    When I need a replacement drive, this is the drive I choose every time. In my experience, the drives have good longevity (6 to 8 years, the industry standard is about 5 years). If you need to replace an old drive (and I recommend replacing hard drives long before they fail if the data is important to you) you can't go wrong with this drive. To be safe, get a S.M.A.R.T. drive monitor to keep tabs on the drive health.

    If you want to pay more for better performance get the WD Black, but the WD mainstream is a solid performer and a great value.
