breaking the bank and does a great job of producing wonderful sound. If you want to make it look clean you will have to hide the power cords and satellite speaker cables but it is 100% worth it. Haven’t heard the newest Bose 300 series soundbar and sub but I’ll tell you what, I’m not at all sad with this purchase one bit. Highly recommended product for those who want to hear theater sound in a small package. Oh and you can change the center speaker to hear voices crystal clear too, and when everyone goes to bed, hit night mode and the system shuts off the loud bass and just outputs nice clear sound without keeping the household awake.

The Vizio SB4551-D5 has a known pairing issue between the soundbar and the subwoofer/rear speakers. I purchased the unit on December 26 and although it came paired out of the box, I had to repair it on subsequent days until on the 4th day it wouldn't pair at all. When it works, it sounds amazing - but ours was bad out of the box. When I called Vizio on December 30, the company had thought they had all of them pulled, but apparently not - this unit was purchased from Best Buy and was in stock. We have to ship ours back to Vizio for an updated model. I have been pleased so far with how Vizio is handling the situation. Before purchasing, make sure you ask if it's the affected model.

We purchased this soundbar before thanksgiving if I'm not mistaken, we have tested a lot of sound bar and reviewed them via web. After 2 weeks of thinking and testing, we got this sound bar to date, we encountered no problems with it. I love the slick look and the quality of sounds. This is worth every penny :)

    Letting me down

I really really want to love this soundbar but it's letting me down. I had to return the first one because the sound kept getting cut off. I called their tech support and the guy said that I should not have it connected to HDMI and to connect it via the optic cable???. The reason why I wanted it HDMI is because it supports ARC and I wanted to control the volume using my TV's remote. So had to pack it up and had it exchanged. On this new one the Subwoofer and Satellite speakers keep disconnecting. I have to keep pairing them up. I may have to return it and look for something else. But I'll give their support another call to see what they say.

    Nice Sound

I am still feeling the soundbar out. The soundbar puts off great sound. The subwoofer and surround sound speakers sometimes don't connect via wirelessly to the whole system when I turn the TV on so only the soundbar can be heard during those times until I turn the subwoofer on and off which can be a pain getting to. The sub is quite powerful and puts off a lot of bass that cannot be turned down. This is where I have my doubts about if I enjoy all that pounding behind me since I put the sub behind the opening of a corner couch.

    Awful customer service

I received a defective satellite speaker so I called Vizio customer service to see about having it replaced (exchanged just the speaker). The satellite speaker did not have the whole drilled properly on the back to hang it on the wall. When I call customer service, I get this lady who I explain the problem but somehow she couldn't understand. She starts asking me about how my soundbar is connected and what "cable provider" I am using. How are these related to the issue?!!! The speaker has a physical defect!! She couldn't help so she transfers me to this other guy. I explain to him the problem and he tells me that there is no problem. He tells me to get somebody to help me to screw the screw. I told the guy, I just did the other speared and was able to put the screw in just fine on my own, so now I need help because i don't know how to put the screw on this one? We actually went back and forth about this for like 30 minutes. He insisted the speaker is fine and that I was the one who didn't know how to tighten the screw (even though I told him many times that I was able to do it on the other speaker). These people were basically calling me stupid. Very bad customer service. In fact, the worst I have ever run into. The product is not worth the price either.

This thing really gives you the theater feel. It blows my LG soundbar and sub away. Of course keep in mind the quality of surround sound does depend on what you are watching, how it was recorded, which platform it is being watched on and how you connect the tv to the soundbar. I use HDMI arc overt he fiber optic, but both work well. I arc it through my Apple tv. The sub is intense and I love how background noises are so clear in the rear "wireless" speakers. They are wired to the sub and the sub is bluetooth.

    Constant Frustration

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I've had this for about a year. Mediocre sound. Constant pairing issues with the smartcast app. I have to regularly reset the soundbar and go through the annoying process of repairing. The smartcast app itself is clunky and not intuitive. There are no sound profiles and it uses the same audio settings across all inputs. So when you switch between movies and music, you'll have to go in and change all your settings to your liking. I'm planning on selling this and just building an entry level system. For the price of this soundbar, you're better off looking elsewhere.

The sound is great, now the but. I have had two units fail in 1 year 3 weeks. Vizio says oh well. It is out of warranty so we could care less about two failures in that time frame. Also, go find some third party to repair it as we do not support our own products after one year

    Stay Away From THIS!

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I would not purchase this again, for 500 dollars it is far from worth it. I brought it initially for less than 350 new. I Initially had a few issues with it with keeping the wireless sub-woofer and rear speakers paired but was able to follow the online help instructions to trouble shoot it and fix it. These issues started almost within the first few months then progressively got worse and worse, what is even more supprising is that this sound bar is hardly used and despite this has completely failed within a few weeks after my first year of it. Now all i have is a 500 dollar waste of a 3.0 sound bar, the rear speakers are completely useless and do not pair for longer than three seconds. To make it worse since I called in for a replacement 2 weeks after owning it for just a year vizio no longer will support this sound bar, there is no fix once the wireless sound bar does not work, YOU CANNOT REPAIR IT, once borken your stuck paying another 500 dollars for a another one, they will only offer you a slight discount for a new one, which was was hardly a discount if anything 30 dollars off a cheaper model. If your considering on purchasing a model, make sure its hard wired, do not purchase from vizio consider a different brand with better warranty, quality and support. Pros: Comes with lots of cables for set up The concept of a wireless sub sounds nice (This broke within the first three months and is not repairable) Cons: -Smartcast is a joke, your better off buying a 35 dollar chrome cast of 20 dollar chrome audio, all this does is support chromeaudio it will not allow for video streaming -The app is horrible to set up, pairing and connecting to the internet is hard to do and will take 20 minutes to set up -Sound quality is not great, it only has two EQs music and movie. The sub and rear speakers do not sound great compared to other sound bars or just individual speaker set up. -THERE ARE NO REPAIRS AVAILABLE FOR THIS ITEM ONCE BROKEN YOU CANNOT REPLACE IT. -LACK OF CUSTOMER SUPPORT -LIMITED WARRANTY once it has any hardware fail dont expect anything less than having to buy another one at full price

This product is great—when it’s working. I find myself calling Vizio customer support every 3 months AT LEAST due to syncing errors. It will randomly disconnect from our television or from the subwoofer and not reconnect. This is the second model of this sound bar we’ve owned because our last one had the same issue, but couldn’t be fixed. Their customer service is great, but I’d rather NOT have to call them!

    Sounds good when it works

I upgraded from Vizio's 2013 5.1 model to this model about a year and a half ago. It sounds great. But, it's been pretty buggy. The bluetooth connection fails often, the SmartCast mobile app rarely works, the sound cuts out sometimes (usually only for bluetooth), and the subwoofer often takes several minutes to pair when the soundbar is powered on. I frequently have to turn the subwoofer off and on again to get it to work, or manually pair it. I don't mind the occasional bug, but the aforementioned problems occur frequently. It's an okay soundbar and it sounds good when it works. It would just be nice for it to work correctly every time I used it. The 2013 model had fewer features, but it sounded just as good and didn't have as many bugs. After a year and a half of usage, the subwoofer has a hard time staying connected to the soundbar. I called support, and they told me that normally they would replace it. But, since it's been over a year, my product is out of warranty. So, I'm just stuck with a broken soundbar that's not even two years old. Thanks for the piece of junk Vizio. Sounds good when it works. I just wish it worked like it's supposed to.

Rep warned me, was she trying to sell me warranty?

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I was excited to take this product home and set it up, since I wasn't satisfied with the sound quality of the previous purchase (different brand) that I had returned. I wanted to love it, but about a week later, sub woofer wouldn't connect. Followed the troubleshooting tips that I found on the Vizio website. After several attempts, and a lot of frustration, paired it again successfully to the sound bar. A week later, same issue. Paired it, with the same level of frustration again. The following week later, same issue again. This time with no success. Called Vizio and now I have to return it to them, and there's no telling when I will receive it back. I've only had it for a little over a month. Sales Rep warned me of the issue, but thought it was just a ploy to get me to buy the extended warranty. I wish I would've listened to her and bought something else. The irony is the previous one I returned was inexpensive but did what it was advertised to do. If you enjoy being frustrated with a product, then actually enjoying it, then this is the product for you.
