WD is the best HDD
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Western Digital drives are reliable and hardy. It takes a lot of abuse, and it keeps on performing. This will be my 15th drive purchased and they all last a very long time with proper care and drive maintenance.

Good drive.
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had to replace a hard drive for a PC that crashed. This hard drive was on sale. I was glad I bough it, I had enough space to transfer my old data over to the new machine once I add the OS to this drive. Well worth it.

A good replacement drive
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had never bought a WD drive before. My old drive had stopped working at all. I hooked it up and installed windows and have not looked back. This drive is great for replacing a broken drive or I imagine it would work fine as a secondary drive. It has been running for a month now with no problems at all.

Added Storage
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Needed to increase storage due to increased record storage. This fit the bill perfectly with SATA connectors and the ability set up easily as an additional drive. Works great with my primary drive which is an SSD.

Great for average user storage. NOT for RAID!!
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great for typical storage needs in Windows/Linux, but do not use this drive for RAID configurations! This drive uses SMR(Shingled Magnetic Recording) method which is not suitable for RAID. You will corrupt your data with this drive. This drive used to use CMR (Conventional Magnetic Recording) which is ideal for RAID but WD swapped the CMR for SMR on many of their drives especially in the Blue line. I think theres only CMR in the larger dries of the Blue line. 4tb *might* be CMR but you will want to google which drives use CMR/SMR to be certain. Other than that great storage capacity for the price and WAS my go-to drive for storage till I learned about SMR vs CMR platter methods.

Hey pretty fast drive
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was on a budget so I could spend a whole Lotta money, this drive provided an excellent solution for a balance of speed and cost and capacity. I would probably buy another one in the future if I needed one. Or if I get rich I would love to get a 4 TB solid-state drive if they make those at some point!

WD HDD Is Hit
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Good mechanical hard disk drive. The solid-state ones are so much better, but they cost three times the mechanical ones. This particular HDD is fine, though. Reasonably priced.

It's a WD HDD. It works.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Gosh, it's a hard drive. Install in machine (Dell's use their plastic tray, so you have to get one of those if you need to), attach SATA data cable (some, like the Dell, require a right-angle connector so the case cover can be installed), install power cable (If you have an old power supply that uses MOLEX connectors you need an adapter), close the case and turn on the unit. Check the BIOS to make sure the SATA drive connection is turned on, and if the machine doesn't recognize the new HDD (say, if you installed this as an additional drive) then to to Computer Management (Right click 'computer' desktop icon, click 'manage', click 'disk management' and you can then tell the CPU to read this drive) There's a driver that installs automatically, and then the HDD works like a fully accessible HDD. No problemo. And being a Western Digital, should last a long time. All the above for a Win 7 refurbished machine.

quiet and quick
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought two of these hard drives after my external hard drive crashed. They run very quietly and have excellent access times even after prolonged rests. I am going to get more of these to mirror my current drives for back up.

A good replacement drive for everyday use.
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this drive to replace a failing drive in a small tower computer. I've found WD drives to be more reliable than many other manufacturers over the years. They are a cost effective way to replace and/or increase the amount of disk storage in computers used in the home that do not require super fast access speeds offered by SSD's.
