The drive was recignized right away and is more than fast enough. It's reassuring and convenient to have all that storage. It does emit a little noise...an occasional clicking, but it's not bothersome to me at all.

Come on! Its 14TB! If you're buying this you surely have some use case for it right? USB 3.0 but not the fastest on the block. Very acceptable though and did I mention 14TBs? If you want speed look at the G Drive line but this is acceptable and well, 14TBs. Wait for the sale!

I’ve had this drive running constantly for a month now, and have had no problems. One thing to note, it seems to run a little hot, averaging at 47 C and going up to 55 C. While I wouldn’t say it’s worth the regular price of $420, if you can get it under $250 it’s a great deal.

Great spacious hdd. I bought 4 of these, removed the hdds (WD White Label Drives) and put them in my WD Ex4100 NAS. They worked without having to modify anything. Currently have them Running in Raid 1+0 (28TB available). They are quiet but not as quiet as my WD Red Drives I previously had in the WD ex4100 NAS.

The hard drive was an excellent product. Performs very well, easy to format for my computer and is very very fast. There was some issues in the Best Buy pickup. The texting message software for outside pickup crashed. Took over two hours and multiple phone calls to get the product delivered to the car. Final solution was hailing down a store delivery person in the parking lot. He was very responsive and brought out the product right away.

I've bought a few of these now for a project and they all work quite well. Its interesting to see the variations in the AC adapters but universally, these drives just work and can store a ton of darta. When doing a lot of write operations, temps climb to the mid-upper 40s C but idle it rests right in the mid 30s.

Shipping was really fast but arrived DOA. That sucked! WD tech support was fast and confirmed it was DOA: simply said return to seller. Bestbuy tech support was fast to say I could bring to local store and swap. Did that and got a functional unit. 14TB drive works as expected so far. Great drive for the price. :-)

I have used these as intended as external drives for years without problems with multiple sizes. However, like many I also have shucked these for a decent deal on a new large format drive. Know that you are voiding the warranty if using as an internal drive, but for some use cases it is worth it. These 14TB drives were picked up on sale and are much cheaper than an equivalent internal unit. After a quick removal they install as a standard SATA drive and format easily.

Monster hard drive for a great price. When you need 14TB of storage and don't want to split it up among multiple drives, this giant drive is just what the doctor ordered.

It's an external storage that works exactly like it should. My one complaint is that the WD software included on the drive would not load properly, but frankly, who needs it? And for the price, it's quite a bargain, even when not on sale.

In pursuit of trying to lessen the amount of external hard drives that I have on my workspace, I ended up buying this hard drive. It was very easy to use out of the box and provided the right amount of space that I needed to back up all of my files.

Chose this drive because it had large capacity and came with excellent reviews. WD has always made good drives. I needed an external drive that acted as a 2nd backup to my home server. with 14TB, I will have plenty of room to safekeep my valuable music, photo, and personal files.

Massive hard drive storage at a great price. Bought this 14Tb version for $189.99 during Black Friday as a master backup for all my cell photos and videos and older scanned photos. Not sure even this one will hold them all. All of my drives have been WD, have never had an issues with them. Bought at least 15- 20 over the last 30yrs. With the advent of lower price and increased storage capacities, why not.

Got two to shuck and put in a NAS. Its a white label drive which has stats almost as good as their Red drives so since it's for a personal NAS and not a business or anything, this will work fine. I ran badblocks on it before taking it out of the enclosure to ensure there were no bad sectors and since these are 14TB drives over USB, that took about 3.5 weeks to complete but neither drive had errors.

Got two during Black Friday for my Synology DS920+. Was easy to shuck after referring to YouTube videos. Be aware there is a pin issue with some of the drives you may get. Again, refer to YouTube videos. Fortunately I had no issues. YMMV.

I've been running 4x of these for about a year at this point, 24/7, without issues. They operate as server storage and the only thing I've done is add some small fans above the drives to move air into the drives better. Easily worth the money.

Works great. Excellent capacity. Fast transfers with USB-3. Quiet. Compact. Replaced a bunch of old 200-500 GB drives I was keeping around. I also had some old PATA drives so I used an adapter and transferred all my stuff and got rid of them. Got it on sale on Black Friday.

Got this at a steal for $199. Had been hoping it would drop to tht price. Been using it for a couple of weeks and so far so good. It is. Little loud sometimes and it vibrates and shakes my desk. Not all the time but periodically.
