    The hard drive on my laptop crashed so this was a replacement. Best buy geek squad replaced for me and luckily I had recovery disks

    Since this hard drive was replaced, it works well. However I had the exact same problem (very loud whining sound from speakers that couldn't be controlled) about a year and three months ago.

    Western Digital makes some great hard drives, this one being one of them. I deal with a lot of different manufacturers and hundreds of hard drives a year, and WD is my go-to option.

    This drive is a cheap increase in capacity for older laptops with small or dying hard drives. Works with non-SSD laptops from 2006 on.

    I needed a drive to replace one that had some bad sectors. The new drive worked perfectly after doing to straight hard drive copy. Was able to launch windows and continue working just fine.
