Great for backing up stuff. I would not use this drive for video editing. Will work to store footage just not to edit with. To slow of a drive!

Used and defective sold as brand new

Yet again Best Buy has sold me another used and defective item as brand new. Right after opening the box it was obvious this had already been used, but decided some dust and fingerprints weren't a big deal. Plugged it in and...absolutely nothing. Drive won't initialize no matter what I do. Downloaded the WD discovery tool and apparently this drive has already maxed out on password attempts (which obviously did not come from me) and unable to reset or clear the drive there either. If a customer returns an item and says it's defective don't just throw it back on the shelf and sell it to someone else.

I use these in pairs for backup of files and photos. They are slow transfer rate even in USB3.0, so prepare for a long winter's nap. They are also fragile, so keep them someplace safe. I would NOT use just 1, you need 2 to cover failure.

I've had several of these to store data and they keep chugging along. They go on sale a few times a year, so be patient.

14TB for consumer usage. 200MBps read/write performance. I don't think much else needs to said at this point.

I needed to backup two HardDrives and didn’t want to add a third. This was a great deal. Not sure on the speed of these but it’s faster than the 8TB

I’ve been a fan of WD external hard drives for some time now, but this one has been a disappointment. It’s slow to awaken and extremely sluggish — very different from my WD 2, 4 or even 8 TB drives. In this case bigger does not appear to be better.
