Asked a BB rep for advice and told me this product will work as I researched. Downloaded 9 PS Plus games and with profiles still have crazy amount of space.

Great backup storage for Dish DVR unit

Followed Utube video by dish and works great. Back up is a lengthy process, but that is a Dish problem not the external hard drive. Now I have a tremendous amount of storage.

Slick, Compact and Fast

WD backup

I'm sure newly produced hardware will have the newer software available by default. Otherwise, a quality product by a quality manufacturer.
