    I had to purchase this as I had my old laptop that crashed and hoped BB Geek Squad to do a data recovery. $1400 later and I this external drive was on sale almost half price and would recommend, great buy.

    I am using this portable hard drive as a "DVR" for my Dish Wally. I can pause and return to a show, record a program and do most things a full DVR can. The difference is you cannot record one show while watching another (unless you record Dish and watch antenna TV). After purchase and activation, it is free. No monthly programming fees. We really enjoy using it when a phone call comes in or we want to go backward in a show.
