    I bought this hard drive to replace the drive that kicked it on my old MAC. The price was good, and the drive suits my needs. A bit slow though, I knew that going into the purchase.

  • 2TB "SATA" Disc Drive - Good Price, Short Life

    I was looking for a full SATA digital drive, and I ended up with this one by mistake. I thought it was bit deceptive to call it a "SATA" drive when in fact its a disc drive, but the SATA reference is to the wiring connection form. For a disc drive it works fine and provides a really good value for the money, but I only expect three or four years out of it at best. Disc drives fail far faster than a true digital SATA drive. So I plan to put in a digital SATA as a synced backup anyways.

    Since this was a "Mainstream" drive, I had expected it to be the same as their old "Blue" class drive; not so, it's a "Green" class drive. Other than that, it's a WD - it should perform for a good long time.
