However, a black scum grows in the flosser and the unit needs disassembling with a thorough cleaning. I tried using mouthwash in the water reservoir.

Posted .We are sorry that this happened. Running distilled white vinegar and warm water through the unit and handle regularly, as recommended, will prevent the issue by breaking down any buildup that may be accumulating. If you use additives or have very hard water, you can do certainly do it more often. Here is a link to our cleaning blog that has detailed cleaning instructions.
