works great, so much better than what I had. much faster now

I experienced a hard drive failure on my PS4. I started pricing a new PS4 and a PS5 as I thought I had no other options. I started googling and realized replacing the hard drive was a simple task. I purchased this hard drive, downloaded the PS4 reinstallation software onto a flash drive and my DEAD PS4 was alive again and functioning better than previously. I’d much rather pay $40 and install a new Hard drive than pay hundreds on a new system. I’m glad I purchased this as switching the hard drive only involved 5 screws total and about a 90 second replacement time.

Old hard drive died, so a new one was needed. It's like any other hard drive where it works and is fast enough with a good amount of space. It just works.

Purchased this hard drive to replace/upgrade a failing 500GB laptop hard drive. Swap-out was simple and straightforward; took less than 5 mins (most of which was removing/replacing screws and swapping the metal hard drive frame). Formatted easily and re-installation of OS & software occurred flawlessly (unable to clone due to errors on original drive). Faster boot time compared to previous drive, but that may be because of errors on previous drive. However, it is not slow to boot up. New hard drive continues to live up to expectations with no errors, and the extra capacity is a definite bonus.

It’s a hard drive, so you don’t buy for speed. Probably not the •best• value either, but still very good. It only claims to work with Windows, but I was able to use it in a 2013 iMac just fine. I’m never going to use all the storage with this computer. It’s solid, quiet, and reliable. Good for mass storage.

Had to replace the HD on or laptop - they don't like to be dropped. A little bit of research, a quick stop at Best Buy and we are back in business. Installation is pretty straightforward. Thank goodness we learned our lesson years ago and habitually backup our computers to external drives. Didn't realize how clunky the old drive was until we fired this new one up. Price-wise beats the heck out if buying a new computer - although I do miss that new computer smell...

You don't need SSD speeds to store lots of content on your laptop. This drive was the perfect choice for additional storage in a laptop configured to boot from a SSD. Just configure Windows to relocate the Documents, Photos and Videos folders from the SSD to the spinning drive and make sure you provide some means of backing up everything (don't rely strictly on OneDrive).

Finally got fed up with running low on storage in my old laptop. Checked online and saw prices have finally dropped for laptop hard drives.Used Acronis to backup up old drive and restore to new one. Went beautifully! Love the extra space. Upgraded Windows to latest. This laptop will last me a good bit longer now. Wish I had bought this sooner. Used to run a computer repair shop and Western Digital is a brand I have always trusted with my data.

This is a very solid and well-performing hard drive. It may not have the speed of an SSD, but for the price, it is a good hard general-purpose storage. It makes a great replacement for a PS3 or PS4 console and works very well on laptops that use 2.5-inch drives.

The price for the WD 1TB drive was reasonable. It was easy to install into the notebook PC because the PC manufacturer (IBM/Lenovo) had a good design compared to the Dell that was not designed to ever have the drive replaced. I was intending to get the Black but it was not available when I stopped in, so I got the Blue. Thanks to Best Buy for stocking the model WD10JPVT which has normal dimensions (instead of WD10TPVT that has a height of 0.49/12.50 so would not have fit). I used Acronis to re-install onto the new drive. Acronis was not able to copy from the old to the new drive because the block sizes were diferent, but Acronis clarified that Backup of the old then Restore onto the new would handle the difference in native media block size, and that worked without a hitch! The new 1TB WD drive was a 4K block size currently formatted as 512 emulated, and the old drive was 512 native, so copy to a different block size was not allowed) The full system backup using Acronis worked to my FAT32 backup because Acronis handled splitting the files as needed for FAT32 (Windows didn't do that for me, so my previous backups were always limited in size by the file size limit on FAT32. Performance was not found to be any slower than my previous drive.

I bought this for my 60gb Fat, backward compatible, PS3. Sony recommends only using up to a 500gb hard drive, but after doing a ton of research, I've learned that many people have had no issues going up to a 1TB hard drive, as long as you use the correct type in your old PS3. I've had this in my PS3 for a couple months now with no issues. I think it's one of the better choices out there for retro gamers looking for a bigger PS3 internal hard drive.

Let's be honest, I could say that this is the best hard drive ever then you could get one and it could crash and burn right after you load all your precious data on it (luckily you kept a back-up right?). The truth is that, for me, this hard drive was exactly what the box said. I installed it into an early 2011 MacBook Pro without any problems. It has run happily ever since (albeit a bit on the noisy side at times). It hasn't crashed. The speed is exactly what I expected. I have no complaints. Will it work for you? Maybe. Odds are that out of the millions of these things that are made yours will be just fine. There is a chance that you may get a lemon but that's going to happen with anything you buy. Back up your data and don't get too upset if you are the exception. The rest of us thank you for taking one for the team. In summary: It's working and I don't have any complaints. I hope yours does too.

Great hard-drive. Can't go wrong with wd. Reliable, fast, and a great value.

Bought this to upgrade my Ps4. Easy swap out mechanically. Took 10 minutes. But, the System Install Software would not read in Safe Mode. Had to turn off and turn back on in normal mode and it read instantly. Game downloads from disk were short. Took a while to download updates. The new drive is slightly faster than the original hard drive. Works great. Holds about 25 games.

I changed the hard drive on my ps4 with this one. It was quick and easy! The formatted space was about 860, so it's definitely enough space for everything I download. Not much else to say about it, it does what it's supposed to do. Great for the price, too.

This was easy to install inside my brother's HP Envy laptop. It's fast, very quiet and runs cool. The price was great and the warranty is a plus. If you don't need an SSD, I'd recommend this HD for your laptop replacement. WD stills makes great HDs.
