The included USB cable in the package is shorter (37 inches) compared to the USB cable from an older WD My Book 8TB external hard drive (46 inches).

Out of box new (supposedly) makes sounds when running like something is wrong or loose inside. Works so far, but for how long? Also I’ve had lots of problems with items purchased from Best Buy in general..

Unbelievable, 2 dead drives! First of all - contrary to what was written on the box, no software was included. Upon plugging in - cold dead silence. Exchanged the drive in the same store two hours after I picked up the order. Second drive - again no software included, and the power adaptor looked different from what was in the box with the first non-functioning drive. This second drive is going back to the store and I am not getting any more replacements. Maybe there is a reason why these 14 TB drives are sold at such a discount?

I bought two of these to back up two RAID Arrays. Both backups failed. I downloaded the WD Test for Mac and Dashboard for Windows. Both drives passed the Quick Test but FAILED the Extended Test (after running overnight) an Mac & Win. Went to exchange and Best Buy only had one, so got it. It was very load (CHUNK - CHUNK). Again passed quick the second try on dashboard (first just hung dashboard). Extended test failed quickly after only 10% (Operation Failed). Maybe a bad batch.

Besides the one I just bought, I have 3 other WD Easystore drives on my system. Unlike its predecessors, this one was dead on arrival. After filing for RMA and paying for two-way shipments to get a replacement, I found the new one making very unnerving intermittent knocking sounds from time to time. At this point I am not sure how long it will last.

Been trying to do their complete drive test for over 3 days now. It's been stuck on 90% for over 3 days now. They really can't make any better software than this that your computer would say it's 90% done for 3 days.

A 14 terabyte hard drive only has 12.7 terabytes of space. Very disappointing and misleading in my opinion.

It works without issue would buy another if the price is right.

Great drive, works nicely in my Synology NAS. Very easily shuck-able.

I lost 5 yrs of memories and movies to wd. Cant trust it

it lasted three months. I unplugged it by mistake, and although I know it is lethal to unplug without unmounting it, the event rendered the drive useless. I couldnt format it, access it, nothing. better yet, I didn't trust it anymore. bad product.

Essentially unusably slow. files transfer at a rate of about 5.42mb/s according to windows file move window. Don't know how these guys keep selling products.

Disappointed with this drive, failed after six weeks of use. All data lost. Luckily I had a backup.
