If I had gotten this phone for an elderly person, that person could not have the manual dexterity to use it. Therefore I would have taken the phone back to Best Buy. Finally, price will be my motivation to buy another cordless phone. And if that doesn't work, I would then return the phone.

This phone is very simplistic in design but has all the features you would like in a cordless phone. Last VTECH lasted me 6 years and I feel comfortable this one will last that long or longer.

I didn't need anything fancy, but found that this phone felt cheap -- like something I would easily break. But, I could have lived with that. However, I needed decent sound quality -- at least as good as my cell phone, but found this to lack clarity. Maybe I got a lemon; I'm not sure. But, I returned the phone and decided to double my budget.
