Customers are saying
Customers often highlight the easystore 10TB External USB 3.0 Hard Drive's massive storage capacity, ease of setup, and excellent price. Many also appreciate its convenient USB 3.0 interface and quiet operation. The compact size is another frequently praised aspect. While some users wish for built-in encryption, the positive feedback on other features outweighs this concern.

poor documentation
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I followed what I thought was the path to hookup but the program failed to download. I finally should Skipped that step and was able to get the unit up and working.

24 Month Warranty, 25 Month Life Expectancy
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Used as external backup for 2 years and a month. Earlier this week we started hearing a thunk noise and tracked it down today to this drive. You can't hear it every time it happens, but put your hand on the case and it's definitely happening several times a minute. Our records saw we got it in February 2019, but Best Buy is saying February 2020. But you know what, we don't want another one.

Subpar SMR type drive?
||Posted . Owned for 10 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am starting to think that these units use the sub-par SMR drives. CMR was the standard until WD swapped them out for the cheaper sub-par SMR drives. Look up the specifics online. They swapped them without informing anyone on their site, marketing material or on the product box. Beware! Not happy with my purchase because of their deception. Would like confirmation from WD either way.

Its a usb backup how can you screw it up?
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So far so good. As long as the drive doesn't screw up how can it fail?

Constantly disconnects
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought two of them. First one was fine, had no issues. Second one was completely unusable, would disconnect immediately. I sent that back and got a refund and bought a third one. Third one will stay connected most the time, but will still sometimes disconnect.

Not quite DOA but almost
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Well, I usually look at the % of bad reviews for an item then purchase the one with the lowest % of 1 stars, assuming a reasonable number of reviews. Based on this approach, I bought the WD 10TB Easystore. Got it home. Reformatted it (as instructed) using the Apple Disk Utility to use as a Time Machine backup. Took FOREVER to format. Ran a speed test on it and it was writing at a WOPPING 8MB/s. Reformatted again. No better. Reformatted using the WD utility. No better. Ran the WD drive test. After 14 hours it was only 90% finished. BTW, after each format the summary showed +/-1.2GB used so I guess that represents the amount in bad sectors. This puppy is headed back to the store today.

Not recognized by Mac Pro (Early 2009)
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Advertised as Plug and Play with MacOS but it is not. Also states it would need to be reformatted for Mac but it's impossible to format as Mac doesn't recognize the drive. I tried all the suggestions like using Disc Utility, Finder, upgrading to USB 3.0, trying a different Apple computer to no avail. Easystore does appear under System Report under USB so the cable appears to be good. Other external drives appear right away. I have a WD internal additional drive and it's great. I'm disappointed with Easystore and will return it.

Check the drive ASAP
||Posted . Owned for 5 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this drive for a new build and wasn't able to really check it until I was out of the return window. When I finally connected it to the PC it started giving smart errors. I paid shipping to have it fixed under warranty by WD. They said the drive in there was not the original drive. What I learned is that people buy these externals, remove the drive and replace it with an old or broken one and return them and get their money back. Box looked sealed, drive enclosure still had the plastic on it. I'm not out a bunch of money so some kid could cheat the system. Be sure to check the drive right away.

Died in a Week
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am bother disappointed but also relieved that this drive died when it did. I had to replace my HDD array on my server and used this drive to pull all the data off (sketchy) and then load it back on to the new drive array. This drive died the next day after transfer. Fortunately I got everything over just in time, but for a brand new drive to move 6.5TB once then die is not at all acceptable. Returned it not sure I'd ever try again. That would have been a terrible loss.

Faulty Drive
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've had the device for one month and the 10TB drive shows 0 space and it not recognized by my computer. I've gone to the WD Easystore support page to troubleshoot. My drive is defective. Of course, I've already saved my important files to the drive. I did purchase the Geek Squad product replacement but freaking out about the files I have saved on the device.

Easystore device faulty after less than 60days
||Posted . Owned for 3 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Purchased 2 enclosures, both units became faulty after 45 days. Disks no longer showing 10TB of space, the hard drives now are only showing 2TB. WD customer support is terrible an unwilling to replace units.
