    It was not clear how to make the drive writeable on Apple. Web search showed that Apple can only read the default NTFS format. I reformatted to VFAT after installing the apps from the drive. There is no reason why the WD apps for Apply could not have mentioned reformatting when they are installed. Once I reformatted the drive, it was writable. NOTE: Reformatting the drive removes the WD setup from the drive. Run setup first, or download it from the WD web site. I have not tried to schedule backups yet. If the WD Apple backup utility works as well as the WD Windows backup, there should be no problems.
