Old hard drive failed. The upgraded to WD drive. Works great.

bought this hard drive to repl a failed hard drive in an old acer laptop price was good installation went through without a hitch no issues.

This HD drive has a good quality/price ratio and is perfect for old laptops.

By 'basic' I mean this drive is a serviceable unit but lacks the speed one would desire. For older laptops, especially for something to salvage client data onto, this is fine. When replacing a laptop drive, check what the speed is on the drive you are replacing. You would be surprised how many, even newer laptops, are running pretty darn slow drives.........well, this would not speed up or slow down most mid to lower range laptops. If you have a fast laptop, you should really go with the PNY solid state drive. But when replacing a 5400 speed or more basic this is fine. Hey, building or rebuilding just a really basic desktop? These can make do just fine and are in-stock at more often than the smaller end of the desktop drives.

Following a crash of my hard drive a quick trip to Best Buy enabled me to purchase this new drive and a screwdriver set. Switched over drive in parking lot and took my laptop to the Apple shop where they reinstalled my OS. All completed in around 2 hours.

They had a failing Seagate HDD so I moved them to the WD, as I did with my in-laws, wife's and a friends computers who's Seagate's were failing (one VERY badly). I used the Acronis that you can download from their website and it worked great. WDD now for me!

Working great for what needed in an older laptop that decided to die.

This is my third harddrive I purchase from WD. Each one is excellent...never had crash problems at all...speed is great. All around awesome product .

when I replace a hard drive at work, this is usually the go-to that I get, unless the user as a specific need. the price and performance are just right

My Toshiba laptop wasn't working and when I took it to Best Buy they confirmed that the hard drive was bad. This was the hard drive they recommended to put in. So far everything's working great. The only thing I would have done differently is get a larger hard drive. I didn't think about it until it was too late, but everything's fine, so I really have no complaints.

This was a replacement hard drive. The speed and quality are a perfect match for the price. Nice warranty and easy installation!

The drive itself is probably fine, and certainly Western Digital is an excellent supplier. This one was bought to replace a blown Hitachi in an aging MacBookPro, so it had a pretty hard road to go on to begin with. There's still some negotiating going on, but so far, none of the issues look to be chargeable to the Drive.
