My internal hard drive needed replacing and this one has more memory than the factory installed one. Seems to run great.

I bought this as a replacement for a friend who's hard drive suffered a mechanical failure. It operates as expected, has no odd behavior, and was a direct fit after swapping the mountings over from the old drive. It's been just over a month and I haven't heard any complaints about the drive.

These drives are some of the best money can buy for a mechanical drive. As a computer engineer for over 20 years I only purchase Western Digital drives.

I installed this as my data drive when I replaced the failed 1TB loptop HD with an SSD. Together with the SSD I have the full 1TB capacity but boot times are significantly faster with this configuration.

This hard drive replaced the original in my Dell laptop. It installed easy, has good capacity and was reasonably priced.

A friend's laptop hard drive failed. The old drive was a Seagate, but I did not bother to check the age. I worked in the IT field for years and prefer WD drives. I purchased this new WD Blue 500 GB Internal SATA as a replacement drive. This drive was larger than the original and price was also a factor, which is why I chose it over a SSD. I needed a way to reimage the new drive from a backup image I had previously made that was on a WD EasyStore unit. Connected the Insignia 2-bay HDD docking station to my laptop, placed the old drive into it and verified the drive had failed and I was unable to access any info from it. I installed the replacement hard drive into the Insignia, then connected the EasyStore to my laptop. I initialized the replacement laptop, then restored the Acronis backup image from the EasyStore onto the new drive. Installed the replacement drive into the friend's laptop, booted up and all is running well. This drive has only been in use since May 2021, so I cannot speak on durability/longevity, but I have been using WD drives for years without any issues, so I expect they should get years of normal use from it.

I find my new hard drive for my laptop is efficient and fast. It stores a great deal of files...great amount of memory.

I'm so disappointed to find out that a laptop hard drive can be bad right out of the box and need replacing. Mine was a year old and replaced the hard drive per the Geek Squad recommendation.

The hard drive installed easily enough, but the data transfer software that Western Digital advertises for this laptop hard drive only works with desktop drives. So I had to install the operating system and everything from scratch. Other than that, it has been working fine.
