Customers are saying

Customers admire the easystore 12TB External USB 3.0 Hard Drive's massive storage capacity, reliability, and ease of use, finding it to be good value for the price. Positive feedback also highlights its quiet operation and convenient USB connectivity. While some users noted that the drive can run warm and that the RPM may be lower than advertised, the majority of reviews are overwhelmingly positive.

Transfer speed is fast. Comes with a nice long power cord and a decent length USB. I do wish WD didn’t use their own type of connector on these cords - it’s very sturdy but not standard so if something goes wrong I would have to get a specific WD one. Always happy with WD products.

Works better on Macs than PCs

I owned a lot of these. They last much longer than the Seagate ones; however, sometimes, they just lose their connectivity to the PC and banished from windows explorer forever, (unless you reformat them.). This problem doesn't seem to happen on the Mac, but you'll have to get the right driver on the Mac or reformat these into a compatible filesystem format. I bought this for my wife to replace a dying Seagate 4TB drive for her iMac 27.

I had one of these crash a mere 90 days after purchase, so I'm not going out of my way to sing praises, but so far so good on the new one. I have two, so I was in good shape on the backup, which is what they're for.

I am using it so that I can create a light weight desktop to make it easy for me to move around. I've connected it to a USB 3 port and it provides access that is almost as fast as an internal SATA drive. There were no issues in connecting it and I've had no issues so far.

A sturdy putty knife, a couple of screw drivers and BAM.... a 10,000 RPM white labeled Red drive. My Synology NAS soaked it up without any issues and has been running silently in the background for a month. (This is my 5th shuck of one of these drives and my 3rd 10K RPM. )

I cannot buy enough storage especially in this digital age. Next purchase is my own Family HOUSE ICLOUD so I can stop paying monthly fees. This went on sale and I partitioned it to save all the 5, 4, 10 other GB external drives littering my floor beneath the computer.

I bought this to contain offline backups. I have other backup solutions, but I also wanted one that I can disconnect after backups. This drive is pretty fast with the USB 3.0 interface. Very quiet. I did not open up the drive to see what drive WD put in there.

I was looking for a large external drive to put all my documents, pictures and videos in one location. I've always been pleased with the Western Digital Passport Drives, so I decided to give the Easystore 12TB External Drive a try. I'm so glad I did. It meets my needs perfectly!

These are great and worth their weight in gold. WD drives last the longest, compared to other drive manufacturers out there. If you're within your warranty period and you do have a drive that fails, RMA is pretty easy. Love the Easystores, but be sure to pick them up on sale.

Awesome value, picked this up on sale. If you are planning to shuck this drive, be aware that the middle screw taps on the sides are not available on this model that you would find on a typical internal drive. This may affect your installation.

I actually have 3 12tb Hard drives. WD's are one of my favorites and they are extremely reliable. Never really disappointed, that's why I feel comfortable with every WD purchase. Plus Bestbuy always have them at a deal of a price.

Now I hear some people loose 1T for set up. I haven’t had that problem because I wipe it clean and use my own setup for storage off movies and pictures for my home network. I did catch them on sale for $179.99. So I purchased 7 of them. Can’t pass up a deal like that.

As a photographer, I have many hard drives (mostly WD) attached to my computer and replace them every 2 years to avoid malfunction. Of course the "out of service" drives serve as off-line backup. I've always had good luck with WD drives and this was a good price.
