Soo I have a ton of external HDs, but prior to this one my biggest was 8 TB. I know they all are slightly smaller than the number they are sold as but that number increases the higher you go up in size. So little did I know a 14 is 12.7. Just keep that in mind if you need it for exact space. Works perfect though. Recommend on sale.

I use this for an Xbox Series X, and everything seems to work great. It's a bit noisy compared to the console, but performance is fine, no issues with it.

Many, many years ago, I bought my first hard drive. It ran about $400 and was a whopping 40 megabytes. To have gotten a 14 Tb drive with 350,000 times as much storage space (not to mention far faster access) for less than half of what I paid umpteen years ago (and that doesn't even take inflation into account) is mind boggling. I've had good luck with Western Digital drives, both internal and external, over the years and I expect I will with this one as well. The only thing that keeps me from giving it 5 stars is that I haven't had it long enough to see how reliable it is.

oh gosh, it is all that it seems. "No" these are not the fastest drives but what you do not get a 14T drive to use as a primary drive, that is what SSDs and M.2 drives are for. Low power -- for 24/7 use -- and acres of space make it the well nigh perfect backup drive or net server storage for, say, security cams or media use. I shucked mine into a low-end QNAP NAS server and it works perfectly.

After losing quite a bit of data using another big name company (the only product offered at one of the "club stores") - I switched to Western Digital & have not been disappointed.

The hard drive is a good value for the capacity, especially when on sale. I have yet to have one hard drive fail but given these can be found on significant sale I strongly encourage purchasing two of these hard drives for redundancy sake. I currently own several of these and anticipate purchasing several more in the near future.

great price at $199 + 15% off coupon when recycling old hard drives. these are CMR drives and work better for NAS than SMR. i shucked these and replaced my 8TB set. took 19 days to replace 7x8TB. i've nearly doubled my capacity in my NAS. and finally, RAID is not a back up ;)

    The Best External HD Brand

Using this one primarily as a backup for other external drives that are full. I've never had a WD drive fail on me yet (I have 3 others running daily) so that's the only external HD brand I have the most trust in. I've had a couple of Seagate's fail on me in the past and I want to avoid going through that headache again of losing precious files.
