I will preface this review with the following statement: "I am old." My first computer had a 110 MB hard drive, which at the time I considered to be a lot of disk space. Fast forward ~28 years. It's amazing that you could have such a ridiculous amount of storage at such an affordable price. 14TB is a lot of disk space. It is a scary amount of disk space. Imagine all the data you can lose if this were to crash. That's why I use it to store large files in which I don't necessarily have any vested emotional interest. It is perfect for holding all those Linux distros. Give it a little room to breathe, and blow the dust out of it every once in a while and it should last for years to come.

Excellent price. Perfect storage solution for photos and videos. This external hard drive is quiet but you might hear a click from the spinning hard drive depending on the surface you set it on.

I needed an external Harddisk for my storage needs and this one is the best priced in 14TB category. Have been using this day to day for almost an year without any issues.

Been using WD external hard drives for years now and like the high storage capacity as well as the easy to set up (one power cord, one USB). Great value for the storage. Good for backing up media.

Great storage capacity, throughput, and reliability. I buy each generation annually and this year's didn't disappoint! 14TB is the best so far! Quiet and reliable without much heat when run constantly during archive sessions.

I bought this unit (for backup purposes on a Mac) because of its substantial capacity and very reasonable price. Some specs claim the platter spins at 7200 RPM, but I believe 5400 RPM is correct, and that is sufficient for a backup unit. I have purchased many WD drives before, as well as competitive drives, and have found all of them to be well designed and (mostly) reliable, but I have discovered the hard way that they don't last forever. My "go to" units are G-Drive Professional, which are rugged 7200 RPM units, but substantially more expensive. Hard drives are pretty commodified these days, and you get what you pay for. I have no complaints (yet) about this one.

Huge storage at micro price. Wait for this every Black Friday at Best Buy. Was a long term Seagate guy but after the tsunami, reliability suffered. That having been said do run something like Crystal Disk on it before use.

Super easy to use and setup, plug it in and it works. Lots of space for storage. Very good product.

I have had much better luck with Western Digital spinning hard than others, so I am pretty loyal to that brand. I needed a replacement for a backup RAID drive that, after a number of years and lots of use, failed to stay powered on. When this WD drive became available at a holiday season price, I jumped on it and I haven’t been disappointed. It’s a bit barebones as you will have to provide your own backup software or download some from WD’s site, but, at the price, this has proved to be a good, fast, thus-far-reliable device. There isn’t much you can say about any HDD beyond “it works as expected and was priced well,” and I am happy to be able to say that about this one.

Got this on black Friday, was really cheap, Shucked the drive *removed the drive inside* and installed into my media server, works great, tho a little noisy from vibrations. its a great thing.

Great value, earlier units of the same model I've purchased have had no problems, not the fastest drive I've used but it does not appear to be SMR, if raw speed's not vital this is a great pick!

Great value when on sale for the storage capacity offered. The drive is noticeably louder than multiple 8TB and 12TB easystores I’ve previously purchased. The 14TB refuses to pass WD’s extended drive test but using other tools the drive doesn’t report any SMART errors or bad sectors after filling the drive three times.

This is perfect for me since I like to edit videos and use photoshop which the files can become quite large, although it did start making noise within the first couple of weeks... but so far its still working.

This device has worked great. I was using Google for backup of my photos from my disc array since I had a 2 user business account and no limit on storage. It would back a couple of times during the middle of the night. Then Göogle changed their mind and cut back their storage to 5TB per user and couldn’t joint users. So I had to do some unloading. It took quite a few days but I got most of it off of Google (at least below their limit). This has been a great product and plenty large enough so far. It’s quiet.

I have waited more than almost 1 year before writing this review. This is one of the best decisions I made buying this product. Just last week, my computer hard drive crashed. Thankfully I have saved all my data in this external hard drive. You can't beat the price for a 14T. I didn't even know that 14T of external hard drive exists. Well, it's been a great product. Never had any issues with it and it's fast in loading data and also retrieving data from it is smooth.

These drives are excellent, I've had some of them running 24/7 for the past 5 years without failure. Very reasonably priced.

needed more storage and this external hard drive fit the bill. 14TB for an excellent price.

Huge size, I bought on sale for approx $189.00. That's hard to beat. I have used Western Digital drives for many years. Never had one fail. I will buy again if I have a need for that large of a drive again.

I now have four of these storing my Plex library. Shucked the internal drive and put it in my computer. None of them have failed me yet. Price is steep but they go on sale often enough.

Great external hard drive that lasts!! I've had many of these and have never had a problem. You get what you want.... tons of space for a fair price. These are fast hard drives also.
