Really great price for a mamoth amount of storage.

I am using this for my backups and it works fine. I did not look at transfer rates for the backups as I am always doing other things so for me the rate is okay.

Best purchase of the year! I use this for our Xbox/Playstation consoles for downloading games and freeing up space on the concole itself.

I bought 5 ext drives from WD. 3 16 tb's, one 18tb, and this one, the 14tb. This and the 18 work well, the 3 16tb's were defective and all had to be sent back, nightmare after getting a new Mac and spending the time to transfer endless amts of folders to the defective 16's. I think this company has real issues either in quality control or poor shipping methods, because for the price I paid, I shouldn't have what I consider 3 lemons, and the hassles to get things corrected......

Excellent value if on sale for less than $200; otherwise, it's just a random 3.5" WD drive (sometimes a recertified drive) inside a plastic clamshell that you need to remove.

Thus far in our tests, this drive has proven to be both reliable and durable. We have copied a lot of information to and from the drive over the last month resulting in great success. Clearly, we have a ways to go to see how it holds up as the months go by, by so far it has been doing quite well. Transfer speeds are right where they should be for a quality spinning drive, making it perfect for mass content and backups alike (falling around 180-190MB/s on average). This is an incredible amount of space for serious users in need of it. It is just a little expensive, which isn't a surprise. Absolutely worth 5 stars when it goes on sale for $199 or something like it did last time.

If you have another western digital hard drive they want to compete with each other and slow down system

hard drive works great. i thought it was 14T but its only 12.7T
