    Continuing and fulfilling the promise

Phantogram's first release, "Eyelid Movies" from 2010, was an amazing electronic album with masterful beats, soulful lyrics, complex layered songs, that made Phantogram a band to watch. Finally in 2014, Phantogram released their followup, and while good, and better than most electronic-based rock bands, it was not as good as their first album. At best, "Voices" is the fulfillment and continuation of Phantogram's sound and promise that is better than the vast majority of music being made today.. At worse, "Voices" is not as groundbreaking, tightly focused, nor as memorable as their previous release. If you love 2010's "Eyelid Movies", than "Voices" is a solid choice. I was deeply touched by the album being dedicated to Ben Curtis of School of Seven Bells. We miss you, Ben!

If you've enjoyed anything by Phantogram, you'll likely enjoy all of their releases, thus far. Therefore, I'd recommend purchasing all three of their releases, including the EP. "Voices" is probably the most instantly accessible of the three. For myself, half of the songs were immediately enjoyable; for example, the opening three songs, "Howling at the Moon," and a few others. The remainder of the songs, I consider to be growers, or they certainly grew on me, after several listens. Josh and Sarah's voices—no pun intended—are personal highlights for me, as they could probably be singing anything and I'd enjoy it. "Voices" is a great album and I'd definitely recommend it to everyone!

I've liked Phantogram for a bit now and am in love with their first two records. This one's just not quite as good. It's a bit more generic/poppy than their first two albums. It's got some good songs, and not really any bad ones, but nothing stands out like in Eyelid Movies of Nightlife.

first song i heard was 'fall in love,' best song on the album for me. i wanted to support them for such an amazing song. as of now, i only listen to about half of the album. half being ones i jump to, the other half i skip. if you're into synthpop/rock. give it a try.

I heard some of "Phantogram's" songs listening to AltNation on Sirius/XM, and thought they rose to the top of the new batch of Indie music. After listening to the whole album a few times, it is pretty solid.

Thankfully I had a friend introduce me to this band. I am not sure the genre, electro pop, or pop rock, electro poprock. Either way, they are very good. In their music you can hear influences from the Gorillas to the Cure. They are great fun in concert too.

This album gets a grade of 73% from me. Of the 11 songs total, only 3 are not good. (Tracks 7,8 &9 are the ones that I skip everytime). The best tracks are 2,6,&5 (in that order).

This is a spectacular album. I love the sound and the lyrics. Phantogram's music is so atmospheric and the lyrics contribute top a very solid emotional resonance that is often absent from electronic music.

Theyre like an upbeat trip hop group to me. Really different but awesome. Check out their group with big boi called Big Grams. Awesome album as well.
