      I upgraded my NAS to 12 TB RAID 1. The old 5 TB external wasn't going to cut it. This 14 TB USB-C 3.0 become the new backup for the NAS. Totally plug and play with my NetGear RN102.I'll forget it there in a day or two.

      It makes a concerning loud noise every 10-15 seconds but otherwise seems to work flawlessly. It does take a few seconds to wake up when idle which seems to freeze my web browser, but otherwise seems to work ok. Still concerned about the noise though.

      We have used a cloud based backup service. When we have discovered a problem with our data/images, the backup already has a copy of the problem making it useless. I will main backups here to be more effective.

      Low price on Black Friday. Working well for 5 months now, no issues. While it comes with its own backup software, I'm using Free File Sync for on-demand backups of internal drives. 130 MB/sec was my transfer speed tonight, which I'm happy with.

      Alot of storage to use for movies music and backups. Decent transfer speeds and the new Western Digital Dashboard can be used with it to check health and do disk checks.

      Much cheaper than the internal versions. Ideal for building a NAS. Ordered x2, both were WD whites from Taiwan. Both passed extensive WD data lifeguard diagnostics.
