I literally plugged it in to my iMac, went to the Disk Utility application, selected this external hard drive, selected erase and then it prompts you to rename this external hard drive and then I reformatted it as journaled. It took about 1 minute to reformat. After that I selected to use as my time machine back up and then it all started backing up my iMac--which took about 4 hours (maybe less) to complete. Pretty simple and I like it's size and how the little tabs underneath help it from slipping on my desk. Now I sit, wait and hope I get many years with this product.

This little harddrive is great, it's sleek, small, doesn't take up a lot of room on the desk or anywhere you out it, it's very well priced for a 2tb drive, works great on my Mac book, just needed to reformat it and haven't had any problems

What can I say. So far so good. Connects and recognized by console without issue. Short-term functionality and reliability good. Will see how things go over time but seems an excellent value.

I recently had a major anxiety attack as my old computers were having issues I was worried about losing data stored on these old computers over the years. A helpful tea support person at Best Buy suggested I try this easy to use external, portable hard drive. He was able to locate and store all of my photos from four old computers onto one 2TB external drive! I could finally breathe easy again. I think everyone should have one or more of these!

I used to have a 500gb drive and stored all my files and pictures of cats. It was almost full. Then due to the horrors of moving every 2 seconds, it was damaged. How will will I store more pics of animals doing human things now? 2TB?! Works great. Lots of storage for all of your memes, Soundcloud tracks and personal fanfics. A good price and also with other storage sizes if you indeed need more storage for big videos of your pet sleeping. WD has been a trusted storage name for me for a while. Would save cat pics in again.

This hard drive is small so it's easy to carry around. Easy no brianer setup. I can store tons of photos and videos on it. Best of all, the sale price was what made this an excellent buy.

Easy to plug into a computer. You can move files over to it by just highlighting them and moving to the drive by dragging them. It stores a lot of files, pictures, and videos.

Portable hard drives sure have shrunk since I first bought one, and that is a good thing. I filled this drive with files, folders, photos, videos and spreadsheets and had no problem retrieving them. I formatted the drive, added other items, erased them and had no problems afterward. It was a good price and has worked well. However, I have to give no stars to Best Buy's copy writers. I was enticed to write this review with an email headlined "We value your opinion. Literally." Please do not use the term "literally" unless you know how to do so properly. If you had used it properly, it wouldn't have been used.
