Huge amount of storage space w/fast USB v3.0 interface. Only owned for a short time, but so far so good. Unit will go into a sleep state after some time (5-mins or so), so it saves on power. Hopefully it doesn't die on me - would hate to lose that much data!

At the time of purchase it was cheaper to buy this external than the internal equivelent. If you dont mind voiding your warranty, easy enough to open and retrieve hard drive for internal. Better performance than usb. Price is now really up on all drives.

No issues. Easy to set up and has decent transfer speeds if you keep everything connected through USB 3.0. Using this to consolidate all my data in a nice neat package and then backup to a proper NAS in the near future. Will then use this to sync data with my main PC.

Bought two of these to include in a RAID 5 Array for my Plex server. They are easy to shuck and do not require the SATA power modification that has been required on some drives in the past. Overall, great drive at a great price.

I got this to replace a different Western Digital external HDD model . The old one was a hermetically sealed plastic brick. Plastic doesn't conduct heat very well, so I guess the previous drive died from excessive heat. Its twin is still going strong. Its pretty bad when your backup dies, so you need to have a couple of backups, just in case. This drive holds the platters vertically, which I would think is better than horizontally like the previous drive. It also has vents, to let the hot air escape out the top, and cooling air enter at the bottom. Set up was a snap. It was plug and play with Windows 7. I deleted the software that came on the drive. I use SyncToy (from Micro$oft) to backup my data. I don't do a lot of accessing of this drive, so data transfer rate isn't a big deal. I seem to see about 18 MBytes/Sec using USB 2.0 My laptop doesn't do USB 3.0) It spins down after some length of idle time, but wakes up pretty quickly. The computer sleeps every night, but I don't have to do anything special to wake it up. 117 people found this helpful

Nice to have lots of storage space. I connected this to the USB port on my mesh router. I can access it from any of my computers. I have media stored on it as well as backup directories for my desktop. I used to have a four-bay network appliance. But this stores more.

Got it on sale for $189.99 USD. This baby is outstanding in high speed performance since it came out off the box. It seems to be quiet not to loud unlike some reviews on the Website. I had so many Sea Gate hard drives from Costco but they are not as good as my new WD.

Very happy with me new WD Easy store 14TB External USB 3.0 Hard Drive. I use Carbonite on my Win10 BEAST of a Desktop PC, to automatically backup data to the cloud for offsite storage. I also use automated software to backup (nightly incremental) my internal drives to this new drive daily to have a physical backup at in case internal drives fail. I am a power user, Adobe CS, Adobe Premier, DLSR photographer, database developer and collector of games and software. 14TB is not as big as it used to be! +Good price per TB. +Easy to setup, was already formatted for Windows. +Came with a power supply and USB 3.0 cable. Plenty of storage, this is used as a back up drive for my photos. I have a second one that is my main photo storage drive, but I wanted 2 copies so this worked out fine. I have had plenty of WD hard drives over the years and I have been very happy with them
