Baby monitors have come a long way since I was a child. This Vtech monitor takes it to the next level of technology built into a baby monitor. First, this monitor comes with two cameras. This is especially convenient once your child becomes a little older. I have one set up in his bedroom and then one set up in the room he plays in. The monitor itself is super portable and includes a high def 5 in screen. It includes multiple viewing options so you can have both cameras up at once or just one of them. Some of my favorite features are the temperature gauges on the camera. This can help you ensure that the temperature in the room where you child is at is exactly how you would like it. Another significant feature is that the camera can act as a night light and even has multiple color options. The cameras themselves have a wide FOV but also can be remotely turned left/right/up/down. The video is crystal clear and night vision allows you to have eyes on your child even in the pitch black. The motion sense technology works well and alerts you if the cameras sense motion. One thing that sets this baby monitor over many other is the included app that allows you to access the cameras remotely if you so choose. The only downside is that it requires a 2.4 ghz network and they will not work on a 5ghz network. This setup has many features and if you are not tech savvy it can be difficult to use them to their full advantage. Out of all the baby monitors I have ever used these are by far my favorite. They can be used from the time your child is a newborn and even when they become older and you would like to keep eyes on them. I would highly recommend this monitor system for anyone who has small children.

Worked well for 1 month. Getting a warranty replacement has been a nightmare.

Setup was simple but took a little while longer than we expected. Set the system up on two different phones and the picture and menus were clear and simple to use. The nicest part of the camera set was that we could set one up high and one at about waist (tabletop) height and with the 360 panning feature and the tilt, the whole room was covered easily. Camera response to commands was quick even through phones. the console size and clarity was also a great feature and being able to carry the monitor around was nice. even worked well and stayed connected on the porch and in the garage. Motion tracking seems to work well although in our case it isn't necessary yet. The zoom feature was nice, the monitor doesn't allow zoom as tight as the phones do, but that's fine since we use the monitor when we about a minute away from the room any way. The night vision mode was very clear - like a decent black and white television without the artifacts from dust or glare we had seen on other low light gear. All in all a very solid system and makes monitoring easy.

I've had a few different top named brand baby monitors to use and although they all have a lot of similarities each one does stand out on its own making it a little more unique out in a crowd of so many. My favorite feature on the VTech Two Camera 1080p Smart wifi set has got to be the night light feature. On no other baby monitor set have they had something that made the cameras themselves stand out like that. The illumination adds a soothing light to the babies room. It has multiple colors as well. The cameras have a nice smooth motorized pan and tilt so you can see almost everything in a room. The viewing monitor is a vibrant full color 5 inch display with zoom functions and volume buttons all to the right of the screen on the portable viewing monitor. It has two way talk so you can hear the room as well as speak to anyone in it. All around all of the general features you'd want in a baby monitor, this one has it and then some! It comes in a great price point as well with two cameras and the viewing monitor included! I'd definitely recommend this to anyone in search of a great monitor

SYSTEM/SET-UP The VTech 2 Camera system comes with everything you need: The 5" display unit, 2 Cameras, power adapters for all three components, 2 wall mounts for the cameras + the screws/anchors for mounting. This set-up process isn't a perfect process as it can get complicated for people who aren't technologically all that savvy but, generally speak, it goes pretty easy. It's not rocket science so I wouldn' the overly worried with your capabilities. There's a Quick Start guide and an Installation Guide as well as resources online to help you along the way. I did take away a star due to the Wifi connectivity being sometimes a bit unreliable. However, I switched to a different router for specific devices in my home, which definitely helped to ensure continuous availability. Much like other at-home camera systems, this also comes with the option to tap in using your mobile device(s). No subscription needed for live video streams. CAMERAS The 1080p picture quality is perfectly sufficient for the 5" display. The camera canisters themselves actually offer quite a bit of options. The cameras themselves have a 360 degree pan (so it's not limited in the viewing angles of a typical static camera unit), they can tilt up and down up to 100 degrees from top to bottom, and they can zoom. I can't quite figure out if it's your standard digital zoom or if the cameras are equipment with physical zoom too but given the size of the display screen and the 1080p resolution, zoomed in images are good. Could they be improved? Of course, but given that this is intended as an attainable at-home baby monitor system, don't expect industry grade technologies. The cameras themselves function as a night light (touch activated), which I found to be actually quite useful as they also allow for better image quality in the dark. One thing that's convenient is that they also have sound and light "profiles" available cycle through different tunes and soothing sounds. What they don't mention is that the cameras are equipped with temperature monitors so there's another layer of comfort there. DISPLAY/CONTROLS The display system has controls to pan the camera around so you don't have to physical move the camera around - especially if it's mounted this is a convenient option. There's an intercom button on there to communicate with your child remotely. There's also the zoom button on there to utilize the zoom function. Settings are available through the monitor for set alarms/alerts to sense motion, sounds, and temperature. The display is rated to have a 12 hour playback time but I've always plugged it in between uses so this was never an issue for me. There's an option to adjust mic sensitivity. Overall, this system has a lot of options to play with and it includes a lot more than standard baby monitors on the market. The monitor didn't reach my back yard but after I swapped out my router to expand my wifi range, the monitor stays connected to the cameras as they're wifi based.

This is a great baby monitoring system to help keep an eye on baby. Setting up the system is super easy. Plug in everything, download the app and follow the instructions. The cameras and handheld screen need to be updated out of the box(of course). It did take a while but be patient and they will update. The handheld screen has a great picture. Easy to navigate but just remember it's not a touch screen so you have to use the buttons. Battery life isn't the best but it will go for a day, just plug it back in at night. Picture quality of the cameras is very good during the day but have a nightlight as the night vision drops way down. The ability to move the cameras, pan and tilt, remotely is wonderful! you can cover wide areas of a room, crib on one side and play pen on the other. The microphones are very sensitive, I had to turn them down to low, and can still hear the smallest noises. The cameras can also be used as white noise machines, there are several sounds pre recorded. Great when going down for naps! The built in nightlights are a bonus. You can even change the colors! The ability to remotely view the cameras on your phone is wonderful as well. If your at work you can check in on the babysitter, monitor the house, spy on pets, or check outside if you have them by windows. I'm going to see if vtech makes security cameras. This system loads up so much faster than the more expensive arlo cameras I have outside.

We are new grandparents and we figured this would be perfect to use while we are babysitting at night and weekends. Once out of the box, I plugged in the cameras and the display monitor. Afterwards, I downloaded the app and read the instructions stating a firmware update is required. Once following the instructions and the firmware update was confirmed, I linked the two cameras to the display monitor. We're quite impressed with the picture quality on the display monitor and on the app. There haven't been any connection issues as of yet. I like how the cameras display the room temperatures based on their locations. The cameras also have motion detection notifications with movement if you choose to turn on this setting. Both cameras also have a nightlight feature. You can choose different colors and brightness settings from the app or the display monitor. The biggest surprise is the ability to play lullabies and other sounds through the camera speakers. Both cameras also pick up sound very clearly and you can even speak through the app or the display monitor. You can also add additional cameras if you choose to. This baby monitor is really great in my opinion and will be awesome for both new parents and new grandparents.

Given this was my first baby monitoring system I had no idea what to expect. This is a big deal nowadays and there are many options. VTech is a long-standing brand and this model seemed to have the important features and flexibility I was looking for. Safety was my number one concern. There has been numerous devices that have been hacked in to or otherwise, typically related to the user but I wanted to have a safe device. There's nothing special about how VTech maintains safety of camera hacking on the user end but overall the experience seemed trusting. I have my house on a VPN and smart devices isolated from the main network to assist with this. The cameras are good quality. 1080p is okay but there's not a lot better at a reasonable price. When placed within 10-15 feet at less than 8 ft height (no more than 5 feet from baby), the day light/lights on quality was good. We're obviously not looking for a pristine view, but need to be able to clearly see positioning and breathing. At night, the quality was about 7/10. Could be better but it was good enough. The video screen is small and the quality is 7/10. 5" is nice and compact but it is on the smaller side. The pan/tilt feature is very nice. Remote access wasn't an issue at all.

This review is for the VTech 2 camera 1080p smart WiFi with remote access. First off set up was a breeze. After unboxing I easily connected to both cameras one by one. And my first impression was great. This unit has an awesome picture quality on the display screen. And the PTZ functions almost dosen't have any delay time at all. Almost at the same time as I push the button to move a camera it responds almost instantly. The display monitor can also be used wireless. So it's easy to take with you as you move around the house. The sound quality is ok at best. The two way talk function works good, with no lag. You have 4 zoom setting from 1x, 3x, 12x, and 24x. Now the picture quality does start to get grainy the more you zoom. The mobile app works good. I like this function. So even when I cann't be home I can still check in and see the kids. Things that I wasn't impressed with was trying to view both cameras at the same time. The video quality becomes very poor and choppy lagging out alot. I do like that each camera can read the temperature in the rooms they are in.

I've been using this baby monitor with my new little one for a few days now. I just recently purchased a Vtech VM901. And I own an old Motorola camera. First off, compared to old cameras with junk screens, you definitely should get a unit with an HD screen. It is a huge upgrade. Everything is so clear. So this is a huge upgrade over the Motorola camera. I think that at the end of the day, all of these HD cameras from Vtech will serve to perfectly fine, each just has it's own quirks that's makes them different. Some offer 360 degree pan, some only 270. Some offer 180 tilt, some none. Some offer optical zoom most don't. Some offer SD, most are HD. Basically what you need is an HD camera that comes with an HD standalone monitor, with the ability to do pan and tilt. Optical zoom would be nice but it is too much of an expense for baby monitors. Don't worry if your camera doesn't do full 360 pan or full 180 tilt. At the end of the day you will only use those features to adjust the camera after you set it up, after which you'll never move again. So for example, compared to the VM901 camera, these cameras have less tilt but it's nothing to worry about. I just set the camera and use a minimal amount of pan and tilt to find the best angle. It's nice that this unit comes with two cameras, but you'll find you don't really need two cameras for one child in the same room. Just focus on the head with one camera and put the other camera in another room. It's best for not having to relocate cameras to multiple rooms. Put a camera in the nursery and the other in another room the baby frequents. It makes the side-by-side feature kinda useless, but whatever. It's all about convenience, which 2 cameras offers. The cameras come with a night light with multiple color options and the ability to produce music and white noise. They are nice features but because it is all controlled through the screen, you'll find that it's much better to have a standalone night light and white noise machine. Last thing you need is to have to dealing with the screen at 2am to turn those things off. That's not to say that the features were done poorly, quite the contrary. The night light is amazing. Just if you are in the market for a camera, these features shouldn't make-or-break the purchase. The handheld unit is really nice. The screen from the vm901 is the same, the difference is that the unit here is smaller, which makes it much more comfortable to hold. Setting up the app is very easy. Much easier than with the Motorola unit, and the connection never fails. My only complaint is that different units use different apps. There isn't a unified app. This model uses the Baby Plus app. The vm901 uses the Baby Pro app and you can't share cameras between the two apps, heck...you need two different accounts, for the same manufacturer! Very annoying. Excellent product, just be aware that it's unlikely you'll be able to mix and match old Vtech products with this one.

I frequently attempt to watch my niece and nephew. They are a handful and constantly on the move, except when sleeping. They key is to know which function they are doing, and it changes quickly. This vtech monitor system was my answer. I have one camera in the bedroom where they sleep, and another in a play area. Set up was a but complicated as there were a lot of steps, both with the units and my smart phone. One of the nice things about this unit, is the ability to see and control from outside the home by remote. Essentially, this doubles as a security camera especially with the ability to pan and tilt- I thought this was particularly useful. Undating, the unit out of the box was the most complicated as part of the setup. I had to do it a few times before it actually updated. The picture quality is excellent on both my phone and the monitor. There is a slight lag doing pan and tilt, but it was acceptable. The two way sound was decent although this resulted in the cameras being knocked over a few times- trying to tell me something, I think! All in all, once set up I was very pleased with the system. I like the monitor stream and it allowed me to go to the patio area with no issues. Only thing on my wish list would be a bigger monitor screen. Some nice touches are the temperture sensor and the wide angle viewing.

Video is great, audio not so much. Provides most of what I need to justify the purchase

I love these cameras the split screen feature really comes in handy, when I’m laying the baby down I can still keep an eye on my toddler with the pan out feature while he plays
