...but does seem to be a bit on the slow side in comparison to my Seagate 8TB.

Just stopped working in less than a year... doesn't get power when plugged in. This item was VERY well taken care of.

I was happy to upgrade from a 4TB to this 12TB. But speed-wise it is lacking. It has longer than normal pauses when I first access the drive to browse files. Copying large files does seem to start fast and slow down. I'm suspicious it is a "SMR" drive and that is the source of the slowness.

The cable that's included in the box didn't fit the input on the drive. Seems like there was a mix up some where. The drive wasn't covered in that layer of protective sticker plastic so maybe they sold me a used drive and the wrong cable got put in the box? See photo for reference.

Works good for what I need it for. EMFZ drive inside.

its an average external drive with fair data transfer speeds.

Can’t shut down auto sleep mode, other than that great item.

Works Great, Never Run Out Of Space, But Not A Full 12TB

It disconnects intermittently with seemingly no trigger, and it's basically brand new. It doesn't seem to lose power, it just gives out for a second.

They are working fine but really thought they were faster.

Please be advice that this is not what the spec. describe. It is not 12TB, it is about 11 TB. The rpm is not 7200 rpm. it is around 5600 rpm. so buyer beware. Best Buy does not own its responsibility with the spec. it printed with the product spec.

Good storage device but no backup software included.

Got it black friday, didn't open it till last week. It's horribly slow transferring a TB can take 8 hours. It's ridiculous. If I could return it I would...

Very poor. I copied over about 4 gig worth of pictures before the thing failed.

bad out of the box. software is now unsupported by WD.

I have multiple drives and got this one for the extra space, Worked great for a week and a half but then a mishap it got knocked off a side table and fell onto a carpet floor, my other drive get stored in a backpack sometimes for travel and also have been dropped before and nothing has happened but the small fall for this one broke it and now I've lost some data. This drive is quick and was a decent price but seems to not be that sturdy and break easy. After this experience I'll be sticking with Seagate since that's what my other drives are and they haven't had any problems even when dropped or moved around.

when i got home connected the hard drive only 465gigs where available, took it back to get an exchange. when i got the other drive they told me it was a $65 dollar difference for them same model, this was a tues day i got he drive sunday. no way prices change that quick. when i decided to get a refund i got short changed 20 bucks. to be fair cashier was very nice and did end up get my full refund, it was a little annoying to be charge a $65 difference for the same model of drive. it was just a bad day. i do have the 14tb model on the way, lets see how that works out.

I've had it for almost a year. I've used up about half of the space so far. The biggest drawbacks to this product is having to plug in the power brick and the slower than expected disk speed.

This drive died exactly 1 year to the date. Lost all my data. No power surges, drops or anything that could harm it. The drive simply stopped spinning up. Stay away. I purchased this as a backup drive to a media server. Thankfully I still have the 6 year old drive this was the backup for but there some things on this drive that were not on the original.

Own other WD drives but this one failed within a day. No history of trauma after purchase.
