For years I had avoided WD hard drives because I have seen significantly more DEAD WD drives than any other brand. They had proven to be unreliable in my experience, and in others. But I figured they must have improved their manufacturing by now, so I took a chance to see if it was better. NOPE!!! The drive is dead on arrival. The first machine would report no drive present, and if you powered off, unplugged and replugged it, the drive would suddenly appear in the system setup. I tried a MSWin10 install, and it hung for a long time trying to partition the disk, never actually being able to partition it. This was a replacement for a working drive in taht machine. Tried in a second system, also functional. Onve again, MSWin10's installer just outright reported it couldn't work with the drive (reported as an i/o device error). As these machines work perfectly fine with OTHER disks, it is obvious it's defective, which means Western Digital's "quality" control has gotten worse than ever. And since BBuy can't be bothered to carry any other HDD brand, I won't be buying any more from them.

this hard drive is the 2nd one in the last 2 years that I have had to replace. So far it has been doing everything that I expected. However, stay tuned.

Just regret. hard drive todays day is just too slow, not even just for games. Loading times are crazy with Hard drive. Price was good, HD works well, but is just too slow compering with SSD.

They’re ok. Some come broken. Make sure it works before you have it for too long and get an exchange!

I also bought a Seagate drive from Amazon a week later for a different computer. The Seagate drive is a lot quieter. The WD drive gets the job done, though.

The CRS from BestBuy advises that it does not include any screws. Luckily, screws have come with the product. I do not need to spend extra money on screws.

New but seems to be working OK but now need to reload information on the hard drive.

Great for data backup everyday use at reasonable price.

Not sure why but nothing but issues installing this and getting it to record with my security device. Needs better instructions.

I could have bought a faster hard drive for the same price. So far it hasn't crashed. It is the Wu-Tangiest though! for sure.

Doesn’t work as fast as I thought it nothing special

i used it for a back up drive it ran fine for about 3 weeks. then it started making noise. then asked to be formatted even though i already stored files on it. then after i didnt reformat the drive it died so basically a fine piece of crap from western digitial

I sure wish the average lifespan would be longer than 2 years. Other than that I like the drive.

My hard drive failed in September, so I headed over to Best Buy to get a replacement. I selected this WD drive as a good bet, since I'd had good luck with WD drives in the past. It installed with out any problems as my Windows 10 Pro boot drive on 10-4-2017. It failed on 12-7-2017. Now my computer will not boot from the drive, Even running CHKDSK locks up partway through, so the drive is useless.
