    Runs hot, but quiet. Has a relatively slow week time but a solid read/write performance. These drives are the backbone of my spinning disk backup strategy and I trust WD in cases where they will run hot, and run hard. If I need a drive to take non-blunt force trauma abuse I go with WD. For applications where blunt force and hard disks meet I go with solid state disks.

    I personally did not know that the whole drive was not accessible from Windows without jumping through some hoops. The Acronis software, while truncated, was okay, but WD changed to different software for the install sometime between when I bought the drive and when I installed it. As a result, it did not move boot partitions reliably, and I had to do some jigging about to make things work properly. As it was, I lost some data on the install. Would have been nice to let us know.
