Great casual back up hard drive

Excellent external drive

Looking for non SMR drives and this fit the bill. Large amount of storage and FAST. Used the WD tool to test the integrity of the drive and it passed completely. Used to buy Seagate externals until they changed to Shingled drives which were slow and prone to failure. I own 8/10/12 and 14 TB versions of these drives and have been nothing but pleased in their endurance and reliability.

Lots of Storage

WD EasyStore External Drive noise

Continuously doing something and making a racket in the process. This might be a Windows 10 thing but I finally had to unplug it. I only occasionally use it for backing up video files and having it "on-line" when I'm not using it is just not acceptable....too much annoying activity.

Seems to like to self-disconnect every once in a while (and my laptop gets upset that I didn't eject it correctly), but this isn't a huge problem as I'm using it for "cold storage"/backup.
