      I had a little trouble with this, as WD prefers not to support Linux. Ubuntu recognized the drive just fine at first, but not again after I ejected the drive and plugged it back in. I had to restart the computer to recognize the drive again. The solution seemed to be: Do not eject the drive. Just unmount it. Other than that, it's fine. The speed is quite fast for a HDD, on the order of 200 MB/s.

      good. no bad sectors. I used WD Drive Utilities and failed complete drive test (6 times). I have to turn off the other external drivers (unplug) and run Ease US Partition master trial edition (in 24 hours) and NO BAD SECTORS. So, if your computer can not handle WD Drive Utilities, use Ease US Partition master trial edition
