Customers are saying
Customers often highlight the easystore 10TB External USB 3.0 Hard Drive's massive storage capacity, ease of setup, and excellent price. Many also appreciate its convenient USB 3.0 interface and quiet operation. The compact size is another frequently praised aspect. While some users wish for built-in encryption, the positive feedback on other features outweighs this concern.

Lasted less than a year
||Posted . Owned for 11 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Same with Seagate, another company cannibalizing its good name while circling the drain. Terribly design and stop working in less than a year. I know how to get the data back, but most don't. Worthless product and a violation of a customer's trust to not suck and keep data safe.

Stay away from Western Digital
||Posted . Owned for 11 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.WD has to have the worst support imaginable. The drive was seen as 465 Gig and not the 10TB I paid for. Unable enter my street address to create an account, unable to create an RMA. Connection on chat line terminated after waiting 20 minutes....

Bricked after 2 1/2 years
||Posted . Owned for more than 2 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Unfortunately my drive is bricked after only 2 and a half years. I was using on my NAS and this is very sad. No one wants to loose data with a very new hard drive.

Not recognized by three different computers
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I must have 10 Western digital products, and all have always worked fine–Until this one. I guess there's a first time for everything. Had to be sent back. I think I'll pass on this one.

Not so good
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Drive failed under very light use conditions. Of course "just outside of warranty". Makes me doubt WD quality.

When on sale, AMAZING DEALS!!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. These 10TB Easystore drives usually go on sale about once a month so when bought on sale, these are an incredible value. The drives in these externals usually are WD Red drives with a white label and He filled (runs cooler, quieter). I have a larger Synology DS1019+ at home and basically been 'shucking' these externals and using the drives in my NAS. Shucking = taking enclosure apart and then using bare drive in my NAS. Lastly, BB shipping lately is amazing!! I had my drives shipped next day for free!

FYI about the data cable and power...
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Just picked mine up on sale. Haven't hooked it up yet, BUT I was very surprised to see it uses what is basically a proprietary data cable!... ie This is NOT your typical USB-C (which I believe is what the description touted?). If my memory serves me correctly, it's the same port as on the old Samsung Galaxy S5 - which, coincidentally, was a failure and only lasted for that one iteration of said phone series. Luckily, they include the cable in the box... Still very weird to me though! Again, I thought this used standard USB-C. In fact, you can't even use USB-C, it looks like maybe u can only alternately use a (now outdated) Micro-USB cable. I'm also surprised that there is still no power switch on these things! My 1TB WD drive from several years ago also had now power switch, and so I figured they would've "fixed" this by now. Why do I want a power switch?--I'll only use these drives a few times a year (just for archive purposes)... Why have it on all the time then? It's just wasteful - and a risk if there's ever a power surge! - so just give me the option to reach down and flip a switch to turn it off for the other 360 days of the year that it's just sitting there. (Instead I'd have reach around to pull the power plug each time....NBD, of course...Just weird/inefficient.) I'll prob keep it, since I got a 10 TB "USB 3.0" drive from a good company for under $200. Still a lil annoying tho.

Average Speed but Great Size and Reliability
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This external hard drive is exactly what you would expect for western digital. If you're interested in speed then you should get something else but this is a great value in terms of $/ TB.

Reliable, fan is pretty whiney though
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It's fast enough for couple big chunks of spinning rust! I like that you can turn off the (very bright) LED status indicator. Only criticism is that the tiny fan in here is quite loud for my tastes.
